Morning ladies went up at 5.30 and woke at 8 . Having some toast then sort myself out have to go shopping only have time today have Dog all week and can't leave him alone .

Nanto good to hear tablet worked I might try them just take one now and again .

Just mixed some parkin,so that is gently baking.Hubby says he can smell the ginger wafting through the house I can't smell it.

No specific plans for today,just the usual housework to be done.

Grauntie - I've never thought of having an Idea breakfast, but it's usually after lunch if we go there. I think OH's theory is that there are fewer hours shopping left if we go late in the day!! Glad to hear the unwanted effects of the ABs have stopped. I hope the cough follows suit quickly. xx

Desks for the little one are a good idea, though Qwerty. It would help sort out the chaos that is our GDs playroom!

Oma - we just ignore the arrows in Ikea. It's the only way!

Clover - I'm sure it's lovely to have the family back and be able to spend some time with them. Enjoy every minute.


Enfy - I'm so sorry you had a bad day yesterday, but sunshine always helps a bit. It's an early start for you tomorrow. If it's Southampton, I hope the Millbrook roadworks don't affect your journey. I'll be thinking of you both, and sending all the positive vibes in the world. xx

Afternoon feeling more refreshed and quieter here eldest has her mum at home this week, but think yesterday she felt it when the twins were here so she’s coming for a sleepover tomorrow 😬
GM I feel for you I had a cough for 2 yrs daily hourly nothing to do with want you have but just to let you know I know how it feels hope it stops soon.
Clover time with family is very special especially a Dd or DS for that matter , but we don’t all have our family close so at least they are in the same country thank goodness
Ikea breakfast was a bit cold to be honest you put you food on a trolley shipper is the best I can describe it and the liquid station as do far away, it takes ages then we had to find a table , but I was hungry so it slipped down a treatone dept I did manage to see was the serviettes one thought of you Oma
Nanto have you got the recipe for Parkin looking for an easy one 🤨

This is the desk it was easier to buy a double one as both children won’t necessarily be on it together but might be, It comes in black ash, white, and wood , I bought the top bit as well to keep pens and pads and such in it was £65 altogether so split between them it didn’t break the bank, for those ladies interested in buying a desk and my dil put it together herself !

This is my recipe for Parkin.

8ozs SR Flour
1½ lbs Medium Oatmeal
8ozs Butter/Margarine
1lb Golden Syrup
2Tsp Ground Ginger
½ Pint Milk
4ozs Sugar
1Tsp Bicarbonate of Soda

Method.
Mix together flour,oatmeal and ginger
Melt syrup,fat and sugar and add to dry ingredients
Mix in the milk
Dissolve bicarb in 1 Tbs of warm water, add to mixture and beat well.

I use an 8½" square tin, 3" deep.
Bake at 160 for approximately 1¼ to 1½ hours on a low shelf.
Test middle of cake with a skewer or similar to make sure it comes out clean.

You might think the milk is not going to mix in, but trust me it does.

We've just had a piece with a cuppa.

This afternoon my mum is going to visit her friend. I will drop her off then go back a couple hours later later. I will do mum's shopping on the way to her. Nothing much going on today apart from that.
