Daisy yes the marathon has gone ahead. It started at 9.30 so the fastest runners will have finished ( it's a half marathon)

It is a live performance of Swan Lake by Imperial Classical Ballet.
The rain is slightly easing and should be gone or just about when we have to go out.

I went on The Hippies forum this morning and it seems as a lot of us had had a bad night! I certainly did! As I said ....there must have been something in the air last night, Fernanado!

I was going to watch GS play football, but the weather was awful this morning, so I didn't go! Went back to bed with a cuppa and two paracetemol and watched the wind blowing the trees and the rain across the gardens. DD and SiL here now making up a chair for me for my front room. It's a nice room to sit in and I'm planning on spending some time in there after my op. Keep out of DS's way!!

I have four boxes of craft stuff in a cupboard upstairs, so I decided yesterday to sort it through and get rid of the stuff I know I'll never use again. It was very satisfying and I've only got two of the boxes left. Old knitting and sewing patterns, bits of ribbon etc are all going. I'm keeping my wool and art stuff, but as DD said. if I decide I want to start making clothes again, I'll go and buy modern patterns and material! I don't want them to have to clear out like OH and I had to do with his mother's house. Took a fortnight working all day to get it cleared.

Well after all that rain, the sun has put in an appearance!

Got my pre-op assessment on Tuesday morning. DD and I are going to do the trip tomorrow so I know where I'm going and it looks as if GS is coming with me on Tuesday. Not sure if he's driving me or not.

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies xx

WeeGranny, sorry to hear you had a bad night. I hope tonight is better. The weather really was awful this morning - it's a wonder the football match even took place.

It's very satisfying when you sort something out like your craft boxes. It's something I need to do as well. I hope everything goes well for your pre-op assessment on Tuesday.

Gem, the runners must have been really pleased that the half marathon went ahead as planned. I look forward to hearing about Swan Lake when you've got time to write about it.

I hope you sleep better tonight WG.

We very much enjoyed the ballet, although the lighting left a lot to be desired. When the dancers were at the front of the stage they looked more like ducklings than swans! The lighting made the beautiful white tutus a dingy yellow!

On the way home home we ate at the small Indian restaurant which was just down the road from my last house. The owner was saying they have been there 31 years now. I well remember them opening!

I have given the cat carrier a very good wash so it won't have any smells of other cats or the vets. They have a clean folded towel in there and their new blanket on top.

          Night everyone.

            Good morning everyone
As it is Kitten Day for us, here are some kittens to say good morning

Yesterdays awful morning and early afternoon turned into a sunny end of day. It was very windy overnight though.

Aqua for me this morning, then home, quick shower and off to collect our newest additions!

I'm not sure how much holiday Nan2 has left but I hope she has had a lovely time avoiding our storms and rain!
I hope everyone is well today.

Gemini, Exciting day for you and S. Love a ballet, haven’t seen one for years.

WG, I hope the assessment for your op. Goes well. I hope you are not being disturbed by the work going on in my GS’s garden, he is just making it water tight for the winter. I am trying to sort out my stuff. I have passed on some things to the local needlework group but reluctant to part with it all. I don’t think I will be using my sewing machine again. None of my family are interested. I would quite like to be able to get a bed in the room, especially as we are overloaded now. Perhaps a sofa bed.

Oma, Long wait for your physio appt. I hope they can do something to help. I am sure Dorothy and James will be pleased to see you.

They are starting the re-surfacing of our road this morning, which we have to pay for as it is an unadopted road. All the family are out so presumably they can get through. I am expecting a delivery from Waitrose later and I need to get my car out tomorrow, plus my hairdresser is coming. We live up a track off the road so can’t see what is happening. Houseful again yesterday, it was GD2’s OH’s birthday. They are going to move H to the local nursery school here to save the journey and petrol now they are living here, she has had too many changes in her little life.

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

                  Good Monday morning everyone.

Gem, what a pity about the lighting - it can make all the difference to a production, so I hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment of the ballet.

Oma, it must be an exciting day for you as well, after waiting 11 months for a physio appointment. Dorothy and James will be pleased to see you, I'm sure. How are her legs now? I do hope she's feeling more comfortable - I feel so sorry for her, poor lady.

OH and I have both been feeling very tired for the last couple of weeks. We don't know whether it's just the culmination of going through the worst year of our lives or whether it's the effects of the flu jab. OH's arm is still a bit sore as well, but he still has pain there from the last Covid jab he had a couple of years ago. We massively overslept this morning but luckily have nothing planned. I've been out and done a bit of gardening - clearing the troughs of tomato plants and an enormous courgette plant while it's not raining.

A special welcome to Gem and S's new babies from Scully - DIL1's cat, who has trained the whole family to jump to her every command, and is happy to offer free advice to the babies.

Thank you Scully I'm sure Poppy and Moses will appreciate that.

