Good morning Nan2, Oma, Clover and ladies.
I hope you get some time to yourself today Nan2.
I hope your MIL is in a good mood Oma.
    Happy decorating Clover!

This afternoon I will take my mum to her friend's house for tea and cake. While she is there I will do her shopping then pick her up. The last few times she has been to her friend's I have noticed she is very argumentative and awkward with me afterwards. Fingers crossed today may be different. If she was a child I would say You are not going again! I have a meal out with 2 friends tonight so at least something nice to look forward to if she is like that.
This morning I will walk down to the village to the post office and greengrocer and have look in the charity shop. OH is playing an away match so I will do a little more of our holiday ironing while catching up on programmes.

Have a good day everyone. Safe travels to Qwerty.

      Good morning Grannies.

It's another lovely sunny day here - no sign of any rain (shhhhhh ...)

Clover - it's good to go out and get a bit of fresh air. Don't work too hard on the decorating, there's no rush.

Nanto - I'm having a 'catch up' day today as well. OH has gone to the hospital to see a friend and then on to the dog rescue place to take some beds and other doggy things we don't need, plus a raffle prize as it's their open day on Sunday. We adopted a lovely Border Collie from this centre about 30 years ago, and always have a soft spot for them.

Gem - I do hope your mum is ok after visiting her friend. I wonder why she's been so difficult after visiting her before. Anyway, fingers crossed today will be better.

Qwerty - I'll be thinking about you hitting the high spots of Prague this week-end.

Oma - I hope your MIL is ok, too. Take it easy - heavy and muggy aren't good for headaches etc. x

OMG we have so much heavy rain my garden is flooded its absolutely teeming down ,
Went to MIL's had to take some stuff to post office for her then she wanted some Warburtons toastie bread in the Orange pk , SIL had already looked in Morrisons , I knew they had it in Aldi so popped there for it , Took it back it was the wrong size !!!

why is it wrong , well it wont fit in my toaster ,
        Cut the crust off then
        well that's wasting Bread
But you don't eat the crust anyway , and its only £1 its not breaking the bank

After moaning and groaning she gave in , she buys this bread every week how come its all of a sudden too big ?

        Honestly she's impossible to please

She then wanted us to drive into town to take her library books back , its a right faff on getting parked ,
SIL was there she said im going down tomorrow Mam I will take them back

No I need them back today or it will cost me 12p

SIL said my god mother I will pay the bloody 12p

sometimes I have to bite my tongue and walk away , and she's been so good lately too , I was saying to Gem yesterday how good she had been , I should have kept my mouth shet

We shall have to make sure we are never like your mother Gem and your Mil Oma. I hate asking anyone to do something for me if I can help it.

Cloudy but warm here, I have spent the morning doing some urgent hacking back of brambles and Ivy from around the greenhouse. My DD and Sil decided to let the grass grow long in what is now an orchard but the grass spreads into my border. I strimmed it back, cut down brambles, trimmed back a large Rosemary overgrowing a path etc etc. Now I am going to have yet another shower, put on some clean clothes, have lunch and watch the tennis. I will do some watering this evening.

Oma I hope the rain stops soon or you will need an ark.

Oma - reading about your MIL today made me think of your average tired three year old who you just can't please, and I know that's how Gem's mum is sometimes as well.

I wonder how old I have to be to get away with behaving like a fractious three year old!

At least you won't have to water tonight. I'll think of you sitting on your nice new sofa when I'm hauling the hosepipe round the garden. Did the rain clear the air a bit or is it still muggy?

Plant - goodness me, you're brave tackling brambles and ivy. You deserve a sit down and some good tennis to watch this afternoon.

Had a few little spots of rain earlier, but its very warm now.

Didn't get as much done as i planned.GD2 came, then about 20 minutes later her dad arrived.
So an extra 2 for dinner.

Gem, hope your mum isn't argumentative today.

GD2 comlpaining its too warm, so her and grandad have gone for a ride on the quad,to cool down.

Nanto - not many GDs have a granddad who rides a quad bike! That's very cool - in every way.

Yes, Oma, hairdresser in the morning and stitches out in the afternoon. didn't watch much tennis, fell asleep in the sunroom listening to an audible story. I hope there will be some sunshine when I visit Yorkshire next week.

Good evening all. It’s been a dry but muggy day here, we seem to have escaped the heavy rain that some of you have had.

I dread to think what the neighbours must have thought by the shrieking coming from our bedroom this morning!
As it was a very muggy and uncomfortable morning I had the back kitchen door and windows open, along with the sitting room and bedroom windows . I was in the sitting room when I caught a glimpse of some thing black fly into the bedroom.
Upon inspection OH declared I was imagining things as he couldn’t see anything. Just as he was leaving the room a rather large black moth or butterfly flew straight into his face the disappeared behind the wardrobe.
                          I can’t leave it there I said , if it’s a moth, I don’t want it eating my clothes!
So I got my long handled duster in the hope of persuading it to move....and it did...straight up my dress
It was then I started to shriek. I began rushing around the room gripping on to the hem of the dress with a flapping kind of action trying to persuade it to remerge .
After what seemed like a 5 minutes of panic ( 3 or 4 seconds more like ) it flew out through the open window.

Clover what room are you decorating, I have missed the gossip as I haven’t been on here for a few days .

Oma I used to have ‘ bread issues ‘ like your MIL has, but I was more than happy to cut the bread to make it fit but after a visit to Asda a few years ago to purchase a new toaster it is no longer a problem. The slots on this toaster are longer than usual so all makes of bread fit , even Warburtons bread .

Hope I find all our ladies in good health
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Nice to see you popping in Mimi.
Another one with a story about creatures in the early morning.
Just read Daisy's account of the spider in the shower.

Had one heck of a thunderstorm about an hour ago. the rain poured down.
                            Sunny again now.

                                Nanto - I can't see the photo.

Mimi - what a pair we are! Your neighbours must have thought someone was being murdered. You'd have thought they'd have come and checked you were ok, wouldn't you! I wonder what it was?

So after my mercy mission for Ginge I got dressed very quickly and made a start on much-needed housework. I cleaned out the 'dog cupboard' - where we keep spare leads, treats, a board, scales and containers for prepping dog food etc. Then I got cracking with the yellow thingy and the sucky up thingy. It was hot sticky work, so I wasn't looking my best when the doorbell went and it was a friend of OH's who had come round to sort out our ticking clock which wasn't ticking. His wife is always, always immaculate and I don't think I could have looked more scruffy if I'd tried. At least I was dressed!

I really don't know why all toasters are a size that the bread will fit into. We have to cut home-made bread in half to fit in our toaster - Sir likes his browned evenly.

I'm glad we've managed to avoid the thunder storms today.
