Well, I finally made it back here. I don't know where the time's gone today, except possibly fussing first one dog and then the other, and then both together.

Oma, I'm sure your noses would have lead you to that leg of lamb eventually, but at least it was still ok to cook and eat. I once dropped some dog food near the freezer in the garage and didn't see it until I could smell it a couple of days later! How is B's hand now?

Lizzie, what a kind man to mend your GD's puncture. I bet the girl on the metro got a shock when you spoke to her in perfect English! I'm glad she apologised for pushing past you. The boat trip must have felt like a private mini-cruise for you and the other 4 people on it. It sounds lovely and I should think it was slow enough to feel relaxing as well. I'm glad you were able to go.

Enfys, I'm so sorry you are still feeling under the weather. It's easy to overdo things when you're recovering from an illness or accident, so you are wise to take things easy for a bit. Did your DD call round, and what did you find in that drawer? Any surprises?

Plant, how do you keep up with all the comings and goings of your family? Some days you must be reeling, but it's wonderful that they all come home. I hope GD1 and family can get settled soon. They don't seem to have much luck - it's a good job they have got such a lovely DD to love and enjoy. I'm so sorry you're still in a lot of pain. Take care.

Nanto, your poor OH. It's always the way - one thing goes wrong and sets off a chain of little disasters. I hope he fixed the runners in the end.

WeeGranny, I thought about you and your lovely post box tops today. There was a lady on the news who has nearly finished embroidering an exact copy of the Bayeux Tapestry. I think she said it was a 10 year project and had to finish it as she didn't want to be known as the lady who didn't finish the Bayeux Tapestry! She said sometimes she works for 10 hours a day on it. For someone like me who finds it stretches my patience to sew on a button I really admire her determination.

Gem, I'm sure GS 1 and 2 enjoyed their afternoon with you. As the get older the age difference diminishes, doesn't it. It would be lovely if they were life-long friends as well as cousins. Our 19 year old GS and 14 year old GD keep in regular touch with each other. They live too far apart to see each other often, but share the same taste in music and have several interests in common and keep in touch all the time. It's a lovely friendship for both of them.

OH's eye is much better today. It's still a bit bruised and very red where the injection went in, but it's more comfortable, thank goodness. As I said, I seemed to spend a lot of time with the dogs this morning. They get on very well together, but if one has a fuss the other one wants one too. I also spent an hour or so looking up plant varieties for the little memorial garden we are making in memory of GS1. After lunch we went to the garden centre and got most of what we wanted, so tomorrow I'll start planting. I've got several varieties of bulbs for some spring colour and I'll put these in pots and sink them into the ground in case I want to rearrange them when the other plants start to get established. I've got a couple of photos - I'll start a thread about what progress we make.

Going into town today. Just need a few bits and some more euros. Got some left from last holiday, but I don't think there's enough.
On the way home, we'll call at the local post office/shop to pick up a parcel. I ordered Tommie's Christmas present from amazon. No delivery costs if we have it sent to pick up point.

Daisy, glad OH's eye is feeling better. Yes, hubby did get the runner fixed.

      We will eat in town.

        Good morning everyone.

Nan2, well done getting Tommie's Christmas present sorted.. I was browsing online for GS3' s last night. Going for euros is a nice job

OH sounds to have had a rougher ride than usual with his eye this time Daisy.

Another bright sunny morning. I will get some washing on.

Today we are going to the Stephen Joseph theatre in the round in Scarborough. We are going to see the matinee of the latest Alan Aykbourne play. We haven't been to that theatre for some time. My mum and dad loved it and went often.

        Have a good Saturday everyone.

            Gem
            What is the play about?
I hope you enjoy it will you eat out and make a day of it 😁

            Nanto
Not long now and you will be off on your hollibobs as my DD calls it.
            Poor hubby.
I have done that with pins before they were everywhere ,
I did have a strong magnet in Bs tool box I could use to pick them all up though .
but having to rake around the litter can’t have been fun , I bet he said oh gosh 🤣🤣

            Lizzie
The boat trip sounded lovely apart from the low bridges, I have seen on TV people going under having to almost lay down 😁
How kind of that man fixing GDs puncture, still lots of kind people in the world.

            Daisy
Good to hear Js eye is feeling better, I always feel sorry for him when he’s had his injection ,
To be honest I think a day cuddling dogs is better than doing anything else , they make you smile and lower your BP unless they are being naughty 😁

Good idea with the bulbs , next spring once my daffs and the odd tulip have flowered I think I will dig them up and pot them , I wanted to move them anyway.
Bs hand is almost healed looks so much better .

