I'm a bit late getting on here today, but in my defence, I took Eva out at 8.15 because it was such a beautiful morning and I thought it might not last.

You are all such busy bees - I'll pop back later and catch up on everyone's doings.

What busy, busy people you all are! In my defence I have to report the cleaning of my shed, scrubbing of seedtrays, flower pots etc., collecting of seeds from flower heads and the washing of the bird feeders ready for later.
Anything to get away from the golf and rugby and motor racing. 🙄
Both my wing mirror spiders are still there! The one on the driver’s side made for the wing mirror pdq when I went out earlier. At last it has learned. 😁

It has turned really cold here in spite of the sun shine! Went to harvest festival at Church this morning and had to wrap my jacket round my legs as there was a draught coming from somewhere. Noticed several other people putting jackets back on as well. Brrr!

Still coughing and spluttering and Oh is as well. Don't know what I picked up or where, but it's not very pleasant. Hope nobody else gets inflicted with it.

Update on doggo....it seems the scar tissue from his previous operation a few years ago had grown round his bowel and intestine and had to be removed. According to SiL, it was like a small brick! Anyway, he seems to be back on the road to recovery but the vet has warned it could happen again, but at least they know what to look out for and take action if necessary. Needless to say I got shown his war wound when I was there and it was not a very pleasant sight!

DS went back last weekend and we are going to visit him over C******** for a few days. As he's living on his own I suggested I bring out stuff for C******** lunch and we can have a little celebration at his place. He didn't give a yes or a no, so will have to wait until nearer the time to broach the subject again!

Tree surgeons coming tomorrow to cut back our line of trees at the bottom of the garden and cut down the hazel which is threatening to take over! Next big job is getting the ditch piped and filled in. We had to get permission from the drainage board to do it, but it should make the house a bit easier to sell once it's been filled in.

Roast pork for tonight's dinner and I'm going to make an apple and bramble crumble for pudding. Haven't had one of them for ages.

OUr Gp and local chemist have run out of flu jabs!! But, they'll be back in in November! You'd think they'd have some idea of how many jabs to order in wouldn't you? I managed to get my MRI scan changed from the hospital 26 miles away to one 7 miles away. I changed it then got two letters next day giving me appointments for the same hospital but one on the day I'd cancelled and one for the new date! It makes you worry about if you are going to be seen when you get there. OH had same with his diabetic eye check up. Appointment on other side of town so he rang up and was offered one two miles down the road! You'd think someone would check where you're actually based before sending out these appointments miles away.

Anyway, enough from me. Hope all is well with everyone and that the coming week is a good one for you all.x

Wee Granny - poor you, and OH. I do hope you soon get rid of the coughing and spluttering. I would have thought they would have flu vaccine for people like your OH and you by association because they have a greater need to avoid infection. Do places like Boots or a pharmacy elsewhere have vaccine? November is a long time to wait.

Poor doggo - he must have been in a lot of pain, but dogs are so good at hiding it! I do hope his war wound heals up nicely and he doesn't chew at it.

How lovely to be going to DS's at 'that' time. It seems early to plan it, but you have to get flights etc organised.

Ditches are a mixed blessing, aren't they. Our village has areas prone to flooding when we get heavy rain and spring tides and if the ditches aren't kept clear you need waders and amphibious vehicles to get around!

When our neighbour cut down very high conifers at the bottom of our garden we were amazed at how much more light we got, even though it was the north boundary. The downside has been the weeds have seen the light and their opportunity to grow in abundance!

I'm glad you managed to get the hospital appointments more local. Yes, you'd think the staff would look to see where people lived first! When I first worked in Liverpool in an employment agency I was always asking local staff obscure questions like "Can Speke get to Edge Lane" but there was no point in offering someone a job they couldn't get to! You'd think hospital staff would check first!