They were so good on the 25 minute journey home, not a sound. I sat in the back with them and they just looked at me from the safety of their cat carrier. They have eaten and had a play about and are now sleeping. Not of course in the lovely specially bought bed or new soft blanket on the floor, but under the sofa bed

Daisy you and OH have been through hell of a lot this year. Added to that all that you have been doing lately. Listen to your bodies and get plenty of rest xx

How did the physio go Oma?

I contacted Grauntie as I was a bit concerned we hadn't heard from her for a while. She was at the airport, returning from South Africa! We look forward to hearing about it when she's home and ready.

                      WG
Football in the cold and rain is not advisable when your in pain.
Clearing out stuff can be difficult , you always think what if I need it later don’t you, as your DD said you can always buy more 😁
I hope your Pre assessment goes as planned .

                      Daisy
After the year you have had Im not surprised your feeling as you are.
It has to catch up with you at some point , plus you never stop do you,
A good lie in won’t hurt, be kind to yourselves for a changexx

                      Gem
Typical you buy lovely beds and blankets and Moses & Poppy prefer the floor 🤣

                      Plant
I bet it wasn’t cheap getting the unadopted road resurfaced ,
It must be so busy in your DDs house at the moment.
I take it as H is being moved to a nursery that they are staying long term with DD & SIL.

                      We didn’t get to Dorothy & James’s
Dorothy was in bed unwell her legs are in a state and bleeding again so nurses were going in,
I will ring soon to find out what they said.

Physio went well , the problem is from a large muscle that goes from my knee to my ankle ,and around the ankle bone.
Its being stretched due to me compensating for my knee pain especially up and down stairs ,
Plus the way I lie in bed on my stomachs doesn’t help.
Did a full range of movements and picked up on it instantly.

I was in pain when she finished but at least I know what it is now.
She gave me exercises for the next two weeks then I will see her again,
Told me I will be in pain after doing them but it will get better over the months .

Forgot to say I spoke with Sum1 she has seen the physio who was very nice ,
Said there will be an improvement but it will take many months .

We are back.We arrived home late afternoon.
On the way back from the airport,we stopped off at a Toby Carvery, and had a lovely carvery meal.
                        Hopefully, i'll catch up tomorrow.

Plant, I'm sorry I didn't see your post when I posted earlier. I hope all the family were able to get through the resurfacing work ok, and it is clear for you tomorrow. You won't know yourselves when it's done, a lovely smooth road ready for winter. There's never a dull (or quiet?) moment for you, is there. But it's always lovely to celebrate a birthday. I hope little H settles down in your local nursery, but she's such a sociable little soul, I'm sure she will soon make friends and endear herself to all the staff.

Oma, I'm so sorry to hear Dorothy is having such problems with her legs. It's so dreadful for her. It must be quite a relief to have a diagnosis for the pain in your leg, and exercises to help improve things for you. Can you sleep on your back or sides?

Sum1, It's good to hear that the physio can offer promise of improvement for you. Any relief from pain and discomfort is to be welcomed, so I'm keeping fingers crossed for you.

Gem, I can see Scully has already warned Poppy and Moses to start as they mean to go on. I hope they let you have a peaceful night - it will help that they've got each other, and hopefully they will snuggle down together. I suppose they feel safe with a 'roof' over their heads until they get used to their lovely new home.

Nanto, welcome home. The Carvery sounds delicious, and it saved you from cooking. I look forward to hearing all about your holiday when you've got a minute. xx

I had a surge of energy this afternoon and went into the front garden to start cutting the dead flower heads off two Buddleia bushes. I cut some dead wood out of a rose, dead headed a few other plants and did a bit of weeding. Plenty more to be done, but that was enough for one day! I'd just got in when it started to rain, so we lit the woodburner for a cosy, relaxed evening, but Eva reminded me she hadn't had a walk so I took her out after dinner - just a quick stroll round the block. The rain had stopped and the sky was spectacular with rainbows, the setting sun coming through the clouds and actually not cold.

                            Feels chilly this morning .

Only plans for me are to get some washing on, and tidy up.
Getting back in to the old routine.
Hubby out with his pal later for a couple of hours.

I think dinner will be mash, minced beef pie, veg and gravy.

                              Good morning everyone

                              Welcome back Nan2

Daisy, my OH keeps trying to get those type of garden jobs done when the garden is dry enough. An evening round the log burner sounded a perfect end to the day.

I hope the physio exercises help your leg Oma. Poor D though

I feel like the mum of teenagers who is suddenly the first one up on Christmas morning! I was awake to so I got up, turned the heating up and took into the kittens breakfast. Still fast asleep under the sofa! Kittens sleep about 20 hours a day, interspersed with manic dashing about play periods (plus food and toileting of course!) Their room is above the kitchen and we can hear them chasing each other about. They are great fun to watch. I hope to introduce them to the rest of the house maybe by the weekend.

Library this morning, then presumably GS1 coming.
We spend quite a bit of time up with the kittens (during their awake times) to get them used to us. DD and GS3 popped in yesterday afternoon and DD got to see them. I will introduce them to GS3 on Thursday. He knows about them but not that they are here yet!
