    1943

William Morris (Lord Nuffield), the founder of Morris Motors, created the Nuffield Foundation, Britain's biggest charitable trust, with a gift of £10 million.
The Nuffield Foundation's income comes from the interest on its investments. It does not fund raise or receive funding from the Government. It is financially and politically independent.

It's hard to imagine just how much £10 million was worth in the 1940s.

Some people make a tidy bit of income from renting out their front drives or garages on a daily basis, to people who are desperate to drive into the city. My DIL1 used them several times when she had to take DS1 into London for treatment.

Gem, my OH is very interested in all things ancient Egypt, and we've been to the Cairo museum and seen the golden mask. I thought I'd be bored silly, but this was mesmerising.

I turned the TV over just at the end of last night's episode where the Queen Vic exploded ,
It's like Coronation street how many explosions can they have, I'm surprised anything is standing 🤣🤣

I didn't see it, Oma, but there's sure to be even more horrific drama than usual this week.
