Lizzie, I think it's always a big decision to have something like a knee replacement, but if it relieves you of pain in the longer term, it is probably worth the short term pain. But that doesn't make it much easier while you're going through the operation and recovery pain, I'm sure. It will be good to have your exercise bike up and ready to use.

Plant, our weather was quite good until about 3 o'clock. Since then we've had more rain, quite heavy at times. This morning the floods were deeper in places than the previous 'high' in 2013. We had to go a very roundabout way to collect OH's car to avoid the deepest water. It had dropped quite a bit this afternoon, but with the heavy rain again now plus high tide it could be bad again tomorrow. We live on the very edge of the village and the ground is slightly higher so our road (and houses) are safe.

Gem, little E will feel so grown up with his new bed. Is he going to carry on sleeping in his dinosaur sleeping bag or will he have a duvet? Was the library quiet with the bed weather?

Oma, I hope GS's journey back to Uni was ok and he arrived safely. I agree, it's always a worry.

We had nothing planned for today except a phone call from the consultant about 3 pm, and OH's car being mended. We were rudely woken up well before 8 o'clock by the phone. By the time I'd picked it up and put the light on because I couldn't see where the "answer" button was the caller had rung off. But I got up anyway. I'd just poured two cups of tea out about 8.15 when the phone rang again. This time it was the consultant. Was it ok to talk because she'd got a few quiet minutes and so often calls get later and later? Anyway, by then I was properly awake, so it was ok. My blood tests results were very good, she checked what I needed on prescription and so all clear for treatment as usual on Friday. She kindly read out all the blood results for me, because it can take the hospital up to two weeks to load them online. I thought I'd have breakfast then phone DS2, as he always likes to know test results etc, but the phone rang again. It was the vet we've chosen to treat Eva's bad knee. She sounded lovely, and said she'd like to see Eva to see if there was a way of avoiding surgery, so we're taking her there tomorrow. By the time I'd had a now cold cup of tea, a shower and breakfast it felt like mid-afternoon! I managed a quick call to GS2 who was waiting to hear that GD1 had got to school ok, as their bus didn't turn up this morning. Luckily one of the mums has a huge SUV and took 5 of them to school. I'd just got back from walking Eva after lunch and the garage phoned to say the car was ready. Our online community groups are very helpful, and I got three different suggestions for avoiding the worst of the floods. It still took quite a while to get there and back, and both cars have well-washed wheels!

By the time I'd prepared some bland food for Eva and made the curry I'd promised OH I was ready to sit down! I think I need an early night tonight.

Good morning Nan2 and everyone else.

Daisy, I'm very pleased about the good results from your consultant. A surprise to be phoned at that time though, when you were expecting it at 3, or any time later! I'm not surprised you were ready for an early night.
Little E can use either the dinosaur sleeping bag, or his teddy bear cot duvet, to answer your question! I think I inadvertently bought a cot-bed size when I bought it years ago.

Plant I think you're either a jigsaw person or you're not. They do nothing for me!

Lizzie, I know quite a bit about knee replacement recovery, but little about lipoedema so I don't know how or if that would affect it.

The library was quiet yesterday. It had been busy on Monday, people getting to the library and post office before yesterday's storm (which wasn't that bad here to be honest)
Aqua this morning. We are going to see my auntie this afternoon. I will pop into M&S to get her some flowers on my way home. I shan't be telling her anything about the DD3 situation, so we will be able to have nice afternoon of chat. I wouldn't want her to know such sad news at her age when there is no need.

I hope everyone is well today .

Good morning, a thick fog this morning. Gem, you will know a bit about the replacement, I will be asking a few questions, it is the recovery with the lipoedema that has held me back all these years! I will have to wait and see what the specialist has to say.

Daisy, you live in such a beautiful area, then get all the floods!

Your consultant much have thought you were and early riser! Good to see that all is going well with the treatment.

