We will be looking at holidays this afternoon when we come back from lunch. British Airways now fly from Heathrow to Tenerife so that will be very handy, on the bus to Terminal 5, no car parking fees, hopefully not getting up too early. Might put a bottle of fizz in the fridge to celebrate..........

I am trying to find a villa for us and DD2, SIL, GD and baby in the summer. I am appalled by how much the prices are bumped up for the school holidays, it's disgraceful really.,I know we had to pay these prices when the children were younger, but I haven't had to stick to school holdays for a long time.
I resent having to pay all the extra, but if we want to go with GD we will have to.

I know, Gemini, its frustrating isn't it. We have May and October half-terms free in our Apartment and when we advertised it (at our normal rate) one lady wanted to go but when she went on Ryanair for flights they wanted £2000 for her family!!!!! So I expect they will remain unbooked, sadly.

Not very likely if you saw what I am sitting next to - a snoring husband.....................................

So the grand plan is unravelling. The flights out of Heathrow only serve the North island and the transfer fees are an eye watering £85 each way. The flight times are not great, getting in to Tenerife at 9pm and leaving at 9,55am. I would rather spend the £160 on an overnight with parking at Gatwick and have a choice of flight times. Watch this space as husband is making annoyed noises with the computer.........

So finally we are booked. Always looking for a cheap deal the husband has once again discovered that waiting until the last minute does not work these days. We are going to Tenerife South Island. All inclusive (which I hate) but in an apartment so we can choose if we want to eat independently. Way more expensive than if we had booked last week.
I am looking forward to it. Got to book an airport hotel at Gatwick with parking now but will do that tomorrow. I know I am lucky to be able to have these holidays as I couldn't for many years but why doesn't he flipping listen to me??? Grumpy Zizi........

I have booked the Sofitel right on the airport. Husband said no it is too expensive, I said yes because it has meet and greet parking in both directions, we can get up and walk over the bridge to the airport in the morning, have dinner in the evening (two courses for £18 each), no stress what so ever. Yes more expensive than some of the airport hotels with parking however I think it is worth it. Done and paid for......... Oh and also because it is so close to the airport we do not need to book the lounge we usually book. Now I want to go on holiday. Mmmmm is there anything I need to buy??? I am sure I will think of something

Going to hotel Saturday 5th March, flying 6th. Haven't booked house sitter yet but I know that it won't be a problem. I really wish it could be from Heathrow but those flights only go to North Island and the transfer fees to the hotels are as much as the flights, plus it isn't as warm in the north apparently! I am really looking forward to the holiday now especially as my job is very busy at the moment. I know I moaned about the secondment being slow and I am glad that I have such a lot going on at the moment, it just doesn't feel very joined up if you know what I mean. It is early days of course. Eighteen months is a long time to be out of the loop. I really have an urge to buy clothes for my holiday but ssshhhh, do not tell anyone else (especially the husband), I really do not need anything not even a handbag ....... Oh my goodness where is the psychiatrist (wrongly spelt I think) when you need him/her?

LOL, Zizi, I'm sure you can manage to slip something new into your suitcase
As you say, it's annoying that you ccan't fly from Heathrow, but it's just not practical in this case.
