Another hot day here. 30 again although there was a nice breeze this morning. My gardener cancelled and I’m so pleased she did, I was worried about her working in the heat. Haven’t done much again today, tomorrow and Thursday is more of the same apparently but hopefully cooler at the weekend. Fingers crossed.

tomorrow is DD’s birthday, my baby girl will be 59….how on earth did that happen!

I keep seeing jobs I want to do but they will have to wait, just hope it cools down soon.

Enfys, the jobs will wait until il cools down! A friend of ours is a gardener and I saw him working down our road when I set off this morning. He must have been hot.

It did get hotter Nan2. My car was showing 32 this afternoon.

Daisy, my OH has neck thing for golf which sounds like Eva's vest
I wish regassing woud solve the problem! There is a hole in the unit and I was told 2 years ago I needed new one, to the cost of several hundred ££. If I had known how hot these summers were going to be, I maybe I would have paid it.

OH managed to survive the golf, but were all very hot. There are trees about for shade. No breeze here today. I don't know where they came in the competition. It was Lady Captains Day, and there is meal tonight. She has cooled down now, had shower and getting ready to go out again.

I had to call into Sainsburys for a couple of things after my massage. I bought myself a ready meal, and several types of lollies for the freezer. For the GC and for us!
I have ordered a windscreen shade in an attempt to at least have a cooler car to get into. Arriving tomorrow.

I had shower this morning but I think I definitely need another tonight!

Enfys, it was a lovely breeze this morning. I wanted to air a winter duvet off the spare bed and the breeze and bright sunlight were perfect. It was sensible of your gardener to cancel today. I cancelled Eva's hydro session. It's too hot in the boot of the car, even with the air con going full blast, it's warm at the hydro centre, and the water is warm too. Plus the hard work of the exercise. Hopefully next week will be cooler. I think tomorrow is set to be even hotter for us.

Gem, I hadn't heard of those cooling neck things until I saw an advert for one yesterday. What a good idea. The cool coat for Eva certainly stopped her panting this afternoon. OH laughs at me using a windscreen shade, but it does help to keep the car cooler. How are P and M coping with the heat? I'm sorry your air con repair isn't easy or cheap. I remember now you mentioning it some time ago.

I think I've mentioned that OH and a friend are going up to Shropshire on Friday for the week-end. It's the annual meet up for his kit car club. This morning he took the soft top off, and then decided it would be too hot - it's about a 4 hour journey - so put it it back on again, but left the glass part of the doors off, so hopefully they can get a bit of breeze. I've got him some Factor 50 suncream, and given him strict instructions to wear a hat. He's not good at protecting himself in hot weather, and I'm also nagging him about drinking enough water. At least this year they are staying in a decent hotel, rather than the yurt they had last year.

Daisy, the cats are hating this heat. They are hiding away upstairs with the blinds closed until early evening . They are both in the garden now it's cooler.

Good morning. Another hot one today

I want to cut the grass early.
You can officially use noisy garden/building tools from 8am.

Nothing to report, its too warm to do much.

              Morning Nanto, ladies.
I thought I had posted last night but when I looked I hadn't pressed post reply🙄

              Daisy
We take MIL melon we chop it up and put it in the fridge for a few hours before we go and I have a little insulated bag I put it in along with a bottle of water we put in the freezer for a hour beforehand .

The cool vest sounds ideal for Eva ,
Storm won't tolerate his or the cooling mat , stupid dog.

I think J is wise keeping the soft top on , he would fry in this heat and wouldn't notice with the breeze .

              Enfys
I don't blame gardener cancelling it was far too hot yesterday to do strenuous work,
I have had my bedroom blinds and curtains closed for days , it does help doesn't it to keep the room a little cooler,
You can understand why Mediterraneans close their shutters by lunch time.

              Gem
I think those screen covers are good , you know yourself if the car has had tree shade it makes it cooler ,
I know it's a faff on putting them in place and taking them off again , but if it makes it more comfortable in the car it's worth the hassle.
Poor P & M animals are suffering along with us but cats are sensible , they will find shade wherever they can and cool off.

              Nanto
Did you have your salad yesterday?
We did it was just too hot for anything else.

We are popping to the shops just now then B wants to paint the iron railings by the front door before it gets too hot ,
Just doing a little at a time in this heat,

The shower was lovely and cooling this morning after a very sticky night .

                    Good morning ladies.

It seems chicken goujons are the fashion around here

Nan2, its certainly too hot to do anything you don't have to. This can't last long!

It was such a hot night, and OHs hip was bothering her, after the 18 holes of golf. We ended up in separate rooms. Even with the fan on it was unbearable until the early hours. I did manage some sleep, on and off. OH is still up there, so I hope her night was reasonable in the end.
Aqua and hopefully coffee this morning, I have no other plans today.

                    Keep cool!

Good morning , I for one will be pleased when it cools down, next week is the forecast!!

This a a hydrangea that the GD's brought me for my birthday last year, I didn't think it would survive as it was literally drowned during a storm with the water from the roof! It must be strong as it has come back really well with lots of flowers.

                        Good Wednesday morning, everyone.

It's certainly hot here - 30 at the moment, and rising.

                        I'll pop back later. xx

Some schools shut here, the PTA paid for air con to be installed in GGd’s school so she is at school, not sure about the othe GC. I am still sleeping in next door, hope to get up the step to mine soon. My DD has cancelled my visit to the practice nurse, it is too hot and we were only at the main hospital yesterday seeing a doctor. Still bandaged from ankle to knee but a bit less painful to walk.

I hope you are all managing to keep cool.

Nothing different they can do that the hospital has done .
I'm pleased to hear it's less painful though xx

I have bought a white hydrangea this year , I am hoping if I wrap it well for the winter it will survive ,
Yours must be hardy as they don't like too much water do they.

I heard some schools in our are were closing.

Hubby talked me off from cutting the grass, i regret letting him do that now.

I went in the shower about 9ish this morning.
It was already very warm then. The shower gels and shampoos are certainly more runny than usual.
                              Never noticed it before.

It's stifling hot here, 35C on our garden thermometer. I had to water our hydrangeas this morning. They were very limp.

Nanto, they say it's better to leave your lawn a bit longer when it's very hot so the grass doesn't scorch, plus it's much harder work for you in the heat. Enjoy having an easy day. xx

Oma, I don't do anything to protect my hydrangeas in the winter. One's in the ground the others in pots. They're pretty tough. I just make sure they're up on pot stands or bricks so excess water can drain away. I leave the dead flower heads on until about March and that protects the stems from frost damage.

Plant, I'm so glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Cancelling the practice nurse appointment today was sensible, especially when you were at the hospital yesterday. How forward thinking of the PTA of GGD's school to invest in air conditioning.

Gem, I hope you enjoyed aqua and coffee with your friends. How it OH? Eighteen holes was a lot, but I hope her hip is less painful now. It's horrible when you can't sleep in the heat.

I'm doing nothing much today. I should have been going with a friend to a talk given by the Agisters (the people who look after livestock on the Forest) tonight, but based on how tired I felt last night I've backed out. It's a pity because I was really looking forward to it.

Eva is feeling the heat today as well. She didn't eat her breakfast and has been a bit sick (probably caused by hunger), but I'm so glad we got her a cool coat. She's slept most of the day.

OH has been planning the route up to Shropshire for his week-end away. I think he's looking forward to it. I hope the car can cope with the heat!
