Gem - I think it's something everyone will always remember. The sheer horror of watching it happening like an apocalyptic movie will never leave us, I'm sure.

When it stopped flying we missed hearing its occasional flights out of Bournemouth airport!

It's surprising the meter would go into 5 figures!

I remember this so well. They literally fled the country with nothing but what they were wearing.

Yes, I think it was, WeeGranny. He was in power for about 8 years I think and presided over one of the cruellest regimes ever.

I drive through Fulford twice a week for the school runs, and a friend lives there. I have no idea where the battle took place however!

Gem - have you ever been there?

We went a couple of times when we lived in Worthing, and also to the relatively 'new' 1930s cinema in Worthing itself. I'm not sure if either of them are still operating - there was a programme about the Worthing cinema a couple of years ago, but I didn't see it.

Gem - you'd love it, I'm sure. It really is unlike anywhere else. We were lucky to live so close for a couple of years.
