Qwerty., my daughter doesn't approve of letting him think FC will judge him for being naughty

I think he has heard about it at nursery however so I may bring it into conversation when I have him next

    Good answer from your GD!

Gem - you can't fault your GS's reasoning.

      Qwerty - I love your GD's response!

Today it was my OH's turn to make me smile. We were Christmas shopping in Southampton, and tired, and hungry stopped at a Harry Ramsden's outlet for fish and chips. OH asked the assistant for "Fish and chips twice, please, and mushy peas". Seeking clarification the lady asked 'Would you like 2 mushy peas or 1?" OH: "Oh, I was hoping for rather more than two peas" !!!!

      They walk among us!!!

Phone call from Sadie yesterday: "grandma Father Christmas knows you and granddad are coming for Christmas lunch at our house" me "goodness me, he is clever isn't he?" S: "of course he is grandma, he knows everything even that we are going to your house for Family Christas" me: "Gosh how lovely, how do you know all this?" S "because he sent me a letter" said in the withering way only a five year old can manage when you are supposed to know something over the phone! Me: "Ah what a lucky girl you are and good job he knew your address" cue another withering put down for Grandma "Grandma of course he knows my address udderwise (her version of otherwise) he wouldn't know where to bring our presents would he?".

The letter by the way was written by me and posted when I was on the way to the butcher I go to which is along the road from their house. She is extremely excited about Christmas this year and she and Joe are staying with us next weekend so we will do the tree putting up when they are here. It is a tall thin ready decorated tree which we have had for a few years. We haven't told her about the tree putting up yet but I know she will be pleased.

Sadie and Joe are with us tonight. They have been delightful. We had the obligatory back to back with Joe to ensure that he is still indeed taller than grandma (hair buns do not count). Sadie and I have done fairy castles, colouring, glitter everywhere, lots of ballet dancer drawings and a horse which she said looked liked a rhinoceros - well I did my best.

She asked to watch Peppa Pig. I got the laptop out and put it on for her. A little while in I noticed her putting her hands over her mouth and eyes in shock, or so it looked, and she had tears in her eyes. She had earphones on so I moved to make sure she hadn't changed the programme. No she hadn't. It was an episode of Peppa Pig where they thought the goldfish had died. Oh bless that dear child.

She is such a good little girl about going to bed. You just say it is PJ time and tell her how long before bed, then you say "toothbrush" and she goes in and brushes, has a story, kiss kiss, leave her with a book for ten minutes, asleep. Joe stayed up a bit later than usual today, he does love a cuddle with granddad.

I know they will be up at a ridiculous hour tomorrow but they are so funny. "Is it gettie uppie time yet?" It is usually about 5am. "No not yet. I will let you know" we are invariably up by 6.15am. Hopefully the dark mornings will have a positive effect.

Aww, Zizi, poor Sadie worrying about Peppa's goldfish. My GD1 considers herself too old for Peppa Pig now ("well, I AM going to be 6, Grandma" - I didn't remind her that would be in 8 months!) but I've noticed she watches it when GD2 has it on.

What a lovely time you've all had, Zizi. I hope you got your lie in until 6.15! I love it when they get to be teenagers and don't want to get up before lunch.

Daisy I was awake at six and anticipating the two wriggly ones coming into our bed but they didn't come in until 7.30! Sadie had a dabble with my shoe boxes and jewellery, so both ended up all of the place. Daddy came to collect the two of them in a taxi (due to having too much to drink last night and not getting in until 3am) and Sadie insisted that he went to see my shoe boxes very gravely telling him that "a girl can never have too many shoes" this was part of a conversation Sadie and I had this morning when I was plaiting her hair.

                      Her has!!!

Yesterday GS came to us for the day. The Christmas tree and decorations had been put up since his last visit. He and mummy had obviously had the 'will Grandma have her tree up?' discussion on the way here. I opened the door, GS came in and shouted out to DD 'Her has!!!! '. Very excited by the small tree in the hallway, then even more delighted by the large colourful tree in the living room as he walked through.
He's very much taken by everything Christmas this year

Gemini - I'm sure he will still be wide awake and very excited somewhere around 4.15 am on Christmas morning.

Just had phone call from two excited little people. I took their Christmas Eve boxes around yesterday and they opened them this morning. They were calling down the phone and so pleased with the boxes. Did the PJs fit? Yes they had them on. Loved the Christmas baubles I got from Cadbury World on our trip. They have decided they will watch the DVDs in bed tonight, first Joe's then Sadie's, glad that was sorted out without argument! "Love you grandma" ...........