            Enfys
how are you feeling today, how is the cough?

            WG
DSs boss is very good and understanding , just as well really 😁

            Plant
Hows the pain today, did you sleep ok,
I hope GS can help and give you some tips,
Im sure he doesn’t want his beloved granny to be in pain so will help as much as he can xx

I gave downstairs a blitz this morning and then went to Lidl for a few things ,
Washing done and dried just needs a few bits ironing.

I went in the shower late last night , I usually go in on a morning ,
I really shouldn’t have as I went straight to bed and slept the sleep of the dead for a good 6 hours.
Trouble was I woke with a heavy head and my back aches where I had been obviously laying twisted for hours.

I won’t do that again but it was lovely standing in a hot shower getting clean PJs on and straight into bed 😁

B rang MIL last night she was fine seems to be getting on with things, we will go tomorrow afternoon.

Im not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, this is the play https://sjt.uk.com/events/show-and-t...alan-ayckbourn

We will have an early lunch here before we set off, and will either eat out or bring a takeaway back Lovely day here and the same forecast for Scarborough.
Good to hear MIL is doing well at home.

Daisy towels are drying well on the line here so hopefully the same for your washing.

Another sunny day for us, I am going to sit out and soak up the rays. I am still experiencing quite a lot of pain on moving but sitting too long isn’t good either. Only just had a shower and washed my hair. H is loving living here, lots of people to play with.

Gemini, Alan Ayckbourn plays are usually good, have a lovely time.

Lizzie, That was kind of the man to fix GD’s puncture.

Nanto, have a lovely trip into town, are you shopping for food or something more exciting. Holiday for you soon, are you going to have someone to cook for you?

Oma, your Mil is such a toughie. Not much GS2 can do for me, just time and take care. It will be lovely to see him but where he is going to sleep goodness knows. It is a shame I don’t have a bed now in my spare room, It has a desk and all my sewing items etc in there.

Daisy, the plans for that memory garden sound very lovely, look forward to seeing it when it is finished.

Good afternoon. Had a tough couple of days so I decided to,just give in and I’ve been sleeping on and off, I guess I needed it as I had had a couple of bad nights. I feel a bit better this afternoon, my cough seems to be easing, thank you Oma although of course it’s worse when I go to bed. I’m lucky that DD is so close as she had popped in a couple of times otherwise I’ve seen no one all week. But hopefully I can start to get out and about soon, Trouble is my confidence seems very low and I feel nervous about going anywhere so I think I’ll ask DD to come with me a couple of times especially if I drive anywhere.

i don’t mind being at home alone but it’s dragged on and I’m beginning to feel it now.

had to stop writing as I had a awful coughing fit, that serves me right for thinking it was getting better!

Plant, you asked me about my knitting….ive always got a couple of things on the go. Maybe I’ll do a separate post about my projects, I do enjoy it and it helps keep me sane., 😁

It's been a difficult day. Our lovely DIL1's dad passed away suddenly last night. You can imagine the shock for everyone, but especially DIL. Unfortunately he and his wife were on a week-end away - a 2 ½ hour drive for DIL who went to be with her step-mum. Her mum and step-dad were somewhere up north, also on a week-end away.

We were glad we were able to spend some time in the garden, planting things we'd got yesterday, but I feel so sad for my lovely DIL.

Thank you, everyone. I had a chat with DIL this evening. She is in shock, along with the rest of the family. We were due to spend the day with her tomorrow, but have put that off till another day. Apart from anything else, she's very tired after having only about 2 hours sleep last night, and the long drive back home with her step mum.

If it's dry tomorrow we'll get some more planting done, and I'll take photos.

Enfys, the physical and emotional effects of your fall, followed by a cold have laid you low . It's understandable your confidence has been knocked a bit and I think it's a good idea to ask your DD to go with you at first.

We had a very nice time at the theatre and drove along the coast for a look at the sea before coming home.
We had a Chinese takeaway for tea.
I was bringing in the washing when I was stung on the ankle by a wasp! I didn't notice until I was in the kitchen folding towels and felt a sharp pain. It must have come in on my trousers I suppose. That was hours ago and it still hurts a lot!

It's raining, i suppose that's the end of our nice weather.

Daisy, all the family must be stunned with what's happened.

Gem,glad you enjoyed the theatre and the drive along the coast.
                                Hope the ankle feels better.

                                No plans for us.

Dinner is mash, bacon and chicken pie, with veg and gravy.
