Lovely evening yesterday, family gathered next door, all arriving to go to celebrate SIL's mothers 90th. Baby E was his usual delightful self, he is smiling and loves my DD to sing to him, I hope he is good for his parents to enjoy the party. It is lunchtime in a marquee on a farm, quite a crowd as she had 6 children and they have 15 children between them and some Gt.GC. Hope the weather holds as the children get very restless and want to run around in the field and have tractor rides. Hope you all have a lovely day.

Have you ever seen a man trying to in whilst mowing the lawn ? OH was doing that earlier on as it started to rain just as he was halfway through cutting the grass, it was quite a funny sight. He managed to get it finished though.
Its surprising chilly here today so no eating outside for us then .
Have a lovely Sunday ladies
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Our surprise was a real change DD took us to an industrial mill quite close to where we live and we have never visited before just thought it would be a bit boring but it was fascinating it's built on the River Aire and the Calder Canal so massive water wheels, all machinery working, in the 1600"s it was used to crush linseed seeds to make linseed oil and later as in the 1800's it made putty which I didn't know was made from chalk and linseed oil, guess with all the plastic windows there isn't much call for putty now and it closed in the mid 70's and the council restored it, there was the owners house to look thorough fully furnished as I remember my grandmas house, utility furniture crockery etc, there was a hippy wedding going on too at the side of the canal I think they owned barges on the canal it was like stepping into the 60's. Walked along the canal some way and eventually had a pub meal all paid for by DD think it was in appreciation of having g/d last week not that it was necessary but good to be appreciated needless to say fell into bed last night all that fresh air 😴

Plant hope the sun shines for the little people as you say they want to be running around in the field not stuck inside .

My next door neighbour is home and her mother came first thing to start on the garden she managed to get the grass cut and then it rained , they going to gravel her back lawn so she doesn't have a jungle growing but I cant see her keeping on top of any weeds that come through, I cant see her garden from mine we have a high fence in between so doesn't effect me .

Hello everyone
I had a lovely break with my daughters. I will write about it in my journal in a while so won't repeat myself here!
OH arrived safely in Portugal with her 3 friends. It feels a little quiet here, after 2 chatty days with my 3 DDs and now it's just me and the cats!
Oma, I am very sorry to hear about your OHs army pal
Plant, what a lovely family evening!
Qwerty, that sounds a lovely day and you are right, although we don't expect it it's lovely when they do things to show we are appreciated
Mimi, I have to smile at the thought of your OH running with the lawnmower!

Qwerty - we're putting in a lot of work on the allotment but not getting much out of it yet. I dug up one root of new potatoes, but they're not quite ready - I hope there will be more in a couple of weeks. The undergardeners didn't notice the blackfly on the broad beans last week, when I didn't go, and they are now a sticky black mess. But some other crops are growing well, so fingers crossed we won't starve this summer/autumn.
Gem - it's sometimes nice to have a bit of time to yourself, but not too much!
Qwerty - what a lovely daughter you have. It's obvious how much she appreciates you, but it was still thoughtful of her to plan a nice outing like that.
Plant - I hope the other GM is having a lovely birthday. It sounds as though your GGS is a little charmer.
We didn't get the promised rain, so when I got back from the allotment I went out and did a bit more planting in the greenhouse. Every joint now creaks, despite a hot shower.
GD2 for me tomorrow, so I'd better get off to bed and get some sleep!Night, night.

Party was a great success, one of her daughters and GD had decorated the tables with gorgeous flowers and balloons. It didn't rain but was a bit cold and draughty in the marquee, lots of pics were taken by professional photographer of all her family. Young ones and old ones played football and there was a bouncy castle. Baby E was his usual charming self and was much admired by the family. I was feeling very cold when I got back, turned the heating up and promptly fell asleep. Nothing to do with the wine of course.
Pic. On FB of Gemini in the swimming pool, looking very happy.
Your trip sounded very interesting Qwerty, I suppose putty isn't needed much today.
Those pesky black fly are a nuisance, OH used to pinch the tops out of his broad beans. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
