Good morning All.
Qwerty, what a pity to miss your outing with your friends, you must feel rough Don't stop 'moaning' though - we all need a moan sometimes! Feel better soon.
I hope the fruit cakes tun out well Nan2.
Well done Eva
Today we are off to the seaside! OH, me and our friends C and P, to blow away the cobwebs and have some fish and chips,
I will ice the Christmas cake when we get back.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Nanto - I love fruit cake! Can I pop round? It's quite nece here at the moment - sunny and not cold, but everywhere is soaking wet after yesterday's downpour.
Gem - what a lovely thing to do at this time of the year. Just what you need after being so busy. Fish and chips in the fresh air - mmmmmmmmmm!!!!
I'm spending the day in the kitchen making casseroles for our Sunday visitors. I've decided that's easier than trying to do a roast for 9 two days before Christmas, so I'm doing a large vat of chilli and another of chicken with winter vegetables. Then I can serve them with a choice of new potatoes, rice or pasta. I've made pastry ready for mince pies so hope to get those made today as well. OH is going to put the Christmas tree up - he was going to do it yesterday but didn't feel like it, so I'll be cracking the whip today (only joking!)
Qwerty - I agree with Gem. We need our moans - who else will listen to us and sympathise. xx Try and get as much rest as you can - not easy at this time of the year, I know.

Wee Granny - I love your Highland Cow - she looks a real character, and I'm sure all your friends and family will enjoy her this Christmas. You're a very talented artist to keep creating these wonderful pictures.
We have Highland cattle running on the Forest and they're such beautiful, gentle creatures, but they certainly know how to slow the traffic down when they walk along the middle of the road swinging their fearsome looking horns slightly from side to side.
All this talk of fruit cakes and afternoon teas, to say nothing offish and chips, is making me hungry.
Gem - I hope you rmum is ok, and it's nothing serious."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Early start in the morning...fasting blood test. Diabetes check. Went to GS2s Christmas Church service & he was a shepherd in his class Nativity. The boy next to him passed the time away using his upturned crook (sp?) as a golf club. Felt teary but proud.💕"Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

Good morning, dull here again.
Had a real mixed day yesterday. A lovely morning with our DILs parents catching up on all, their news. Then after lunch other friends popped round and she bought us a little parcel with home made mince pies and carrot cake, lovely. Then sadly things took a different turn. Our neighbours daughter came round to tell us that her Mum had passed away at the end of last week. So very very sad, we had got to know her quite well over the last year as she was diagnosed with cancer just before OH and we used to chat and keep up with how each of them were getting on. I only spoke to her a little while ago and all was going well, so this was a huge shock. Can’t quite believe it, it hit P really hard, brought it all to a head about how things can change. A very subdued morning here and we are seeing the oncologist this morning.
Otherwise, we are counting the days until we see DGD again, it is keeping us going at the moment.....something positive to look forward to."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss
