I'm a bit late to Chat today. It seems to have been a busy day, but I did have a lazy morning. I did a bit more sorting out in the kitchen, but nowhere near finished, portioned up dog food, made bread and a few other odd jobs. I sat and relaxed after lunch as well. We've had no rain today, and it has been milder. I took Eva out about quarter to 4 and got back about 5 o'clock. I saw our next door neighbour out with her and her DD's dog, so we stopped for a chat, and another lady who has a reactive dog, but we can stand at a safe distance and talk, and her dog settles down quietly.

Nanto, I hope everyone enjoyed your roast beef dinner. How was the cheesecake?

Gem, I'm sure I can smell your Christmas cake from here. OH has suggested we buy one this year, but I'm not so sure. It's not the same. How was the deep water aqua class? I hope the buoyancy aid worked properly. Was S disappointed there was no golf?

Lizzie, that orchid is magnificent, so hopefully it isn't the cause of your present allergy. Were you tired after your walk into the village yesterday?

Oma, I'm so sorry to hear your MIL has had to go back to hospital. Without having cameras in her house you can't really keep a check on how (or if) she's using her oxygen. Does she check her blood oxygen levels at all? I hope she didn't have to wait too long to get a bed. Have you heard how she is now?

Plant, I've been wondering how baby is, and hope his chest infection is clearing up. Was little H ok at school on Friday?

      Lizzie, what an amazing Orchid.

Gemini, my OH used to make our Christmas cake, he didn’t do much of the cooking but he liked doing certain things, he also made the marmalade. Pleased to hear Sue is okay.

Daisy, H went to school the next day, not sure I would have sent her, when they are low they pick up other illnesses, she seems alright today. Haven’t seen any of the other GC. And the baby. DD passed some pics she had managed to get of my GS at the Indian wedding he attended, he really enjoyed himself, the family made him very welcome.

Oma, It does sound as if your Mil isn’t able to take charge of using her oxygen properly.

I had a really bad dreamy sleep the night before last, made up for it last night. Tried not to pop off today. Lunch in Village Hall tomorrow.

Plant, I'm pleased to hear H is ok. As you say, they can easily pick up one thing after another once they are feeling a bit under the weather. Indian weddings are amazing. I've seen incredible photos of all the celebrations.

I wonder what caused the bad dream sleep the night before last.

I bet y our OH's Christmas cakes were delicious. Did he decorate them as well?

              Good morning everyone.

              Very wet night here too.

Oma, I think your MIL ends up back in hospital partly because she gets up and out too fast. A hospital stay for anyone takes it out of you. That she insists on been taken shopping the next day is ridiculous really at her age. I wonder if she will ever accept she shouldn't be living alone now?!

Plant , little ones do catch lot but do tend to bounce back quickly too don't they?

Daisy, I do like to make (and eat!) Christmas cake. Its the one thing I make every year. We always buy a Christmas pudding, and some years mince pies, but I always make the cake.
The house did indeed smell lovely yesterday

We did Circuits at deep water aqua last night. Very hard work , and funny. I did better at staying in position this time. My float did stay in place better than the pool ones, but not enough.
I was nicely exhausted when I got home! We had leftovers from the Saturday roast, so it was just some baby potatoes roasted in the air fryer and Yorkshire puds and peas to add.

Back to the pool this morning for aqua. My monthly sports massage this afternoon. I need to pick up my prescription, and an Evri parcel while I am out and about.
No sign of Open Reach or Sky over the weekend, Maybe they will come today

She's so stubborn, we really didn't want her to go out but if she says she is going she is going no matter what argument we make.

I doubt unless the hospital say she can't go back home she will not accept a home or sheltered accommodation.

Sound like you had a good work out and a few laughs also😁
                Enjoy your massage this afternoon.
                Is S still feeling ok?

Gemini, sounds like you are in the water more than being out. You have to work hard to stay in one place when you are in the deep end with a flotation belt, really works the tummy muscles. I don’t know if we will have a Christmas cake this year, GD’s OH made it last year.

I don’t know if I am up to providing Blinis, Trifle and Overnight salad this year. I could make the Blinis now and freeze them until Christmas morning when the soured cream and smoked salmon go on. I am not sure yet how many we will be, seems to be a bit of uncertaintcy as to who will be here. My OH used to make gorgeous fruit cakes but would only put marzipan on top. His Easter cake was amazing.

Oma, I hope your Mil behaves herself so she doesn’t land back in hospital. Does she get confused as to what she should be taking and doing?

She does but her tablets are all in pods from the pharmacy with time and day on so no excuse really.

Another late Chat post from me!

Oma, we had a lot of rain last night, judging by the state of the garden this morning. It must be frustrating when MIL is being so stubborn and you know it's not in her best interests. I think Gem's right, she doesn't give herself chance to recover from being in hospital. Bring back convalescent homes - they were such a good half-way stage when patients were discharged from hospital.

