Hallo everyone, the lift saga continues!!!!! My next door neighbour came home last night and the mechanic was busy, yet again. He said the problem is in the housing!!!! I could have told them that. it will be the same story again this evening so no one is allowed to need ambulance care!!!!

I was going to a meeting but I have cancelled it, I have just received a mail and he said a lot have cancelled because of the heat. Feels like 40 degrees.

Friday is going to be even worse.

Daisy, I don't pack the hydrangeas in, they seem to be strong, DIL has a lovely show on their front, just leaves them each year and they come out full of flowers!!!!

I got a mackerel at the Lidl so will have a chicory salad with mackerel , tasty!

Oh Lizzie, your lift saga goes from bad to worse. Imagine climbing all those stairs in that heat. I think hydrangeas are hardy as well. Was it fresh Mackrell? I love it and last night we had smoked Mackrell with salad with crispy cos lettuce, peppers, beetroot, spring onions and other bits and pieces.

        Thanks for that info Daisy,
I have never had hydrangea before,
The pot it's in is on legs so good drainage,
I read you shouldn't water them too much so I have been waiting till they look a bit droopy then watering them and they spring back to life ,
I hope I am doing it right as it's a beautiful plant.
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Lizzie, those are beautiful despite the drowning!!

Plant and Nan2, I have heard of schools closing due to the heatwave too. We had an email from little E's nursery outlining everything they are doing to keep the children safe and cool, but also warning of the possibility of closure or early finish times. So far they havent had to.

It's a shame to miss the talk Daisy, but you know how you feel . This heat is draining for everyone. Our poor pets included.

This morning I was at my aqua class, but no coffee as none of my friends were there. I popped into M and S for couple of things then home. I was reluctant to leave the lovely cool water at the end of our class!
OH was at the hospital this morning for her monthly treatment.
This afternoon we have spent in the living room , curtains drawn, fan on full with a bowl of iced water in front of it.

Oma, it's ok to water your hydrangea before it droops. I just check the leaves. Most varieties have slightly leathery leaves, so if they feel too soft I water. You can be generous with the water, Lizzie's was exceptionally wet and in standing water. As long as it drains it will be fine.

Lizzie, lovely, fresh mackerel. OH used to fish for them when we kept a little rowing boat at Shoreham.

The friend I was going to go to the talk with decided it was too hot as well. I hope they decide to hold it again sometime.

Good morning. Another hot day on the cards.

We have got a hydrangea, but it's planted in the ground. It's been in donkeys years and flowers every year.

Lizzie, the lift saga goes on.

                  Morning Nanto, Ladies.

                  Nanto
A very summery graphic this morning 😁
It is hot isn't it already.

                  Lizzie
That lift is a ongoing nightmare,
I hope no one did need ambulance care 😱

                  Daisy
                  I didn't know about the leaves ,
I have just been out and yes they do sort of feel leathery ,
Pity you missed the lecture but you know your own body and if you were very tired you wouldn't concentrate on what was said .
I am surprised considering the heat they didn't cancel it.

                  Gem
How are you and S this morning?
I hope S has recovered from golfing , 18 holes is a long way in this heat ,
How are the kitties ? I bet they are only coming out at night.

                  Plant
How are you today is there less pain when you walk now?

I put some washing on then had a shower,
Just been out to spray some weed killer on the path across the road from the drive ,
I always keep on top of them.
The council will come out maybe once or twice a year on one of those ride on things and they miss half of them,
So I do it myself .

B got a tip run at 9.30 get rid of the last bits of surplus astro turf then he wants to paint the meter box's outside ,
They should dry in no time in this heat .

I need at some point to go to Aldi but that could even wait till tomorrow.

                    Good morning everyone.

I am in the garden with my morning cuppa. Under the shade of the parasol before the heat builds up.
We were out here last night and there was a welcome slight breeze so it felt a bit cooler.

Oma the cats seemed a bit livlier yesterday . I think their body clocks took a couple of days to adjust to the heat. They are still inside for the hotter bits of the day though.

Little E from nursery today. Then I will be keeping him as cool as I can. We have a fan I will put in his bedroom.

                      Good Thursday morning, everyone.

Nanto, summer certainly is upon us! It's 27C already here. We've got one hydrangea in the ground. It was a cutting off one of the others and is very easy to grow.

Oma, leathery leaves are good leaves! They may have cancelled the talk last night, but we didn't see anything on social media. The Council cut our grass verge two days ago and most of the cut grass ended up spread across the pavement in front of our drive. Sometimes the road sweeper comes round so I've left it for a day or two, but we'll have to sweep it up soon. Hopefully it's not quite as hot for you as it is here. You would struggle to paint anything in this heat.

Gem, how lovely enjoying your morning coffee in the shade. Have a lovely time with Little E. I'm sure he will like having his very own fan in his room.

I got up early this morning and took Eva for a walk about 6 am. It was warm, but we were able to keep mostly in the shade on a mud path. She enjoyed it after a couple of days of very little exercise, and enjoyed socialising with just about every other dog in the neighbourhood whose owners had also gone out early. She's had breakfast, and is now snoozing in her cool coat. OH is at the dentists and then later he and our neighbour are getting everything ready for their trip to the car meet up on Friday.

Take care in the heat everyone. xx

                        Eva sounds very sociable Daisy

Our cats and Sooty-next-door were all in our garden yesterday evening.
Not interacting, but aware of each others presence and fine with it. I see M coming back from their garden quite often.

We went to KFC for something to eat today.
On our way home,we called into Farmfoods.
It was lovely and cool. When you came out,the heat it you.

Another boiling day here. Can’t wait for it to change, I really prefer Autumn and winter, you just can’t do nothing when it’s like this, soul destroying.

Plant, I’ve missed whatever has happened for you but hope you are ok and well now.

I have quite a few hydrangeas and they are very hardy, some in pots and others on the ground. I water profusely and they droop quickly in this weather. The name hydra…..tells you they like water and my Gardner recommend a good watering every day. They are easy to take cuttings from and that’s what I’ve done, must do some more this year as DD likes them.

went into the garden early this morning but could not stay there long, and it’s now 34 deg again. Thunderstorms forecast later, hope they’re not like the last one.
