      Sunny here but cold.
I cleared the ironing pile but also did two loads of washing so the ironing will basket will be full again.
I've also made a "white" cake as I had some egg whites left over and googled recipes to use them up and found the white cake recipe. If looks okay but the taste test will come later.
I've also done a little bit in the garden, been for our daily constitutional and made toasties for lunch.I think I need.a sit down.

Hubby already cut into the large parkin and it meets with his approval. Saving the smaller one for mam and dad.
Clover, i've never made white cake,so just googled it.Which recipe did you use please.
        Ironing done here as well.
Not had heavy rain and hailstones here, just the odd light shower.

It has gotten decidely nippy here as the day has gone on, I had to hunt out my indoor Ugg boots as slippers just weren't keeping my toes warm. Eldest DD and family arrived for lunch, sausage casserole and pineapple upside down cake with custard for pud, none for me sadly. Menna saw the Consultant lasy week and he felt she just had a very bad sprain and not a fracture of her arm, but now she has to have an MRI scan on Monday as she is still in a lot of discomfort with it. This should clear up what the damage actually is. I have done a pile of ironing, so I can relax tonight, feet up and enjoy Strictly. Youngest DD and family are out to an organised fireworks display and fish and chip supper in Poole, rather them than me when its chilly. Nanto parkin sounds and looks delicious, something I have never tried making. Oma Shiloh has been great with fireworks, didn't bat an eyelid, fingers crossed he's the same tonight.

Our cats don't seem too bothered about fireworks (however one of them is totally deaf now, and one a little hard of hearing!) As we are going out for a meal tonight, I will leave a radio on for them. Hopefully double glazing and all the curtains closed deadens the sound a little too.

Hope everyone enjoys the fireworks if they are going to a display.
My DDs now 9 months old puppy just barked when she heard them when we were visiting last weekend.

Nanto2 - I've posted the White Cake recipe I used in the Recipe Thread.

I went to butchers seven miles away today early and bought enough for this week and enough to put in freezer for when we get back. I also went to bakers and greengrocer. Needed to go to Tesco to get some bits like small gifts for Barbados friends grandchildren and other small bits for holiday. Unfortunately at the enormous junction at Tesco with three lanes each way left, right, front and back turni to and from every direction the lights were out. It was a bit nerve racking but just push forward girl, don't let them push you out of the way, be brave. So I did. Do not get in my way please!!!

Just heard that son and dil have found their new house. They only put their house on the market on Saturday last week. Their house is delightful and doesn't need anything doing to it but they need to move to make sure Ben gets into a good school (health and education elements). It is in a place called Shepperton, on a lovely green in a sort of village but close to the shops. It is where my butcher is and our elder son and family live at the other end of the town, all of ten minutes walk away.

Seeing them them all tomorrow. Have made a "cake construction kit" for Ben's mummy to put together. His birthday is 18th November when we are in Barbados. I have made two halves of sponge cake, wrapped in foil, sealed in plastic. I have got the Pokemon chase cake topper. I have put jam in a pot for the middle. I shall be making butter icing for the middle and side of the cake. I have put a silver cake board in there. I cannot do any more except phone him on the day. All mummy has to do is assemble the cake, put the topper in the freezer for fifteen seconds and plonk it on the top and she will be a complete heroine.

If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

By crikey,it's cold today and we keep having a few drops of rain.
Made parkin this morning, it's cracked on top but never mind.
Nanto - I'm glad you're enjoying good health. Nana - so sorry, my fingers ran away with me - I really do hope you're on the mend. xxx

It's been cold here today, but just for a short while this afternoon it seemed a bit warmer. I mowed the lawn, despite the grass being very wet. It looks a bit of a mess, but at least there's less of it! As expected I've spent the evening cuddling a shaking dog. I think the thunder shirt helps a bit though, and about 9 pm I was able to let her out in the garden for a minute. I'm just going to risk it again before going to bed. I hope she doesn't spend the night waiting for OH to come in - he won't be back until Thursday!

All this talk of cakes is making my mouth water. All the talk about doing the ironing is reminding me I've got a mountain of the stuff waiting to be done.

