DD had a conversation with GS (aged 7) .
    " When I am 10 I am going to be a king "
    DD said
"How are you going to become king "
    GS
    " I haven't got a plan yet "

    A few minutes he said
"I want to go to Birmingham for my holidays' "

That's certainly one end of the scale to the other !

Now I have nothing against Birmingham but its not on the top of my '100 places to visit for a holiday '
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Gem we used to say my niece had 10 to 2 feet the way she stood her feet pointed to 10 to 2 so 10.30 wouldn't be impossible but a bit like twister

Lovely, you wonder what goes through their little minds and what is at the bottom of their thoughts.

I remember as a little girl, I sat with a piece of dry bread and a glass of water and when asked why, I said well that's all you get in prison (where did that come from)

              Aww Plant

My GD, just 8 is a little mother to her 18 month old brother in lots of ways. Last week I looked after them at their house. When we came back from picking up GD from school, GS made it clear he wanted to see the horses just down the lane from their house. We walked down as it is very close, and as the road leads nowhere else, almost no traffic. The nearer we got,the more excited GS became, he loves the horses GD said to me, several times, 'This is when he needs to be picked up'. 'We can't let him go any further.' 'He will just run into the field to the horses'. etc! As my back will not allow me to carry him for long, he had to take his chances LOL, with Grandma lunging at him if he got anywhere near!

The same day, I was sitting with both GC at their table whilst they ate tea. GS ate some of his then kept pointing at GD's plate saying Thank You, or his version of it, very loudly. Meaning he wanted her food! I told to him to eat his lovely food and let his sister eat hers in peace. GD said to me 'Grandma, a useful tip is to put some of his food on my plate, then he will eat it'

It only worked slightly on this occasion, but her childcare knowledge impressed me!

Gem - GD is an excellent little mother and has clearly worked out all the problems of child rearing, bless her. I love how she said 'a useful tip'!

A granny friend of mine was driving her DD's very posh car with her GD aged 9 as passenger. The automatic gear change went 'funny' (that's the technical term) and my friend didn't know what to do. Her GD said 'Mummy just thumps it a few times and then it's ok' - she was right!

                        GS1 made me smile today.
We looked at the red sun when I collected him from school. It wasn't a red sun according to him, but a Harvest Moon

As we walked home he told me about Storm Ophelia, which he was interested in. I said I hoped I would be home before it got to us as I didn't fancy driving in it. He told me not to worry, that he could in fact show me something about storms on his i pad (he didn't as it was out of charge) which would tell me that I was very , very safe in a car!!

                        That was me told then

They are so clued up these children , were ours as clever ? I cant remember ,

I love the food tip Gem she must listen to everything Mummy says ,
when she grows up and has her own children I wonder if she will remember that tip

Daisy I agree with Plant ,A good thump solves everything , reminds me from years ago if the TV picture rolled you would thump the top of the TV to fix it

GS1 had a very nice Halloween. He was poorly last year, and only just 3 the year before, so this was his first proper Halloween. He loved helping me greet the trick or treaters, and then, with his mummy after work, we called round to a few homes.
He shrieked if our callers had masks or scary costumes, and told most people 'This is my Grandmas house, I don't live here. (pointing to me) This is my Grandma'

When he, DD and I set out to do a little trick or treating of our own, we saw a mum and 2 little boys approaching. GS called out ' Are you coming to our house? It's OK you can. Auntie S is in and she is handling it' As they thanked him and walked onto our drive he called out 'That's the door there' !!

Later he instructed me to 'handle the trick or treaters' once he had gone home.
Thank goodness I had him here to show me what to do
