Good morning everyone, snow was forecast, luckily, up to now, it hasn't arrived.

it is a lovely photo of Finn, the one of Tommy as well Nanto, they soon turn into toddlers.

I love DIY shops, I always have done, I put it down to growing up next to a joiners yard and my eldest brother being a joiner.

Nanto, I know exactly how your DH's friend feels, I like to be out and about!!!

This is a long story. My late DH had a son from his first marriage, after DH passed away we lost touch then about 9 years ago he came with his son, then about 8 years old, after that I didn't see him again until he stood at the door on Friday with a bunch of flowers! It was 24 years ago on Friday that we got to know DH had only a few months to live. We sat talking and he produced papers from a life insurance that this father took out for him, he hadn't known it existed until he was tidying papers out, so he said, he asked me to sign it being DH's inheritor, I signed it then he took a photo of my license as an ID. After he left it got me thinking, what had I done!!!! I hardly slept and was at the police station at 9am, not knowing they are not open on a Saturday and that you need an appointment nowadays. The young man must have felt sorry for me so he let me in and listened to my story, he said it was all strange and they they would make a file of it and that is my ID was used for anything at all I had to go to them. I then called at the friends house, he is with the police and his wife was as well, they got in touch with a friend in the insurance business, he said he could need my signature to cash in on the insurance. The friend messaged him for me asking for a copy of what I had signed, I felt better after that.

The (step)son phoned yesterday afternoon and said he would get me a copy and that there was a lot happening at home, he phoned this morning if he could call in, his wife has thrown him out!!! A strange carry on, they have a son, he is 17 years old now, apparently the wife had ADAD and can be difficult to live with at times, over the years they have had their ups and downs, now it is really down. I told him I will always listen, which I will. I know I can't have him here, couldn't anyway as there is a dog as well. He is staying at a good friends for the time being. I have said he is welcome for a meal, he has taken me up on that. As for the documents, I told him I was worried that I had signed them, he said he understood that, I now have copies of everything!!

I just hope that it is all soon settled for him and that he can find somewhere to live, that won't be easy.

Daisy! Lovely to hear from you and that you are having a lovely weekend
          Talk to you tomorrow xx

Oma I'm sure D and J will be happy to see you. I hope you all had a good brunch.

Lizzie, gosh a long involved story indeed! I hope you feel less worried about your signature now.
I will leave your post here in Chat but copy the relevant part into a separate thread. So many people miss post here in chat and may want to comment.

I have had a lazy morning! I small amount of tidying up, and a long relaxing bath.

Lizzie, Legal documents can be quite worrying but as I understood this inheritance is made out to him why did he need your signature?

Oma, I am sure you will have a lovely time with your friends and family when you meet for lunch.

Nanto, I would love a roast dinner today but no desire to cook it for one. I think I will be having sausages.

Feeling very lazy today, not long got dressed. Woke up late so was slow to get organised. Having a late breakfast means I don’t feel like lunch.

We had a lovely catch up chatted far too long , time just flew by ,

Got home and found the bedding from the spare bed hadn't spun off ,
This has happened a few times this week so looks like a new washer is on the cards ,
I've turned the washer off and put it on a cycle again to see what happens,
If it doesn't spin I will have to take it down to DDs to get it spun off .

Plant, there are quite a few things that I don't understand, that is why I was so worried, I now have the documents I signed, the police said if I receive anything at all I don't trust I just have to go to them. I don't know what to make of it all really, I told him I can listen, there isn't much else I can do. It is all a strange carry on, but, that happens.!

Lizzie, where is this inheritance money coming from, have you got to find it?

Well the bedding eventually spun off after hours of trying,
It then switched off and wouldn't turn on again,
So a new one has had to be ordered ,
Why does everything go together 🥴 more money to pull out.

Plant it is a life insurance that was taken out when he was born, the only thing is, I have no idea that they haven't heard anything about it in 24 years.

                        Good morning.

Oma, I can remember a few years ago, we had 3 things that all went in the same week. It was fridge freezer, washing machine and Tv. They say things come in threes, they did for us.