Grauntie - I'm so glad you've got brainy spiders on your wing mirrors. One of mine had a beautifully constructed web on Tuesday morning, but I had to destroy it to clear the ice off the mirror. I felt awful destroying all that hard, and beautiful work! My spiders say 'Hi' to yours! You've done a lot of the jobs on my 'to do' list, although I have already cleaned the bird feeders ready for the first proper cold snap.

Qwerty - Yorkshire Puds - bliss!!!! Crikey your SIL did well to last so long in that killer job. He must have fantastic stamina.

Mimi - fancy going on the wet grass! Good job you had bare feet! Errr .... why are they green!

Plant - there's always something going on in the Plant family! What did you get at the Garden Centre?

Enfys - it was a gorgeous sunrise (that's why I went out early anyway) but I was a bit shocked to notice on the way back from walking Eva that is was only 6.5C! I'm sure it got colder!!

Gem - I hardly dare ask if your car got done today! How were the balloons? And the rocks - any photos?

Oma - no, no Karcher! The steam floor cleaner I got was supposed double as a window cleaner but it was useless and far too heavy to hold. I use a bucket of hot water, Fairy liquid, a clean j-cloth to slosh bubbles on with and a squeegee thingy to wipe them off and an old dog towel or 2 to dry the edges. Hard labour! You've got a busy week ahead. I hope B's hearing test goes ok.

Nanto - I do hope your MIL has had a wonderful birthday. xx

Daisy, no balloons We went early to avoid the traffic our friend got caught up in last night. Not long after we arrived they announced no balloons going up tonight , too windy. We found 2 of our friends there so went with them on the ferriss wheel (like a mini London Eye wheel) and had a coffee together.
We are destined to not see the balloons go up it seems. Next year we will grit our teeth and get up to see the 7 am launch!!
Carr , hmm, let me think, did I clean it ??
There will be photos of stones soon, when more in finished rather than in the production stage

We’ve had an eventful day. Lovely walk this. Or in with DD and Dexter. He managed to lose his ball, worried us all the way back, he couldn’t understand why we didn’t have it. Then, luckily, he found another one...one happy dog. Then, DD asked us if we fancied going on holiday with them for a week in April in a holiday cottage. We said Yes straight away. I’m sure, by then, DH will be ok to travel as hopefully his ops etc will be long over and any check ups too. So we took the chance, looked online and found a lovely cottage with wonderful views and the only week they had left for the time from March to July was the one we wanted. So it’s all booked! I feel very excited and it’s been so nice to have something else to think about over the weekend. I’m sure it will do us both the world of good, even just planning it.

Feeling very tired now so I am planning an early night. Hope you e all had a good day 🌛

Gem - how disappointing there were no balloons, but it sounds as though you had a good time without them. Fingers crossed for next year's event! It sounds as though you're doing a 'proper job' on your stones.

Nanto - I'm so glad you mum had a lovely birthday, and I bet you are tired as well as the birthday girl. x

Enfys - Poor Dexter losing his ball. We can't take a ball out for Eva - she gets too fixated on it. Still I'm glad Dexter found another one. How lovely to have a holiday to plan for and look forward to. It sounds a lovely cottage - in the UK? Sleep well - it sounds as though you will.

I seem to have been quite busy today, but not sure what I've done!! The house looks a bit cleaner and tidier than usual and I did pull all the furniture out in our bedroom and hoover up the huge dust bunnies lurking behind! I've spent a bit of time trying to organise the DSs and their families to come for lunch sometime around OH's birthday (10 October). I sorted out the chest freezer a bit and checked out what and how much dog food we had before putting in an order. A friend called round and we sat and chatted over a cuppa for a while. I cooked a chicken and chilli casserole for dinner. That's about it!

I think I need an early night before Manic Monday starts the new week!

Poor Dexter he must have been puzzled but at least he found another ball hahaha

This is the cottage. It’s only in Devon, just a couple of hours away so not too far to go but looks lovely.

Enfys - it looks totally fabulous - what a stunning location. Holiday cottages are amazing these days. They used be be awful, furnished with cast offs from the owner's main house and with meters for everything! You won't want to come back.
