I'm sorry I haven't called in earlier. It's been a difficult day. We are both still feeling very weak, tired and coughing. After long chats with DS2 and DIL1 we've decided to postpone Christmas. I'm heartbroken in one sense, but rather relieved in another. We don't want to pass on our bugs to the rest of the family and they don't want us to wear ourselves out trying to "do" Christmas.

Our tree and decs are still in the loft, and I feel upset about that. The house just doesn't look homely or Christmassy. I made 2 doz mince pies and a sponge cake today, and that was hard work.

So it looks as though this year will be another one to add to the "different Christmas" thread!

I'm upset the GCs won't get their presents on Christmas day, or at the family day we had planned for the 28th. We'll also miss GD2's 12th birthday.

As if that wasn't enough, poor DIL1 has an infected wisdom tooth. Her dentist has given her antibiotics to get her through Christmas, and then she will probably have to have it out.

Oh Daisy, i understand why you have cancelled Christmas.
Hope you both feel better soon.

Hubby meeting his pal later, so I'm going into town. We'll meet up for coffee before we come home.

I don't need much in town, need to get some braising steak, we've eaten what i bought last week.

Good morning Lizzie, Nan2 and everyone else.

Daisy, I agree that was the right decision about Christmas. You know, now the 'pressure' of feeling up to doing Christmas is gone, you may start to feel a lot better anyway?I just wish we were all close enough that we could come round and make the house more Christmassy for you xxx

We had a nice evening at our friends house. My sore throat is still here, intermittently but not as bad. Another of the viruses which are circulating I suppose and compared to some nothing to complain about I know.
Library this morning. I expect it to be very quiet, so I may not stay all morning. Our hairdresser is coming at 12.30, and we are going to DD2's at 3pm. She is hosting an extended family mulled wine and nibbles afternoon. We will take the presents for everyone too, so mustn't forget to put them in the car!

            Feel better soon poorly ones

              Morning ladies

              Daisy
A very sensible decision, you and J are just not up to all that,
Plus DIL in pain with her tooth would probably make for a very subdued Christmas,
Wait till everyone is feeling better and have a dinner then,

I'm sure there are lots of people who are under the weather doing the same thing,
Have a restful day put some Christmas music on or a good Christmas movie and cuddle up with Eva ,
I'm sure she will make you feel better.♥️♥️♥️

              Gem
So pleased the car passed , no money to pull out so close to Christmas,
Enjoy your mulled wine this afternoon,
These germs are hitting everyone aren't they,
Hopefully your throat isn't too bad .

We are popping to Lidl for fresh buns but apart from that a quiet day
I might sort out the boxes in the spare room ,
See what Christmas ornaments I'm giving to DD and what can go out ready for buying the wardrobe.

There again I might just sit and read my book, it's set in the second world war, not my usual type but it's the kind that you want to read the next chapter to see what's happening 😁

                Good Tuesday morning everyone.

I know you're all right, saying we can do Christmas later, but I'm still upset about it. Hey ho, there are worse losses at sea, my mother always used to say. I'm very tired today and don't feel like doing much. I was able to take a lot of items off my Sainsburys order last night, and we decided to get steak for Christmas Day. It's OH's favourite and I'm hoping he's going to cook it!

Gem, I do hope your sore throat doesn't develop into anything worse. You must have been pleased your car passed. It's the wrong time of year for extra expense. For some reason both our cars and our house insurance are renewed in December and January but we put aside money each month into a separate account for renewals. Otherwise it would be a very expensive time! I hope you have a lovely time at DD3's this afternoon. I bet the children are getting very excited now.

Nanto, I love those bright, cheery sunflowers. Enjoy your trip into town. I wonder if it will be very busy.

Oma, you're right, Eva is always ready for a cuddle. It's good when you enjoy a book that's a bit different from your usual reading. Enjoy relaxing and leave the boxes in the spare room till another day.

Good morning, it is much colder here today.

Daisy, your poor DIL, having to cope with that over Christmas, tooth ache!!!! A young man from the gym had 4 wisdom teeth removed the other day week, in one go!!! My son said they should never have done all four together and why? I did ask him why as he is only 23 years old, he said it was advised by his dentist as prevention!

I have just ordered yet another duvet!! Filled with cotton this time!

Lizzie, how awful having all 4 wisdom teeth removed as a preventative. I've ever heard of that before.

I think it's traditional Chinese Medicine where teeth are linked via meridians to various organs in the body. I've no idea how true that is, but it's an interesting concept.

Enjoy your cotton duvet. I hope this is "the one".

I hope the duvet is the right one as well.

Are you both feeling any better Daisy?

I suppose removing healthy wisdom teeth is because of overcrowding.

Daisy now the decision has been made to give up Christmas you will probably feel more relaxed about it. You must have a celebration when you feel better and Dil doesn’t have toothache. Good idea to treat yourselves to steak meal.

Gem, I hope you manage to fight off that threatening virus. Good news about the car.

GD2 and her OH are here with their dear little one, they have just got back from a visit to the other GP and family in Yorkshire. I am attempting to wrap some presents, I am not very good at it but it is only just ripped off not admired. It is like the quiet before the storm here.

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

I had some teeth removed to ease overcrowding when I was a teenager, but my dentist says it's not recommended to do that now as the teeth either side of the gap lean inwards.

Plant, I've planned the steak meal because it's OH's favourite, but actually I'm not keen, but I have no appetite at the moment and it's hard to find anything I fancy. I hope you get your wrapping done, before the storm! We've still got to do ours, but neither of us feel like it.

I bet GD2's in laws were delighted to see them and the baby. How many you will be for Christmas Day?

Daisy hopefully you will start to feel better and get a bit more appetite back, then can enjoy your Christmas with OH. It is perfectly natural and understandable to feel regretful and sad about the Christmas you should be having. I know I definitely would.

Plant Christmas with a little one around is extra special.

The library was busier than we expected and time passed quickly. The hairdresser was already here cutting OH's hair when I got back.
We had a lovely afternoon at DD2's.

                              Good morning on Christmas Eve.

Hope those under the weather feel better soon.

Plant, did you get your wrapping done, its not my favourite job. I like to do it as soon as I buy a present, rather than doing it all at once.

Have a lovely Christmas eve ladies.

That's a lovely graphic for this morning Nan2

Good morning and happy Christmas Eve to everyone.

Aqua this morning. No other plans which is how we like Christmas Eve!
I may make the mash for Boxing Day and freeze it. There will be 11 for lunch on that day so good to get that part done ahead.

I hope the Daisies are starting to feel better, and everyone else too.
