Mimi, if you are to give into temptation by something, apples are probably a good thing!

How nice that your GD appreciates your cooking Plant, and that you enjoy cooking for her

We had a lovely time with the Omas here. We had coffee, chatted, ate, chatted more etc etc! It is always good to get together with them. We (mostly OH) cooked lunch and it was well received.
Those of you on FB can see a photo of the four of us.

Sadly this is our final day here. I wish we were staying a few days longer! If fine tomorrow we will have last visit to the lake to feed the swans, and trip to the beach before heading back.

As you say Oma,what more could you want.
Plant, so nice to hear your cooking is appreciated.
I made 6 rhubarb crumbles today, with rhubarb from eldest son's garden, enough to feed an army.
He has taken 2, 1 to eat and 1 to freeze. We have 1 to eat and 1 in the freezer.
2 more in the freezer for the youngest son.
4 lots of uncooked rhubarb in the freezer.

Good morning, ladies. Nice to see the sun shining again.

We're off up to DS1's to take GS1 back today, then OH is out all day tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to putting my feet up.

I'm having a nightmare with internet access - again! Sorry this must get very boring but it explains why I'm not commenting on other people's posts - it's taken me over half an hour to get online today, and now I need to get ready to go out. I could scream. We heard yesterday that high speed broadband certainly won't happen this year, as promised. They've been saying 'before the end of the year' for the last 3 years. The rest of the village has it, but you wouldn't believe the problems in getting it here. Sorry - rant over.

I will try very hard to catch up tonight. Have a good day, whatever you're doing.

Oma that doesn't sound like you, can't be bothered to do the ironing

As I have posted yesterday, we, the family including the baby are going to be celebrating GD's birthday today having brunch together in a cafe/restaurant then she and boyfriend are off to London (she still has her student flat) to celebrate with friends and then tomorrow they are going to the Nottinghill Carnival, I am a bit anxious about that. GD came in yesterday with 5 tops she bought in a charity shop, she keeps herself clothed, being a student from charity shops. I bought a folding stick for £4 a foldaway bag for £1 and a large bag for my swimming things from a local charity shop yesterday.

Lovely start to the day, have a lovely day whatever you are doing

Plant I hope you all have a lovely day together , funny the Gems and us were just talking about charity shops yesterday and how popular they are now ,S had seen two lovely waist coats in one the day before but sadly they were too small for her , she was a little disappointed as they were just what she was looking for and very cheap.

No I'm having a lazy day so not doing any ironing at all but to be honest there is only about 8 items

Turned out very warm today. We went to Pontefract for a change.
Plant, there are some good bargains to be had in charity shops.
                      Oma, lazy day sounds good.

Hi everyone we're back in York
We had an hour or so on the beach this morning. Took our chairs for sit and look, and went for a walk in the sea and rock pools.
We were home just before 3.
Tesco delivery has been, and we have been to look around the very nice extended house down our street. OH is hitting few balls at the golf course now, as she hasn't played all week and is in a competition tomorrow!
A bit of online time for me, then shower and get ready for this party (OH's brothers belated 60th)

I hope you are enjoying some relaxing time today Daisy!
I hope you are having a lovely family day Plant
Good for you with the lazy day Oma!

Had an amazing brunch, GGS was a star as usual, GS3 picked me up to go to JL to get him some kitchen equipment for University, he chose two large cooking pots for pasta, curries etc., some chopping boards, peeler, he already has knives, he came back to join the family for cake. All gone home now or up to London, DD has taken the other GM home and two to the station then DD, SIL and GD1 who is at work at present, are off to a party so a quiet night in for me

Plant - your family is a whirlwind! But lots of fun, and very close. I think brunch is a fantastic invention. I'm not generally that keen on breakfast, lunch often ends up as a boring sandwich, and when I first 'discovered' brunch in America I thought it was wonderful! And it has the added advantage of not having to get up early for it. Did you enjoy lots of lovely cuddles with GGS? It sounds as though GS3 is going to be popular with his house mates - curries, pastas etc. I seem to remember when both my DSs went off to Uni they wanted tin openers!!

Gem - good to hear you're back home safely. Not much relaxing today, with taking GS1 back home. We were lucky with the Bank Holiday traffic though, as we were going in the opposite direction for both journeys!

Oma - I'm quite worried that you've left your ironing, even if it is only 8 items.

It's lovely to hear all about the bargain finds in charity shops. I think I must go into the wrong ones - I very rarely get lucky.

For the first time in weeks, we have the house to ourselves - OH, me and Eva. Eva had a lovely time today at DS1's - playing with Bailey and a lovely yellow lab called Cookie, who they are looking after for a couple of weeks. I think she'll sleep for at least a week!

GD1 has had her birthday treat/party today. It sounds as though she loved it - cutting her first CD - I can't wait to hear it.

Tomorrow OH is going to Wings & Wheels at Dunsfold (near Haslemere in Surrey). For some reason the friend he's going with wants to leave at 6 am. It's only 1 - 1 ½ hr journey and it doesn't open till 9!! I think they're mad. But I'm hoping to have a very relaxed, 'me' sort of day. But shhhhhh..... don't tell anybody/

Daisy it is GD2 who creates a whirlwind, her boyfriend can't keep up with her. GGS isn't giving cuddles yet but delights in blowing raspberrie, his daddy has taught him.

Enjoy your day Daisy it will be a quietly with OH out and Eva exhausted, enjoy

Hubby just gone with his brother to a car boot a few miles away.Dread to think what he will come back with.
Going to get showered now, then put some washing in,then breakfast.