Good morning, chilly start to the day.
We went to a lovely firework display last night. Will post a couple of photos later.

Morning ladies a very wet cold day , we didn't get in till very late last night but I couldn't sleep , had a great time really enjoyed ourselves and the fire works were amazing although I felt very loud , personally I wouldn't pay what they asking for them I would rather pay to see a display . Our host pad £144 and they were over in about 10 minutes shocking really .
Have a good day ladies despite the weather xxx

                        Good morning one and all.

Oma - come down here - it's cold but the sun's shining and is warm through the window!

I think fireworks are ridiculously expensive. Years ago I used to organise one for the sailing club the DSs belonged to and every year it got harder to get a decent display within the budget. I think it's even worse now. Perhaps public displays will be the way to go. Glad you enjoyed your evening Oma and Nanto.

Tizzy - that sounds like a scary road junction - the Crooked Billet? I used to dread having to negotiate round there. I bet your DS and family are delighted to have found their new home - I hope it all goes smoothly for them. I remember Shepperton from years ago and there were lots of green spaces and a village atmosphere!

                          Good morning.
My right knee is really painful these days Usually it settles faster than this. I have Drs appointment a week on Wednesday so will talk to her about it then.

Glad you enjoyed the fireworks last night Nan2 and Oma. I saw a few from my window here, and more as I drove into town. We had an excellent Italian meal.

Nothing much planned today, except going to my mums for a while this afternoon, and collecting a few things for her on the way.

                          Happy Sunday everyone!

Bruddy freezing here. There were lots of fireworks last night but because we now have triple glazing we just saw them and didn't hear them. Usually we are surrounded because we can see and hear the ones from Kempton Park racecourse and Staines bypass.

Daisy no it is the one back toward London down from crooked billet by Ashford hospital. You would not recognise the Crooked Billet these days, the actual pub is long gone and flats built on there. The road is the same layout as always and it can be quite confusing as you say. I tend to only use it to get off the M25 and I can turn left and get to my village from there.

Shepperton is still very villagey, we saw the blurb on the house this morning and saw the pictures on the web site. House is outstanding and has a huge kitchen/family room, dining room, reception room, study and downstairs cloakroom. Because it was originally a bungalow the upstairs is quite quirky with sloping ceilings and no ensuite which dil is disappointed with but she says the family bathroom is no nice it makes up for it, there is a small front garden, garage and parking space and the back garden is huge and two sides face a horse field.. £750K reduced from £830K. I hope they are not over stretching themselves but they are generally quite sensible. Other son and dil have the back of their house off at the moment as they are having an extension and new kitchen/diner. We went all the way over there this morning so we could see the children before our holiday and they were not there! Was a bit cross after we had made the arrangements only yesterday but what can you do? We then went over to see Ben as his birthday will be when we are away. Mummy is very worried anout assembling the cake, says she might have to phone me on ?arbados

Zizi - I can get lost in most places, and I'm sure those terrible junctions would reduce me to a nervous wreck these days!

DS's new house sounds lovely - especially with all the fields behind them. I do hope it goes through smoothly for them. Is this ready for when Ben goes to secondary school? His poor Mum - I can just imagine the panic about assembling his birthday cake - you're a star to have done all the donkey work beforehand. I can see you relaxing on the beach, glass in hand, giving instructions to DIL

You must have been quite cross not to see the other two GCs after arranging to go over there.

It's very quiet here today. OH is at DS1's doing some DIY for them, so it's just Eva and me. It's nice to have a quiet and peaceful day, but i wouldn't want too many of them.

Yes, it is quite important with his health problems that the school is easily accessible and also that the school is prepared to take responsibility if he has an episode,

I do not understand the panic about the cake to be honest. Everything is done. You just have to put it together, no baking needed. I said you just need put the two bits together with jam (supplied) and butter icing (supplied) and put the yellow icing on the sides with the spatula and dab it so it looks random. DIL said . "I don't think I have a spatula" I looked into her drawer and she does have a spatula but it is called a a "flip thing". OH well what do I know?
