I forgot to mention the state the oven was in before it was cleaned. There's no-one more surprised than us to see the results. How do you clean a microwave? That's our next job.

Nana i use the Dettol surface spray for the microwave and fridge.
I've seen on facebook some use zoflora for the microwave and fridge.
I prefer to use the Dettol surface spray,it's fragrance fee.

Thanks Nan2, but I'm not sure if a spray would get the baked on food splashes off. I'll look if I have any Dettol spray in. I think I have. I wanted to avoid an abrasive cleaner if possible. I tried cutting up two lemons & putting them with a little water in a bowl, boiling it up & leaving overnight but that didn't work.

I was wondering if there's a section on GRU for handy cleaning tips. Maybe this cleaning stuff should be moved to there if there is?

My microwave is a combi and it is stainless steel inside and out so I use a stainless steel cleaner spray.

Good afternoon all.

I hope everyone is well


I have had a busy day today, not like yesterday when I couldn't get myself motivated at all.

I did the usual tidying up of the sitting room etc, then I took down the shower curtain, cleaned the shower curtain rail , gave the bathroom a good clean , put up a new shower curtain and washed the other one.
I cleaned the fridge ( do it every week ) and used what was in it for lunch, roast chicken drumsticks with carrots, cauliflower and broccoli.
Ordered a few birthday cards on line from the Card Factory . ( Much cheaper than Funky Pigeon and Moon Pig ) .
Added a few items to my Tesco grocery order for tomorrow, one item being a volume mousse for my limp hair as it's not going to get a decent hair cut anytime soon!

Then we assembled the water feature and put it on the patio. We now have the relaxing sound of trickling water when we sit outside.

Nana I have seen a product called Angry Mama ( think I have the name correct) . It's for cleaning microwave without the use of detergent. I just tend to wipe it over each time after use with some washing up liquid in water and then a squirt of detol antibacterial spray. I haven't poisoned anyone....yet !

Spoke to GD1 today.her chest is feeling less tight and her hubby sounds as if he is on the mend.
As Daisy said,they have youth on their side.

I have seen the Angry Mama's for the microwave.

I've been out clapping again.👏👏👏👏👏😘😥 My neighbour, (nurse) who came out of early retirement to help is on the Virus wards at our local hospital. Some terrific examples of humanity, then you get stupid people like Trump.🤬

All our cul de sac came out, apart from the usual family. We all stood in a big (properly distanced) circle and when we'd finished clapping we chatted for a little while and had a glass of wine. We all supplied out own, so no chance of passing anything on. One topic of conversation was the "Lockdown" games which Nana had kindly provided. Someone's also circulated them on our Self-isolation Whats App group, but that's about a week behind us!

Nana - good for you neighbour who has returned to nursing to help out. I hope she stays safe and well.
