I am on a train going to Birmingham. There is a Chinese Asian type chap sitting nearby who has the most foul eating habits, STOP MAKING NOISES for goodness sake and STOP yelling down your phone! I cannot take a whole journey of this. I was going to work but I think I will put my headphones on and watch something downloaded so I don't have to hear him.

Will be in Brum overnight, then meeting my apprentice colleague at 8.10 and trotting off to a meeting. He is doing Ramadan so didn't want to stay overnight (cannot remember if I am repeating myself). Was a bit dissapointed to hear that he has been for an interview with a rival company but I suppose I cannot complain as that is what I am going to do but he was supposed to be my successor. There is only one other likely person and I cannot stand her. The thougt of handing all my precious contacts and activities over to her makes me seethe. Well anyway I might not get the job or I might decide not to leave if I do get it. We will hopefully be back to London on the 14.50 train tomorrow.

Bit brighter today, went into Barnstable, lovely market there, bought some lovely bread and some cheeses plus of course some red wine to go with it. Granddaughter riding tomorrow, was hoping to see my friends but she is not well enough yet, perhaps a meet later in the week, I think we are destined not to meet up, first I bust my shoulder, now she is unwell which is very upsetting as the purpose for the trip was for me to meet up with them and GD to ride. I am very glad my DD decided to come too but she is going back on Wed.

Well, the "men" arrived on the dot this morning....we now have a skip on the front garden half full of tiles, bath panel etc and a bathroom with bare brick walls. I must say, though, that it was not as bad as I had imagine. The young man doing the work was very tidy, swept up everywhere and even wanted to wash the front step! So looking forward to,getting this job done and feel happy with the workmen...so far

lovely sunshine this afternoon and even managed to,get some gardening done before the green bin is collected tomorrow.

Thinking about going onto a water meter now we won't have a bath, anyone else on one?

We are on a water meter and have been for a number of years. Our bills are £9 a month and nine years ago before we had a meter they were £33 per month. You need to investigate the soak away. You can get a rebate of something like £12 a year if you dont have one (or is it if you do have one?). I asked for a meter when I realised we were paying the same money per month as the lady downstairs who fills an enormous water vat two or three times a week for her horses and the next door neighbours who a few years ago were a family of two adults and two young children so obviously more use if of washing machine etc.

Well, after this mornings rain, the sun came eventually came out.

Didn't get my washing out till 2'oclock but it dried lovely.

Plant, hope the weather picks up for the rest of your holiday.

Goodness, Zizi, that's a big difference. Our water people will install one and you can have it removed within 24 months if you don't like it, so well worth a try I think.

DD not having a good week she had to have the cat put down this evening she had cancer but had been receiving chemo to ease the symptoms she seemed fine yesterday when I saw her but took a turn for the worse this morning, she's very upset she has had her about 10 yrs she was going to Manchester on business tonight for tomorrow but the boss has allowed her to stay at home.
SIL has had a bad back as long as I have known him, a lump of gristle that keeps popping out from between his discs but this time the chiropractor couldn't help him, and referred him to his doctor, luckily he is in BUPA so last Friday the doctor rang the hospital and by the end of the day he had an appointment for today the consultant thinks it is a sciatic nerve and has arranged an MRI for tomorrow hope they can sort it he thinks it maybe surgery but it's gone on so long it has to be sorted, marvellous though how quick a private hospital can do it 🤔

Excuse my iPad - it doesn't like this wet weather! LOL I intended to say 'at leas the cuddles make it all worthwhile'. I will have to give it a severe talking to.

Enfys - our water bill was almost halved after we went on to a meter. I think we had to change when we had a new shower installed. It's certainly worth looking into. Thank goodness all is going well with the new bathroom.

Qwerty - poor DD and SIL. It's awful when you lose a much-loved pet, and back trouble is just that - trouble, trouble, trouble. Enjoy your trip to the Patisserie - fortify yourself for next week. Our bathroom scales are Salter and weight in stones, pounds or kilograms - you just change the little switch on the back.

Plant - I think tomorrow should be a bit better for you, if not first thing, then later. I hope the lovely goodies in Barnstable made up for the rain.

I had a lovely morning with GD1 - I don't often have her on her own, but she was on an Inset day and GD2 was at playgroup. She was thrilled to visit her old playgroup when we went to pick up GD2 - she hadn't been back there for nearly 2 years. The hard part was trying to get them both back in the car - GD1 was chattering 19 to the dozen to the teachers, and GD2 having just fallen headlong into a large muddy puddle, still wanted to play in it!

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, what better start to the day.

Enfys, our water bills halved when we had a meter fitted. We still use the water as we did before. Pleased the bathroom renovations are going well.

Qwerty, sorry to hear about DDs cat, and hope SIL gets sorted out now.

Qwerty when husband had his knees done I was amazed at the speed of proceedings in a BUPA hospital. We went in, saw the doctor, had a chat, husband went for X Rays and by the time we walked back to the doctors office in the same small building he had them on his computer. Last time I went for an NHS X Ray I waited outside for almost an hour before I was X rayed (despite having an appointment) and then had to wait two weeks for the results. The doctors surgery is all of half a mile from the hospital!

Good morning, the sun is shining!

Qwerty, so sorry about DDs cat, I fully understand how she must be feeling.
We got my mum a water meter fitted last year and she saved loads. She was paying thc same as her neighbours, a couple with 2 boys, 2 dogs, 2 cars - they must use 4 or 5 times the water my mum on her own uses!
Daisy it sounds as though your GDs kept you busy

GS day today. OH will be out golfing. It's a nice day so far, he and I may go to the park.
Going to The Mystery Plays in York Minster with DD3 (my little theatre going companion) tonight. Can't wait!
