Daisy, I never realised either about the ice! The lift is working again, I got a message from GD1 this afternoon if I fancied a bike ride, I decided to go and on my way down the stairs I met the 2 lift mechanics, I asked if they were going to mend it today, they said that the wrong size part had been sent and they would have to go back to their factory to straighten the other part in a vice, I told them, not a problem, I have a vice in the garage, I got a strange look but they followed me and they used my work bench with the vice, plus the collection of hammers and they got it straightened out! I went for the ride, we went to my veg man, we had a few showers along the way but we enjoyed it. When I got back the lift was working again and the men were drinking coffee at my neighbours. One of they young men was helping on Wednesday, he said the firemen wanted to cut the doors open, if they had done that we would have been without a lift for a month! Luckily he saw another way to get them out. End of the lift drama. I hope.

Lizzie - I can just imagine the lift engineers' faces when you offered your vice, and a bench to work on to say nothing of all the tools! I must say, I'm very impressed, too. thank goodness it's working again though.

I was telling GD1 about it, she said she played a part in it all, if she hadn't asked me to go for a bike ride I wouldn't have been going down the stairs. She was right as well.

I decided to go to the Lidl when the lift worked and get stocked up before the bad weather, I wasn't the only one with that plan!! So many empty shelves, I got most of what I wanted, I just need to go for bread etc this morning. I am not used to buying for the whole week so have to organise myself.

I am going to DS2 for lunch, I told them if the weather is good.

I hope B soon feels better Oma. The majority seem to have no side effects but those who do feel rough for one or two days, with headaches, temperature and tiredness.
One of OH's golf friends was off it for a few days last week after her jab.

Lizzie, you were the hero of the hour. I would love to have seen their faces when you showed them your vice and hammers. They will be knocking on your door if it gets stuck again.

Oma, so sorry to hear B has had bad side effects from the jab. I have a friend who was vomiting for two days.

Rugby watching this afternoon for me, I shall go in next door and watch it with Sil, Baby H was a bit unsettled yesterday, I hope she settled and they had a reasonable night. Her daddy just takes it all as normal but GD gets a bit upset as she thinks she is doing something wrong, I think we have all been there.

I remember when the GC were small and had a sleep over Gemini, they used to slide into our bed in the morning, a bit early sometimes.

Lovely sunny day atm, we are expecting snow tomorrow, can't say I am looking forward to it.

Good morning, ladies. It was very misty when I got up about 8 o'clock, but the sun is brightening up now and it all looks very pretty. Even so I'm glad I do't have to go out in it. Our dog food delivery arrived ok, so it can't be too bad out on the roads round here and down to Devon. The various weather warnings for most of the country don't look so good.

Nanto - what beautiful, happy tulips. Thank you.

Lizzie - I bet the lift men told their families all about this lady with all the gear.

Oma - poor B, I'm sorry he had a bad night after the jab. Take it easy today, B.

Gem - how lovely having your early morning visitor for juice and a biscuit. As you say, there comes a point where they are happy to have a lie in. Enjoy your morning with them, and I hope the roads are ok up there.

Plant - I hope the rugby's a good match. Are you watching England v Scotland? I hope little H is ok. I think we all went through the stage of thinking we, as new mums, were doing it 'wrong' when baby was unsettled. You've got so much more confidence with the second one.

We've just stripped the bed, but no plans for other domesticity today. I'm going to do some painting while I'm in the mood.

                              Have a good day everyone.