Nanto, your post office opens nice and early. Ours is just a counter in a small supermarket and is closed when the member of staff responsible isn't there.

Gem, you're becoming a water baby! I'm sure it's very good for you physically and mentally. There's something very therapeutic about being in the water. How was your massage? I hope you've got a nice relaxing evening to round off your day.

Plant, you've got a large family, so it's not surprising Christmas arrangements are not settled easily. If you feel up to making your famous Blinis, doing them now and freezing them seems the best option, but don't overdo things. See how you feel. I quite enjoy making a trifle, but don't like to eat it! I think icing is the least enjoyable part of a Christmas cake, but I love the marzipan. I used to make my own, but have got lazy and now buy it ready to roll out. Have you still got J's fruit cake recipes?

I made an effort to get an early start this morning. I tend to just potter round and it's often 10 or 11 am before I get a shower and get dressed. But I wanted to go shopping today, so I was up and ready to go out by half past nine. Eva wasn't at all keen to "go" in the soggy wet garden this morning, so I took her for a walk first. Then we went to the vets to collect some meds for her. She's getting slightly stiff on her back legs after a lot of exercise and the medicine is just an anti-inflammatory and painkiller to take when needed. The receptionist at the vets is a friend, so we had a quick chat, and then went on to the next town to do some shopping.

We called in to see DIL2 in their shop, just as GD1 was texting her to say school was closed for the rest of the day as they had a power cut! We offered to go and get her and her friend, but they had decided to go to a third friend's house who lives near the school. The friend's mum would get them back to school to catch the bus home. GD1 had mixed feelings. They're in the middle of GCSE mocks and it was Chemistry this afternoon. It's not her favourite subject, but at least it would have been over and done with. I'm sure they had a much more enjoyable afternoon though!

We did some shopping and OH spotted a handbag in one of the charity shops. Unlike Oma, and some other Grans, I'm not interested in handbags, but do need to have a couple. Both of mine have worn out, but I haven't seen any of the type I use with a price tag of under 3 figures. We came out of the charity shop with two handbags - one navy blue and one bright red - for £26.50. When we got home I found they were both leather, and looked unused. I don't think I've ever been so pleased with handbags before!

By then it was lunch-time, so we went to a local cafe who had delicious lamb shanks on the specials menu. No cooking for us tonight! We called in to see DS2 on the way home, so quite a busy but enjoyable day out.

Daisy, that was a good bargain with the handbags.
Our post office opens at 7.30, when one particular girl opens the shop.
Officially it should be 8 am.
Our post office is also in a convenience store, but it is so handy.

                            Good morning ladies.

Going into town with hubby this morning. He'll meet his pal.

I want to go in Iceland for a few bits.

The slow cooker is full of chicken stew,so that will be done when we get home. It will be portioned up for the freezer.

Sorry I haven't anything more interesting to say.

Good morning, at last I am feeling much better. I went to get the cyst drained yesterday, the young doctor that did it told me that there are so many people ill with the same symptoms. On the way home I went to the local chemist and asked for the best cough medicine! It happened to be their own brand and it works wonders! The doctor drained 9ml out of the cyst, last time it was 15ml, my physio told me they see that often and it is a good sign. I hope he is right, we have another planned for in 3 months time so I will see how it goes. M came for coffee when I got home so I had a busy afternoon.

Nanto, you are lucky with a post office close by, when I was in the UK, the village where DB2 lives have the same set up, in the convenience store. Ours is in a book shop in the village.

I hope to go on the bike to the hospital, I have been looking at the bus, handy really, it goes 6 times in the hour.

Daisy, you did have a busy day, I hope that it hasn't tired you too much. You did get a good bargain with the handbags, I have enough bags, in fact no handbags, always shoulder bags, but, if I happen to take anything to the charity shops I always have a look at the bags!

                                Morning ladies
                                Dull and wet again.
I have another Barra brith in the oven, I promised to do my hairdresser one so I soaked the fruit with tea and brandy last night.
                                The house smells lovely.

Nightmare getting to the hospital yesterday just after the turn off from the roundabout we should come off there was a big smash ,
Traffic was jammed up for miles in all directions,
Fire crews, ambulances and police had all the A1 blocked off it took us a hour to travel 1 mile ,
We finally could get off and divert to go the long way around the outskirts of the town but everyone had the same idea,

Once we got to the hospital there was of course no parking spots , round and round for 3/4 of a hour ,
We eventually got parked in a side road off the hospital and had to walk in the rain to get there.
B said if we don't get parked we will go home and come back tonight.

MIL has a temperature they think she has a infection, but she was chatty enough,
She was a bit confused talked about the gardener killing off the weeds ,
First she said he had put food poisoning down then he came back a second time and put pain killers down ,
Obviously meaning weed killer, we were in fits 🤣

Just read the accident was between a articulated lorry and a car ,
The driver of the car had to be cut out but he is stable in hospital.