            Morning ladies
            Gem
I think your wise not to say anything to aunty G , no need for her to know at her age plus it means you can have a break from going over it and have a normal chat,
I know it seems to consume your thoughts , it's the last thing you think about at night and the first thing that comes to mind on a morning.
            Enjoy your Aquaxx

            Daisy
Great news about your bloods , long may it last that way,
Even though you were woken at that hour to chat😁
Fingers crossed the vet can treat Eva without operating, it would be much better all round wouldn't it.

Josh got back ok , he will be back on Friday for the weekend 🙄

I hope the roads are not flooded on Friday or you will have to set out very early to get to appointment.

            Lizzie
Always best to take specialist advice,
I'm sure they have dealt with this before.

It's like pea soup here the fog is thick and low,

I have to go to MILs after lunch , the frailty nurse is coming back ,
I need to go to pets at home first to pick dog food up for SIL2 her son usually gets it but he has been in a bump and the car is in the garage,
It's only across the road so no bother and I will leave it at MILs

We are slowly getting sorted in the kitchen / dining room,
All the old flooring up right through, B started emulsioning the walls yesterday , just one wall at a time as we move things around,
We have to take the big mirror off the wall today before he can carry on and it's very heavy,

I have a love hate relationship with it ,
I love the style but I hate cleaning it
            I keep. Saying I'm getting rid of it but I won't 😁

There is no rush to get sorted it's going to be march before SIL can fit us in as it's a big job but I want to get as much done as I can now .

              Good Wednesday morning, everyone.

Gem, Little E will love his new grown up bed and he'll also like being able to choose "camping" mode (sleeping bag) or "home from home" mode with the duvet. I loved it when our GC were that age and seeing their enjoyment at making little decisions for themselves. I imagine you were quite happy for the Library to be a bit quieter yesterday, you must be exhausted. xx

Hopefully you will have a good day today, with Aqua and a visit to your Auntie. I agree, an afternoon talking about normal things will do you good, and your aunt doesn't need the worry you are all having.

Lizzie, it will be very useful having Gem's knee replacement experience to draw on, and hopefully there are steps the doctors can to take to keep you safe with the lipoedema. I know you've been thinking about this for a long time, but it's quite likely that the operation and after care is now much safer for you than it might have been years ago. Is GD1 better now?

Oma, glad GS got back ok. You can't help worrying though, can you. We should be ok for Friday morning. The rain yesterday was quite exceptional, thank goodness. I hope your MIL is ok and the frailty nurse is happy she's doing everything she should. I can understand the problem with the big mirror. It looks fabulous, until you have to clean or move it. At least you can take your time with all the decorating etc. Don't do too much at once, either of you. xx

My cleaner has been in touch, she is coming tomorrow. I shall see how things go.

Gemini, I am sure your Auntie was very pleased to have your company and it took your mind off for a short time about DD. Would love to be a fly on the wall when your GS uses his new bed and chooses his preferred cover.

Daisy, there has been some publicity about vets charges.

Oma, things seem to have gone quiet with Mil, is she having more back-up care to keep her out of hospital? Oh just re-read your post.

Well we are just back from MILs ,
When I got there the place was a tip,
                  Stuff laying on every surface,
First I had to do her dishes from this morning and lunch time , then I set to moving stuff and putting it away,
                  She had done nothing ,
I didn't want the nurse coming in thinking no one had helped her,

I was washing up and she shouted , where's my coffee, I said I didn't know you wanted one ,
Well I'm dry I need one,
I'm not a mind reader , I will make one now,
B took it into her and she complained I hadn't put any biscuits or cakes out on the tray with it 🙄

Nurse was as usual very patient and kind ,
We got a action plan in place for trying to treat her at home if she gets an infection rather than hospital , unless of course they think she has fluid on her lungs or her heart is acting up.

She is coming back on the 11th with a print out of it.

I'm going to have something to eat then put my feet up and do nothing this evening .

Plant, fingers crossed your cleaner is now going to be reliable. We saw the publicity on the news tonight about vets' charges. They've gone through the roof, driven I imagine by the big corporate owners with shareholders to keep happy. The vet we saw today is independent.

