Good morning all, well its nearly here . It seems like only last month that we were trying to cope in the heatwave.

Galmm your 2nd DGS , it so easily could have been so very much worse. Thank goodness he was treated in time.


Tesco delivery went well . There was only two subs. The gamon and a box of biscuits . Thankfully the 'posh' dessert arrived all boxed up so it didn't get damaged.
We were pleased to see that the delivery driver was a favourite of ours, always cheerful and helpful so the Christmas tip we gave him was very much deserved.

Today I am going to cook the gamon and we will have some of it with a salad for lunch
As eldest DS won't be here until Tuesday next week I am going to cook a Christmas dinner (lunch time) for the 3 of us then .

Later today we will pop round next door to give them their Christmas present. I'm not being caught out like last year . As it was our first Christmas here then we didn't expect Christmas presents off them . Christmas Eve they turned up only our doorstep with gifts for us in a pretty Christmas gift bag
6 o'clock that Christmas Eve evening we were in the Co-op buying their Christmas present !

Good Christmas Eve morning, everyone.

I am finally feeling Christmassy, with all the baking done, presents wrapped, decorations sparkling (well, they're up anyway) and apart from needing to push the sucky up thing around, the house is as good as it gets. Today is for setting the table and prepping as much food as we can for tomorrow. DIL1 is making a very good recovery from her eye op and already has better vision in that eye than she's ever had. They are coming down this afternoon and are bringing supper with them.

Tomorrow we've got friends coming round for a traditional Christmas drink, DS2 and family will arrive as and when - it's all very relaxed (I hope!)

But in case I don't get a chance in the morning I want to say my thoughts will be with those of our grannies who may be struggling to feel festive at the moment. Sending you warmest hugs. xx

Mimi unexpected Christmas presents are so embarrassing! I know some people keep a couple of things like box of chocs or bottle of wine ready wrapped under the tree for such eventualities. Then of course you get to keep them if you don't get any unexpected gifts!

The pantomime last night was lovely, we had such a good time I really felt Christmas had begun, and GS2 enjoyed his first ever panto. It poured with rain and I had an unexplained severe ibs flare up meaning I had to visit the loo in Pizza Express several times (thank goodness I was fine at the theatre) but I didn't let it spoil my outing.
I have been awake in pain a lot of the night with pills and a hot water bottle. Fingers crossed the worse is over. I feel much better now.

Today I will ice the cake and make the shepherds pie for Boxing Day. The quorn one has been done and is in the freezer. No other plans today. I have had a busy week so a day in will be welcome. We have a luxury fish pie and some prawn cocktail from M &S for tonight's meal. Our next door neighbour will bring OH's present round after dark and leave it in our garage. I will pop out and attach the label.

We are sorting the Deserts out for tomorrow , this year it’s Sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and the Traditional Jaffa cake ,
It takes so long to make each individual parts of the Jaffa cake it’s a faff on but everyone loves it ,
A bit too much chocolate ganache for me too sickly .

Ive put clean Duvet covers on both beds , put bottom sheets on last night but not covers , by time I remembered the beds needed making I couldn’t be bothered with the covers , had a quick tidy but don’t intend doing much else .

I am sorry I didn’t get on yesterday, I had an appt. With the nurse for an injection for my bones in the morning and GD wanted me to go down to her and H and I didn’t leave them until 7pm, came home and found GS2 and his wife had arrived and the bubbles were open. I went to feed the ducks after I saw the nurse, they were all on the grass and when they spotted me coming they all flew into the water and were not interested in my food, obviously well fed.

It's a busy and social time of year, no worries if we can't post as often as we usually do!

Good morning, I have got all my shopping done for the meal on Boxing day. I have got the table in here so will get it arranged on the day.

My vertigo has cleared, the physio is so good with it. I have to go back in January and he will ease my neck.

Good afternoon all. Hope everyone is well and looking forward to tomorrow. Good new re your DIL Daisy. Thank yoU for the card and the e-card.

I don’t have anything much to do, DDhas it all under control so I’ve had an easy day. Went to the library for knit and natter this morning, only 3 of us there but was nice to chat, didn’t get any knitting done, I think the ladies in the library were pleased we were there, it was very quiet otherwise.

DGS has just been over to borrow some baking powder, he is baking for his girl friend as part of her Christmas present! Never thought I’d see the day 😀. He’s getting quite good at it too.

So I’m going over to DDs tomorrow, a quick walk over the road. DGD has two days off as the restaurant is closing so that will be lovely to see her. She is taking charge of the roast potatoes and gravy, she is very fussy about her gravy and it’s always delicious. It will just be the 5 of us for lunch then GS GF will come over for the evening.
