We get ours from the local farm shop they only keep their chickens for a short time, to get the best laying from them, so when they order new ones they will get a few extra for us.

A day of sun and cloud today.Turned quite cool now.
Went shopping today, but I was absolutely shattered when we got home, which is so unlike me.
I think it was probably due to having a few bad nights sleepwise. Anyway, I think my batteries have recharged now.

I had a lovely day today on a trip to Lincoln. My church had organised a coach trip to see the Poppy wave at the castle. I had only been there in the dark to their Christmas market and am afraid to say that I had not realised there was a castle there as well as the cathedral. My friend and I walked all round the castle walls and up the turret for fantastic views and of course saw the poppies. We then walked down to the river and back up the steep cobbled hill to the cathedral quarter. What a lovely city. I recommend anyone to visit the poppies before they are dismantled at the end of the month.

Avo, I'm sorry to hear about your chicken, they all have their difference personalities don't they. Today I watched a chick being born. I have seen this before but it's still thrilling to see the shell starting to crack and then the first sight of the little spike on the beak chipping away at the shell and then the bedraggled looking chick slowly wriggling out. There were also lots of 1-2 day old chicks which children were being encouraged to hold. I commented to the chicken's "Mum" how calm the chicks were and she said they love being held gently because of the warmth from the children's hands. It makes them relax and go sleepy. Baby duckling apparently wriggle too much.

Millie - I'm glad you enjoyed your day in Lincoln.

Nanto - no wonder you felt tired after having so little sleep. I hope you have a better night tonight.

Gem - we look forward to hearing about your Family Fest day.

Uma - I love your units.

Zizzi - hope you will be able to show us some photos from T2S - and you have had time to relax with a little drink or two.

MillieB, your day in Lincoln sounds lovely. our youngest and his partner went there for the weekend a couple of months ago, and enjoyed it.

MillieB I've never been to Lincoln, perhaps when when OH and his family suggest another long weekend away we should consider there.
Nanto did you get a better nights sleep, if it's any help I was awake till gone 3 last night and then I woke at half 5 .DD complains she isn't getting much sleep at the moment because of having to to night feeds and then settle GS back to sleep but I told her at least she has a reason why she isn't sleeping. I just constantly fidget unable to lie still for more than a few minutes!

Yesterday was such a lovely day with DD , DIL, SIL and all 4 of my GC together in one place which doesn't happen very often.
We haven't much planned for today, how about everyone else, ?

                  Good morning everyone.
We had a great time yesterday, getting back home after midnight. My hair really smells of bonfire smoke this morning!

Plant, I hope you are having a lovely time in Cornwall.
Mimi, I'm sure it was lovely to see all 4 GC

This afternoon I am going to the cinema, to see a screening of Romeo and Juliet, I forget which theatre it is from. I starts at 3, I will go to see my mum for an hour or so first, as she lives not far from the cinema.

We're off to IWM Duxford where hubby has his first flying lesson today. We're taking a picnic and exploring the museum too, it's a long time since i've been here. DS, DIL and GS are joining us. Maybe other DS and family but DIL has to work this morning so they're not sure.

Oma, that doggy makes lots of work for you!

You are right, it was worth it, it was really lovely Hair shampooed now so smoky smell all gone, and all the clothes we wore are drying on the line. When I was hanging up the lightweight fleece I wore in the evening, I noticed a small round hole at the back, near the hem. One of the stray sparks from the fire must have got me

Off to my afternoon of culture soon. I will vist mum on the way, I hope she doesn't smoke while I am there, having just de-smoked my hair!!

Avo - I've commented on FB about your OH's first flying lesson. My OH absolutely loved learning to fly and after he got his PPL went on to do twin engine, night flying and several other things, and also flew several different sorts of plane, which means you have to do a type check for each one. We had loads of fun, too - like flying down to Guernsey or the Isle of Wight for lunch or mad things like that. He also got his American licence and we flew quite a lot in the States where it's much cheaper - and there's a lot more unrestricted air space.

It's definitely worth you having some lessons, too, even if you don't want to do the whole licence. I just learned to land, fly straight and level, use the radio and a bit of navigation which meant when we were flying in a strange place I could fly while OH navigated. The focus of the lessons was on safety and being able to do basic things if, for example, the pilot was incapacitated for any reason. I also learned to take off, but I would never have done this 'for real', flying with OH. Sadly after OH retired it got even more expensive and our income was then lower!

Keep us posted on how OH enjoys his lessons.

I've had a busy few days as a few weeks ago I noticed an awful dark damp patch on the ceiling of a room I use for ironing. A k a DS 1's old bedroom. It must have developed virtually overnight. We found the cause,an overflow pipe had come adrift and luckily we were able to mend it ourselves. Anyway that meant waiting for the ceiling to dry out and at last over the last couple of days I've been painting the whole ceiling. The room is full of "stuff" so I was up and down moving things every couple of minutes so I could reach the next bit..
Then of course I saw all the dust so had to virtually Spring-clean and wash the curtains etc.I hate rehanging curtains but am determined to make myself do it in the next 30 minutes or so.

Daisy I hope the week goes well with the GSs and you have enough supplies in.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Back from our little jaunt up to Lancashire. Had a good time but the days were very busy so we were glad to get home for a rest

has as bee hot here over the weekend so we did loads of work in the garden, tried to start early before it got too warm, and it all looks good now. Poor DH is suffering with his back though, so an easy few days ahead I think.

had my check up,at the dermatologist clinic on our return and all is ok. Just a couple of sun damage patches but nothing nasty. She told me to keep an eye on things and if I was concerned in the future to go back to see her, but she didn't foresee any problems. Phew

We have just booked a week in a cottage for the end of September, just a few miles from Bath, lots of NT places to visit and we love Bath so a nice relaxing week.

hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather ☀️
