NCS visit was really good. I was impressed with the kids. On the way back in the tube there was a foreign family, don't know where they were from Portugal? Brazil? Certainly not French or Italian or Spanish, they had two young children with them and they were making them laugh which was nice but soooo noisy. Also they took over the tube aisle with the pushchair and loads if suitcases. Grumpy overheated commuter here.......

At Kings Cross there is an area called Granary Square which has dancing fountains, four of. It was like a beach front! Families there with little children jumping in and out of the fountains in their swim suits, parents setting out picnics and laying on sun beds. Amazing. Never seen that before. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves in the middle of London.

Tomorrow I am going to have a be kind to myself day. I will do some work but I feel quite exhausted after the last few days.

Oma, hope you are feeling better.
I did jury service in the hot summer of 1976.The courtroom roof was glass, and they let us out a few times to give us ice creams.

Got a bit worried this morning, when I came home from parents. Me and hubby were sat outside with a cuppa, and I noticed the neighbour across the road hadn't
opened his bedroom or living room blinds. He is in his late 70's and lives on his own.You can set your clock when he opens them at 7.30, but this was at 11.15.
We had to nip out, so we went to his next door neighbour, to see if they had heard him or seen him, and apparently an ambulance had been at 2am. Anyway, he must be ok,
as someone dropped him home at 5'oclock.

Oh forgot to say, my friend and her hubby came this afternoon, and she is looking better now. Her taste buds haven't come back, but her sense of smell is getting better now. She showed me her operation scar, and I must say the surgeon has done a very neat job, although she is still a bit sore. I feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel now.

Nanto,I'm glad your neighbour is back home. It must be awful to live on your own and be taken ill ,especially in the middle of the night.
I'm pleased your friend was able to visit and is getting on well.

Good morning all. It's supposed to be very hot outside today so I have told OH that he is not to do too much today. He went with DS to have a look at his new flat (he is moving in on Thursday) yesterday and when he got home he wasn't feeling very good at all . The heat had completely exhausted him. The fact that he has to travel to Birmingham hospital tomorrow is giving me cause for concern.
Just going back to the topic of jury service, in part of the form that has to be filled in , there is a box to fill in declaring that you have a good understanding of English, suggesting that you can read English , so why is there a need for the information about jury service, the rules and what to expect when you are summoned for service etc, written in several other languages ?

                  Good morning all.

Mimi, good advice for your OH to take it easy in this heat. It's natural that you worry about him.

Oma, I hope you are feeling better today.

Very rare 'free' day for me! OH has a routine follow up appointment for her thumb op, followed by golf, otherwise it would have been nice to do something together.
I have our bedding in the wash, and I need to make up the spare bed too, as GD will stay here tomorrow night and GS1 on Friday. I will also do some of the holiday ironing which is still lurking about. Not too much, you can't waste a lovely day ironing (Unless you are a BB of course )

I have had my pasty but no local fish yet. Not sure what I am going to do today, GS who is staying with me is not up yet. I expect the others will hit the beach whilst the weather is good, might go down on the bus to join them later. DIL and the three eldest boys went to St Ives yesterday as there were no waves for surfing, not sure if I will make it there this year as we are only here for a week. Must go and visit the Lifeboat station to buy my Chrstmas cards before we go back.

Cleaned bedrooms and bathroom this morning. All towels and bedding washed and dried.
Gem, hope OH's appointment goes well.
I agree Clover, must be awful to be taken ill when you live on your own, especially during the night. I did take notice today, and his blinds were open at the usual time.

Hi Plant, I hope you are enjoying Cornwall and sampling some cream teas, as well as the local fish

Nan2, OHs appointment was running really late and as she was booked to play golf, she had to miss it. She told reception she couldn't wait any longer and they will send her another appointment. It was only to sign her off really. Not sure why they were running so late as her appointment was for just after 9am.

I have washed the inside of the living room windows, dusted and hoovered downstairs, washed the bedding, done quite a lot of ironing, and done a supermarket shop (in person, not online) so feeling quite virtuous. I also managed to watch several episodes of Stella on Sky box set, so I did have some fun

Wow Gem what did you have for breakfast to give you so much energy?
I know what you mean about clinics running late. You can understand if it's a latish appointment but I suspect the Consultants don't turn up on time for one reason or another.
My 3 month hospital check-up appointment was due this month but when I hadn't heard anything from them I rang up and was told the Consultant had just gone off on a three week holiday.I know everyone is entitled to a holiday but .........!

Oh cream teas yummy I do hope you are indulging Plant well would be rude not too wouldn't it 😀
Gem some clinics are ridiculous we never expect to get into see Brians consultant till at least 1 hour after his appointment time , but we did wait to see the Radiographer over 3 hours a few weeks back turns out she was over booked and had no registrar to help out , finally found one to get the queue down , people were having to leave to put more money in the parking meters and then the sister told the reception to put they were running 45 minutes late , big difference between 45 minutes and 3 hours

No cream teas yet but perhaps tomorrow. Cornish pasty was very good, made by the local butcher.
