Good morning. I didn't get up till 7.30, it was about 4.30 before i got to sleep.

We've had rain, but it looks as though its brightening up now.

Got braising steak and onions in the slow cooker. Will have it with potato,carrot and swede mash and veg.

Will pop back later to catch up.

Its wet dull and miserable here,
My neighbour two doors up is having her front lawn renewed, the lads are soaking already but getting on with it, I suppose they are used to it.

or so I have read as I don’t do water sea or pool I’m not good with a puddle either 😁

B makes meatballs with pork , we are having a German home made tomato soup with meat balls tonight as it happens.

I agree with the honey , it’s better than a cough mixture , I have never found one that works ,
Maybe it’s psychological that honey works who knows but it feels and tastes nice 😁

Now that the downstairs loo has had the back wall behind the toilet papered and the new sink and vanity unit is finally in,
SIL is coming today to clad the boxing in around the pipes with the same as the flooring ,
It goes around the back of the loo down the window wall and either side of rhe vanity unit,
Ive always hated it white, this way it will blend in better.

We’ve had torrential rain here overnight and earlier this morning. Now the sun is shining. Another restless night, I go to sleep ok. Ut then wake up and that’s it. I think the trouble is your body gets used to that routine and it’s hard to break it.

Daisy, yes I drink hot water with lemon and honey and it’s very soothing, However, my chemist recommended some cough mixture that does seem to be helping so hopefully will soon be better. Sucking boiled sweets helps too.

just rebooked my flu jab. I was due to have it this week but didn’t feel it was a good idea with how I’m feeling at the moment so rebooked it for the end of the month. I was surprised at how many appointments there were available.

just noticed the blue sky has gone and it’s looking very black again so no doubt more rain will come.

Enfys, I think for once, we've both had much the same weather. I'm so glad you've found something to help your cough. It was better to postpone your flu jab until you're feeling better. Our pharmacy is doing flu jabs without an appointment. We went this morning and there was just one person ahead of us. When you wake up in the night have you tried breathing exercises to get back to sleep? There seem to be several methods, but no doubt they are all effective.

Plant, typical of the weather - it always seems to rain when the windows are cleaned. Is H still enjoying having the family around her?

Gem, pork meatballs sounds nice. I think I did make those once. I can't remember what they were like but I remember freezing half of them for another day.

Oma, I'm so sorry you're still suffering with your back. Take care - no climbing ladders or painting ceilings. Your downstairs loo will look lovely, and it's nice to have a change. How is SIL's dad today?

Nanto, I'm not sure of your holiday dates either. Have you started packing?

Lizzie, it's good news about your knees and aqua. I always think it's a relatively safe way to exercise.

SILs dad is ok , he has appointments at the stroke clinic tomorrow morning, he said he feels a fraud as he is feeling fine and slept well last night .

I think your wise to reschedule your flu jab , if your not 100% you may feel unwell after it.
I have the same trouble with sleep,
I can fall asleep no problem , it’s staying asleep I struggle with.
I wake and can’t get back to sleep

Toilet done , just the skirtings to paint tomorrow and it’s finished.

Oma, thank goodness your SIL dad seems to be making a rapid recovery. Have they given him a scan or anything? I hope it's good news for him at the clinic tomorrow.

Are you pleased with how the cloakroom looks now?

A few days ago OH scarified the lawn (it was full of buttercup) and there are now several bald patches. So he decided to reseed it (good idea). The packet said to water the seed in after scattering it. I laughed, saying there's been enough water on the lawn to make a swimming pool, but he was determined to follow the instructions to the letter. Since then it has rained. Then is rained much harder, so hard I couldn't hear the radio in the kitchen because of the noise, and there is now standing water on the lawn. I hope the seeds don't swim away!

We've got friends staying for a couple of days next week, so this afternoon I made a beef and vegetable casserole to freeze, and a chicken casserole for us. I'm pleased I've done them, but I'm shattered.

Lots of rain for most of it it seems!
It was fine for most of the afternoon here, which OH was glad of on the golf course. Her team of 4 were disqualified!! The lady filling in their score sheet did it wrongly, which is grounds for disqualification.

Raining this morning.

We go away on the 17th. Not started packing yet.

DS1 and his x wife coming for dinner. It's her mams funeral on Friday and she has asked him to go with her.
They can't live together but they can't live without each other.
Always there for each other.

I'm doing a roast beef dinner and will probably do a rhubarb crumble and custard for pudding.

Hubby having new tyres on the car today. The chap comes to the house to do it. He's been here before, we had some new tyres put on GD2 car a few weeks ago.

Gem, how disappointing about OH's team being disqualified.

Daisy, good to get the casseroles done early.

Rainy morning here.

Nan2, it's lovely when exes can remain on good terms and be there for each other. It's not always possible I know, but it's the most civilised way.

This afternoon I am going to see my friend who was my neighbour.. We are going for coffee and cake. He has been in hospital. I'm not sure why, but will find out more today.

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. The sun is shining at the moment, but everywhere is very wet from all the rain yesterday.

Nanto, it's good that your DS1 and ex-wife get on so well and are there for each other. The roast dinner sounds delicious, and rhubarb crumble finishes it off nicely. I hope the funeral goes well on Friday. Having someone to come to the house to put new tyres on the car sounds great. I hate sitting around in big tyre centres, although it's the sort of thing OH or our local garage do.

Gem, what a shame OH's round of golf was spoilt by a bit of paperwork not being done properly. I hope your ex-neighbour is ok - I remember you were quite worried about him a while ago.

It's our usual Wednesday today. Last of the summer wine gathering for OH (at a friend's) and dog training for me and Eva.

Not long now 8 days and your off,
We have two sets of friends that are divorced but do everything together.
They get on much better having separate houses ,
They holiday together go shopping etc much better relationship.

B off to have his flu jab, then men coming out again at lunch time to assess if anything needs altering etc for the new boiler,
I don’t think so as it’s in a cupboard in my utility and it’s quite a biggish cupboard.

Downstairs loo almost done just the skirtings to paint and a new toilet roll holder to buy , still needs the towel rail to go back up but then it’s finished at last

Good morning. Nice and sunn6 here at the moment but after all the rain yesterday everywhere is very soggy.

had a much better sleep last night which makes such a difference but I will be careful and not overdo it. Shopping due soon so want to sort my cupboards out. Just given the bathroom a good clean so glad that’s done. It’s not a big room so easy enough. I also have some things to take to the charity shop but will wait until DD can come with me. Otherwise not much happening here today but that’s fine, have a good day everyone,