Oma, MIL is the gift that keeps on giving! You and B are very good to her, and doing her housework and making meals for her is no easy job. I had to laugh when she complained about the lack of biscuits or cake. I'm sure you and B didn't think it was funny though. I hope you have relaxed this evening.

It's been another busy day for us. OH went down to our usual vets to get some pain killers they had prescribed. I wasn't happy about them though. They just didn't sound right.

We got to the orthopaedic vet just in time and thankfully most of the flooding had gone. She was lovely, and spent quite a while letting Eva sniff round the field and her office, but she was watching her very carefully. Eva was quite happy, lots of attention and treats - what's not to like. Then the vet examined her, all over, not just her leg. The good news was, she doesn't need surgery. It's already recovering and Eva's using muscles to do the job of the ligament. So she's given us lots of physio exercises, and suggested some hydrotherapy, and even paddling in the river. Some of the exercises are very similar to ones we do in training class, and Eva seemed very comfortable with them. We see her again in a month.

We came home, had lunch and then I rang DS2 to arrange for us having Cooper overnight and tomorrow. They had got all sorts of problems with timing as both the girls were busy tonight, so I went over and collected Cooper myself. OH was feeling very tired and he really needed a rest. Cooper was very excited, but was a good boy in the car. He's worn himself out now and is asleep at my feet! We'll take them both back to DS2 tomorrow afternoon, ready for my hospital appointment on Friday. I think we need a week off next week.

I have meant to come here all evening but didn't get round to it!
I will catch up in the morning.

                        Good morning ladies.

Oma, MIL really isn't able to look after herself any more and so much falls to you and B. Take care.

Good to know Eva won't need surgery Daisy. I agree you need a week off now!

I hope it works out with the cleaner Plant.

We had a very nice afternoon with my auntie. We took scented stocks and they made the room smell wonderful. We had tea and cake and a nice chat. As OH said on the drive home, you would think she was in her 80s, never 97!
Little E from nursery today, and he is staying the night. I can't wait to see his face when we show him his new bed

                          Good news for Eva ,
Vet prices are a laugh but we need the vets to keep them healthy,
I watched one vet saying last night that because it's so expensive people are holding back taking their pets till it's really necessary,
                          Sad isn't it.

                          Gem

Good morning, we have had snow!

Daisy, good news about Eva, it will save a lot of worry (and money)!

Gem, you would enjoy visiting your auntie, a very good age, my friend in the UK, her mother is 95, still lives on her own, she does have help now though. My friend will be 77 years old this year, it seems strange to still have a mother!!

Oma, I still don't know how you cope with it all!!

I had a busy day yesterday, DS1 phoned and said GD2 had the bug now but had to go to school, something to do with her exams, only for 30 minutes, she didn't want to go on her bike so he asked if I would go and take her, which I did. How she coped I do not know but she did, she said most of her class have the same flu. GD2 is better now and went to college yesterday, I came home, GD2 phoned telling me she felt worse, I asked her if I had to go , no, she would go to bed and see if that helped, her period started at the same time so she said "everything hurts"! Later she phoned her mum, her mum phoned me from Liverpool asking if I would go and see how she was as GD1 wasn't home at the time.

Off I went again, calling at the chemists on the way, she was so pleased that I went, I had even packed my overnight bag!!! I sat with her until GD1 arrived home, stayed a while and she managed to eat something before going to bed, she said there was no need for me to stay so I came home. She has just been in touch and is feeling much better now so hopefully it stays that way.

DS1 phoned later, he has been in touch with GD2, she said she was pleased that I went back, she daren't ask as she thought it was too much for me!! I will survive! He thanked me for keeping an eye on them.

Now I am waiting for the man to come and do the exercise bike. I will need it as well if I get my knee replaced! I asked the young physio the other day how it works after the operation, the physio comes twice a week for 6 weeks to help with the exercise etc, I thought they did that as I often see the walking with patients in the area. After 6 weeks, if all goes well, I should be able to drive again and get to the practice.

Plant, I hope that your cleaner has turned up today.
