Yesterday my Niece had her Graduation from Uni , She was a young mother like me and has two sons when they grew up she went back to her education she's 46 now and just received her PHD she's going on to do her Masters I think that's what it is . We are very proud of her , we have quite a few in the family who have degrees including my DD who did two , we also have lawyer,Pharmacists, Lecturer, Junior Dr , Teachers , amongst our children, nieces, nephews ,sons daughters . But this one seems so special as she went back to it a lot later than all the rest. She is my Sisters middle child my sister is bursting with pride 😊

Mornin all. Daisy thanks & I'm so sorry that your DIL's father had a bit of a scare. I hope he's ok now. Libra I was woken by a car alarm going off at 4 am. Awful I know but I was so tired I just thought 'If it's being stolen, just hurry up & do it then I can get back to sleep'. 😪No cars missing, just looked. My day is sorted. I had the oven shelves in Oven Pride overnight, so the ovens are all sparkly. Most of the housework done, just got a bit of ironing to do.
Best thing is NO COOKING. We are going for a pub meal about 1 ish.

In keeping with my new 'getting more exercise' routine, I am walking down to the village to do a few things now, instead of doing it in on the car on the way to DDs later, as I usually would!

Had a visit from a lady from the falls clinic today, I passed all her tests but she has recommended that I attend a falls clinic to strengthen my legs and help my balance.

Daisy our children and grandchildren are brighter than we were , when we were young we were encouraged to work and bring a wage home not to continue with education , we were too poor . Now our family want more for themselves and I think we all encouraged them to better themselves . We are lucky we have a large family and not one is unemployed. As my D'S said he would clean toilets and sweep roads as long as it was a job ,A good attitude I think

Jane - how did the viewings go?

Oma - It's a different world, isn't it! But when I left school there was full employment and getting a job was easy. Wages weren't great, but it was the same for everyone in any large working-class industrial city, and there wasn't the range and choice of goods in the shops to make people wish for lots more money. I never got any careers advice at school, either, and found myself doing a secretarial course after school almost without me realising it! I do think there was more ambition for our own children - although I didn't pressure our sons in any direction I did encourage them to stay in education and get as far as they could and they both got good degrees.

Plant - a friend of our with balance problems joined a class at the local leisure centre specially for improving balance etc. It was very useful and not too physical.

I have my purse back, so now can go shopping for DD2s birthday! We called round to DD3s to collect it last night. They had a good time in Cornwall, and enjoyed surfing.
