I'd just arrived back from Australia to sort out the house , which we'd bought before we went, so that we could let it out. I spent the night in a hotel in Dedham watching dustbins etc being blown down the road. In the morning we couldn't phone out, but OH managed to get thorough from OZ! No mobiles in those days! The forests in the Aldeburgh area were devastated, but it was good to see how quickly they've re-established themselves.
Our old house, a wooden framed farmhouse, had a beautiful walnut tree growing at the side. It was thought that the roots were helping to support that side of the house. The tree came down sadly. I often wondered what effect it had on the house.Last edited by WeeGranny; 17-10-2020, 09:37 AM.Believe you can and you're halfway there.

A flock of sheep was left feeling rather woolly-headed after accidentally munching on £4,000 worth of cannabis plants that had been dumped in their field, at the edge of Fanny’s Farm in Merstham, Surrey. By the time that the police arrived, much of the evidence had been eaten.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

The first episode ('Everything Changes') of the cult British science fiction television programme Torchwood, a spin-off of Doctor Who. Alien hunter Ianto Jones was played by Welsh actor Gareth David-Lloyd. Remarkably, there is a shrine at Cardiff Bay in honour of Torchwood's fictional Ianto Jones who 'gave his life in defence of the children of this planet' in 2009.
I loved Torchwood!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

The London Ambulance Service was thrown into chaos after the failure of a new Computer Aided Dispatch system. Its poor design and implementation led to significant delays in the assigning of ambulances, with reports of 11 hour waits. Media reports at the time claimed that up to 30 people may have died as a result of the chaos. The then-chief executive, John Wilby, resigned shortly afterwards.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
