    Good (wet!) morning from me.
Just a quickie as GS2 is due. It is my busy day with him all day and collecting GD from school. OH is going out to lunch so I am on my own today. I will just have to be careful hauling the buggy in and out of the boot!
Daisy, your internet connection must be so frustrating!
I will catch up with you all later.
    Have a good day.

Wet here too hope the sun comes out later.

DD and SIL are at the airport collecting my youngest GD and her partner (a lovely Yorkshire lad on the same course as her in Canada).

          Good morning ladies.

Nanto - It's the hero of my front garden - flowers for months and still looks fresh and green in the depths of winter - plus it supresses the weeds with ruthless efficiency!

Gem -I could write a book on the saga of our internet connection. When they talk about 95% of the country being covered it isn't the whole truth! Our village has excellent coverage, except the few roads controlled by the now infamous Cabinet 2. This was wired up with aluminium wires (cheaper than copper) when the houses were built in the 60s. We've had problems with phone connections for the 30+ years we've lived here and of course the arrival of the internet etc has totally poleaxed it. But the cabinet is on National Park land and to get a new one put in is harder than trying to get planning for a 50 storey concrete block of sub-standard flats! We're hoping that there's light at the end of the tunnel - a wonderful family at the end of our road has offered to allow Open Reach to site a new cabinet in their garden. But ... it has to get planning consent and that isn't straightforward because the cabling will have to cross a grass verge which is classed as a SSSI. So a channel would have to be dug up and then replaced - the sort of thing that nature will recover from in a few weeks. And I know we have to preserve our endangered species and protect the environment for future generations etc, etc, but honestly, this is a few tufts of grass and common weeds like dandelion and dock.

I've just checked and we've currently got a Download speed of 2.46 Mb/s, Upload of 1.03 Mb/s and Ping was 706 ms. If you want to check your speeds, here's a link:

Check your broadband speed test using our easy and accurate broadband speed checker.

Ping is the connection time in milliseconds. Under 200 is very good, 2-400 is average. 700 + is pretty awful.

It has got so bad that it's affecting house sales in the area!!! Sorry - rant over!

But the sun's shining today, although I don't think it will last, but I'm hoping it will hold out long enough for me to do some gardening, and then a friend is coming round for dinner tonight, so I'm hoping OH will have finished painting the kitchen or we'll be eating in the living room or the garden!! I've done my Domestic Goddess bit and made a casserole yesterday, so there's only a pud to think about.

Gem - do be careful with that buggy - they're heavy and awkward.

Been to pick dog up and on way called into Aldi for cheese , GS1 loves cheesy pasta but likes 3 kinds of cheese on and they have to be strong cheese , He's loved strong mature cheese since he was a baby hates as he calls it tasteless ones , anyway I could hear this woman's voice in the next isle and I thought that so sounds like a old friend I haven't seen for about 15 years and it was her , lovely to see her we had a chat and arranged to call one night next week , we lost contact when she moved away and then we did . always nice to catch up isn't it .

              Afternoon ladies.

Its been a lovely sunny day here , in fact I was able to sit outside and chat to DS for a lot of the morning but now its getting very overcast , I think rain is on its way.
OH went to town this morning to buy himself some aftershave. He ahs come home with a book , a new jacket and a classical cd ( which is playing in the back ground which sounds really nice and relaxing ) Not any aftershave in sight !

Beautiful day here but the sky looked threatening about an hour ago, so I dashed out to get the washing. Now blooming hot sunshine and washing back on the line. Lounge is now finished and all straight again, I have my bedroom and the spare room doors to do yet. There were new white doors about 13 years ago and have lost their brightness, so a lick of white paint will restore them. Hubby is currently fitting a cupboard under the bathroom basin, waiting for Matt to arrive with his jigsaw to help. Menna passed her bike ability this week bless her, I remember it as cycling proficiency.

The sunshine has arrived here Libra now Libra, very nice.

GD arrived safely from Canada and they went straight to bed for a sleep, just been in to see me and they both still short of sleep. GD has given orders that she must see the new baby today, so I presume he will be up later with his mum and dad of course.

Libra you sound like you have had a busy day. I can remember the cycling proficiency test . Well done Menna on passing her bike agility test.

We have just had an almighty storm here, first thunder then lightning and then the heavens opened and down came the hail beating my poor plants about , but it's all past by now and the sun is out again, crazy weather isn't it .

It's certainly been a day of sunshine and showers, but we didn't get the promised claps of thunder.

LG - Well done to M on passing her bike ability. M - ride safely.

Plant how lovely to have your GD back home, along with her young man. I hope she's now met the newest member of the family and had a lovely cuddle. Is your car ok?

Mimi - it's lovely to have a bit of time to sit in the sun and relax! OH had a good shopping trip, then! Watch out or he might be helping himself to your best perfume or moisturiser if he's got no aftershave, but I'm sure he will look very smart in his new jacket.

I managed to get a couple of tubs planted up between showers, did a couple of loads of washing and tidied up around the garden a bit. OH finally finished the kitchen about 5 pm so I had to get a move on to prepare pudding for this evening. With very limited time I made individual trifles with a ginger cake base, apples, raspberries and apricot topped with custard and raspberry coulis and finished with icing sugar and ginger 'sprinkles'. Guess who's been watching Master Chef - although presentation and recipe leave a lot of room for improvement! LOL

Good morning ladies. The sun is shining, but i think thunderstorms are forecast for later.

                              Good morning, ladies.

Nanto - I think we've got the same weather forecast. I just hope it stays fine for a dog training session this afternoon. Eva is terrified of thunder, and I bet quite a few of the other dogs who will be there will panic as well.

Oma - The nights are very short now, aren't they. I hope you got to sleep eventually. xx

                              Have a lovely day, ladies.

Sunny atm, I think the gardens have had enough rain. We had an enormous clap of thunder and a rainbow yesterday, it really shook the house.

I should have loved you to see GD cuddling the baby, she couldn't take her eyes off him, he was peacefully asleep.

Very weird yesterday evening, SIL turned my television off when I went through to see GD holding baby then when I came back in here it wouldn't come on so GS who was here with baby came in and rebooted the sky box and that cured it, I turned it off at 11 oclock when I came to bed but at 2 oclock I was woken up by the television blasting away, came into the room and turned it off, very odd, I know they will not believe me.

Thank you for asking Daisy but my car is very poorly, not dented but the tyre hitting the curb as pushed a piece of the body apart and it is letting damp into my front light, must go and get estimates next week to see if I need to make a claim or pay for it myself. Very cross with myself.

                                Trifle sounds delicious Daisy
