Good he didn't linger but such a shock for his family , I said to B surely he had some symptoms , My Brother said he was fine though and in good spirits when he went walking with him and was talking about looking for a holiday soon , strange isn't it ,

Collected new bedding from Dunelm, I decided to buy another set the same as I bought a while ago, they go with the bedroom very well, they are designed by Emma Willis. I also bought a throw also designed by her and some new lampshades in a sort of mustard yellow to brighten up the grey and white. Fortunately my curtains are a neutral colour so not intending to change those, well not at the moment.

Has anyone heard from Clover, I wouldn't think she would go to family if G is still not well.

PGood evening and what I hope will be a Happy New Year, things are a little strained here at the mo with OH it’s not a good time of year for him the new year . Why do some people like me sail through life with a half full glass and others don’t? He’s sleeping a lot at the moment due to upping his tablets .
We are at Dd tomorrow which we’ll enjoy , quiet evening in tonight , we are away for a few days next week staying at the hotel my DS got married at The Old Swan i havnt been back since he got married it’s the hotel in Harrogate where Agatha Christie stayed when she was in hiding, hoping it will cheer himself up.
I think we havnt heard from Clover because she has gone to her Dds I hope so, I don’t seem to have seen anything of Avo maybe missed her post .

Oma sounds like your expecting a houseful , food sounds just up my street. Sorry to hear about your friend such a shock !

Its been surprisingly quiet here , we had a few fireworks on midnight then nothing ,
The people the bottom of our cul-de-sac always have a New years eve party but nothing this year.

We had a quiet night watched the new Christmas Carol that we had taped and a cup of tea

First year without GS1 staying that was strange but he will be out somewhere and DD & SIL don't go out new year these days

Good morning.

We were up later than expected because we were watching the Downton Abbey DVD’s and before we knew it, it was almost midnight. Just as well really as there were loads of fireworks going off and took a while to get to sleep.

DD rang and asked us out to lunch today at the local carvery, nice surprise, so no cooking for me today.

Qwerty, enjoy your little break, always good to have a change of scene. Thinking of Clover and Glam, and sending best wishes to you all for a happy and healthy 2020 xx

Oma, it wasn't quiet here, so many LOUD bangs to at least 3am, there was thick fog though earlier in the evening and although it did clear we didn't get the view we usually have over Delft etc, there were some lovely fireworks down from me though, must have spent a fortune on them!!! It was on the news that there is for €77 million sold on fireworks this year and those are the legal ones, with the illegal ones the amount will be much higher. A lot of money to go up in smoke.

I am tidying cards etc, lights down a few days now. Enfys, enjoy the meal.

Plant, new bedding sounds nice, I am one that looks and never buy, seem to have so many in my cupboard.

Qwerty, hope it is going better with your OH. Enjoy the stay in the hotel.

Lizzie they are lovely to see but as you say money going up in smoke , they are far from cheap to buy ,
I love to see them but this day and age it should be only organised displays I think ,

Plant when you get new bedding you have to buy stuff to match now don't you what colour did you go for ?

Nanto ours will come down tonight after all the family have gone home tree will come down tomorrow morning and order will be restored .

Next few weeks will be sad for Glamm laying her John to rest , Life is so precious we must make the most of it ,

Was also wondering about Paul , Christmas without Tizzy must have been hard .

Well we have decided this will be the last New years day at ours its getting too much and as much as we love having everyone around squeezing everyone into a shoe box is a nightmare ,
furniture has to be re arranged tables put in shed etc , plus it costs a blooming fortune and two days cooking and prepping ,

So next year we are going to suggest a big family meal out ,

I have been showered done my hair but put my PJ's back on I will get dressed later , B busy making Curry's so im having 10 minutes

Good morning and Happy New Year! I like round numbers so am happy with 2020. As I have been planning our Florida holiday for so long, my head has been in 2020 for some time, and I had to make an effort to remember it was still 2019!

No hangover here Nan2. Due to my regular 2 glasses of mulled wine at the beginning of the evening then water the rest of the night apart from fizz at midnight, I am as clear headed as always on January 1st We got to bed just after 2 I think.
There were 11 of us so quite a houseful. A good night was had by all!
Our friend T is here, having stayed the night. We all plan a slow quiet start to the day. We have no plans for today, I'm not sure about her, but she will go home at some point and start packing I imagine for Dubai in Friday!

Janet we had fog earlier in the evening, lots of loud fireworks at about 7.30pm for some reason. We did hear them at midnight, and I heard some when I was in bed which was probably about 3am!
Enfys, a family meal how lovely, enjoy!
Qwerty, I hope the break does you both good. I'm sorry to hear things are not so good with OH again.
Plant we got 2 sets of new bedding in the Debenhams sale before Christmas. Nice to have a change.

That’s it, all over now. Time to move on in this house. Looking forward to planning the year’s holidays now. Has anyone been to the Edinburgh Tattoo? It has been on my list for ages but I haven’t got round to booking it. I will research today.
Nothing much doing here, we will probably go for a walk along the sea front. Just too exciting!
Still full of food from last night’s jollifications and in need of more sleep! I can rectify these easily though. Thank goodness I don’t have to deal with small children!
Thinking of, and sending good wishes to all who are having a hard time just now. Let’s hope the new year brings respite of some kind.