Lizzie, you did the right thing about checking up about signing for stepson.

My plans are to clean upstairs and make sure downstairs is tidy.

Hubby rang his pal yesterday and he said he had eaten a little bit of dinner. He's fed up of being stuck in the house.

Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans for dinner.

                          Good Monday morning, everyone.

Nanto, It sounds as though your OH's pal is slowly getting better. You won't forget the week when 3 major appliances went wrong. A nice easy dinner for you. Don't overdo the housework.

Lizzie, I'm trying to get to grips with what the young man is on about. If it was a life insurance presumably premiums have been paid on it, but if it's on his life it won't pay out until he passes away? (Sorry, I really should have put this in the other thread - but I read that first!)

Oma, what a nuisance about your washing machine. At least it did the decent thing and finished off the load that was in there before it finally gave up the ghost. It must have done you all good to have a get together yesterday after so long. I can imagine you were all totally talked out by the time you left. It does you good, though, doesn't it.

Gem, did your lazy morning stretch into the afternoon as well?

We had a lovely time at DIL1's this week-end. DIL and I had time for a really good catch up and chat. Yesterday morning both her mum and step-mum called round and we had coffee, cake and another good chat. OH and GS1 are planning to renovate our DS1's old Saab 96 car. It was originally mine and I gave it to DS1 when he was 17. He learned to drive in it. He's had it on the road off and on over the years, but once he became ill he didn't really have the time or energy to look after it, and the bodywork needs attention. GS1 is quite knowledgable about cars and it will be a good project for OH and GS to spend time on together, overhauling the engine etc.

GS2 and I spend some time messing about on the piano, which is always fun.

Plant, I don't want to make your mouth water, but DIL cooked an amazing roast beef dinner for us yesterday. I'm not a huge fan of roast dinners, but this really was delicious. She said it was nice to have the house full of activity, so a good week-end for all of us.

My first job today is to go and fetch Eva from DS2's. The house is so quiet without her.

                            Good morning everyone.
                            The sun is (weakly) shining!

Oma, once an appliance goes there is often another!

Nan2, I hope your OH's friend gets better soon.

Aquafit this morning. This afternoon we are taking my car to a local garage. We paid a while ago for a new valve on a tyre with a slow leak. The low pressure light is coming on again now. OH can pump it up and it's good for a while then the light comes on. As they have supposedly fitted a new valve we want them to check it.

                              Daisy, our posts crossed.
It's lovely to hear about your weekend. Your DS would have hoped for those ongoing family times for you all xxx
Yes , we had a lazy afternoon of TV and Rummikub DD1 and friends postponed their night out, so I wasn't needed to babysit last night, so an evening at home too.

                                Morning ladies,
                                Daisy
I'm pleased you had a good weekend and DIL enjoyed your company,
The car will keep both your GS and J close to your DS,

That valve has been a nuisance hasn't it, I hope they finally get it sorted after all you paid good money for it to be fixed.

                                Nanto
Pleased to hear Hubby's friend is on the mend ,
Enjoy lunch, I like a nice jacket potato.

The washing machine is the latest in a line of things,
We had to have a new tumble 4 weeks ago, then the Microwave went then a new iron , although I could have carried on using the old one but B thought it was dangerous as it was looking past it's best.

We. Had a massive power out last night ,
About 10 pm we were plunged into darkness , even the street lights were off.
B received a text from national grid to say they were aware of it and it covered 92 post codes and about 15000 homes ,
Everyone's alarms were beeping but not actually going off,
They said it would be restored by midnight and it was.
I was on the phone to DD when it went off, she said well it's a good excuse to go to bed early , no point sitting in the dark 😁

I had just dozed off when it came back on and I had forgotten the bedside lights were still on ,
I jumped to turn them off knocking a glass of blackcurrant all over ,
So then had to get up to clean that away, it got everywhere,
Luckily it missed my clean duvet cover but got on the bottom sheet and pillowcase.
Just a couple of spots so I wasn't going to change them I waited till this morning.
