Good morning Lizzie and all who follow.
Bright now, but I think rain has been forecast.

Daisy, love the idea of plants in the garden that DS liked.
The pancakes I make are the ordinary shrove Tuesday type. I made a dozen yesterday.

No plans for today, apart from hubby having gone to the car boot sale with his brother.

Dinner today is mash and some of the mince and veg filling I had left over from a couple of days ago.

      Morning Ladies,
      Nanto,
the same forecast here, it’s lovely and bright but quite cold .

      Lizzie
Thats some priced wheels , I assume it’s the professional rider market they are aimed at.

      Daisy
How lovely to put all DSs favourite flowers in , such a fitting reminder.
MIL was much brighter when DD went in but she always is when she sees her.
They talked about the OT going in and she asked DD to be there when she does ,it’s been DDs job for 32 years so she knows what to ask for .

Meeting our friends and the family for our usual breakfast meet up , but apart from that everything done so no other plans .

Good Sunday morning, everyone. It's bright and sunny, but chilly here as well.

Lizzie, my new phone's an iPhone 14 Max (I think!) much bigger than my old one, but with a much better camera function. We use chutney as an accompaniment to a ploughman's lunch, on some sandwiches, with cold meats, sausages and all sorts of things. You can make it as mild or as spicy as you like, and we seem to use a lot of it!

I know a lot of keen amateur cyclists here who spend a fortune on their 'best' bikes. We have a neighbour who's best bike is so light you can lift it with a couple of fingers. You're right, though, they don't come cheap, and I think they're often made to order.

Nanto, I love pancakes, but I'm not very good at making them! It must be nice being able to just take what you need out of the freezer. I hope your OH enjoys the car boot sale.

Oma, good to hear your MIL was brighter yesterday. I'm sure it would help if your DD can be there when the OT does her assessment. Knowing the right questions to ask makes a big difference. Enjoy your get together and breakfast.

It's our GD1's birthday today, so we're going over there sometime to take her presents. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since she was born! I've got some washing in, and need to go and get a shower before a friend comes for coffee.

          Good morning everyone.

Nan2 freezing pancakes is a very good idea.

8am gym on a Sunday morning Lizzie, you are setting us a good example!

Oma, its a big advantage for MIL having your DD with her with her professional knowledge. Glad to hear MIL was brighter.

That area in your garden is such lovely idea Daisy. I hope your GD has a lovely birthday. They are growing up too fast!

          How is your back Plant?

We had a lovely afternoon/evening at DD1s. The cat appeared every so often then ran off! She's not allowed outside yet. DD has gone from indifferent to cats to doting cat lady and doesn't really want to let her out of her sight at all

Very sunny and very windy here today. I have pegged out washing - securely!
OH and SIL2 are going to play golf today. They only really play together on holiday, so it will be a nice change for them both. OH has several Guest games each year so he is there on one of those.
I am intending to give our bedroom a good dust and hoover this afternoon, possibly all 3 bedrooms.
This evening we are eating out with a group of friends, another birthday celebration. It's the French restaurant in York which is one of our favourites.

My painful back got worse yesterday evening and I had to call on DD and Sil to help me to bed. I managed to sleep with the help of pain killers. I am not going to sit in an armchair today, just a hard dining chair. They have gone shopping and taken my list too. I don’t think I will be getting dressed today.

Daisy. I think the same iPhone as GD1. I call it a mini iPad!! It won't fit in your pocket though!!

The Santo cycles are more touring than race, they do the race type but what they specialise in are the strong touring kind for very long, inter continental, cycling. https://www.santosbikes.com/en/

Plant, your poor back, you must be in so much pain. Can you get to see a doctor?

Gem, I didn't go to the gym, I went to Zoetermeer instead, very windy on the way home so that was a very good work out!!

Plant, I'm sorry to hear about your sore back. I hope today sees some improvement. Maybe it'd be best of we left lunch for this week and arrange another when you're feeling better?

I have an appointment with the consultant on Thursday, so we'll see what he has to say and what the next steps are.

Brightish day here, but not particularly warm and the wind's getting up. Thinking about going to an art club exhibition in the next village, but I haven't decided yet!

We're starting to plan our next post box topper for the village post box. Autumn is the theme!! The organiser would like pumpkins and leaves, so I'd best get my needles and patterns out and see what I can do.

DD etc have finished their Med cruise and are having a few days in Majorca before heading home. The cruise sounded full on and DD said she was doing nothing for the time they're in Majorca.

Hope everyone has a good day x

Happy birthday Daisy's GD 1 and I hope Oma's MiL is making good progress x

It was sunny this morning, but its clouded over now.
Wind has got up,making it feel quite cool.

                      How are you feeling now?
You must ring the Drs or go to primary care if it gets no better , you can’t go on like that bless you xxx

Did GD have a nice birthday?

I hope your enjoying your meal out 😁

We had a lovely breakfast with the family this morning , we then came home and I got on with cleaning the fridge and washing the towels.

Went to see MIL , she wasn’t as bright today.
I asked the nurse on duty why she wasn’t more mobile yet,
She said well she’s been sitting in the chair this morning.
Thats not mobile, she needs to be on her feet.

We took a pressure cushion in for her as she said the chairs were hard and they didn’t have any cushions .
To be honest Im not happy about the treatment , the nurses are lovely but it seems it’s easier to let them lie in bed all day .

Plant, I'm really concerned about your back. Sitting is probably not very comfortable, but if you can move round a little (very gently!) that might help. As Gem suggested yesterday a warm wheat bag might help to relax tense muscles. But I also think you need to get some medical help - have you spoken to your physio GS? He might be able to recommend the best type of help.

Lizzie, those bikes look really impressive - no wonder they're expensive. I've read some of the accounts of people's long-distance rides and their adventures along the way. It must have been hard cycling back in the wind today.

Oma, I can understand your concerns. Your MIL needs to be as active as possible, but I think most patients need gentle encouragement because they know it will be painful and tiring. What does your DD say? It's terrible that they don't have simple things like cushions/pillows to make patients more comfortable, snd I think nurses are pushed for time and have to do far too much paperwork, when they really should be caring for their patients.

WeeGranny, did you go to the Art Club exhibition? I'm sure it would have been interesting. I love the knitted/crocheted post box decorations and look forward to seeing what you design. I'm sure your DD will enjoy a few days R&R after such a busy holiday.

Nanto, it's been windy and cool here today as well, although it was more or less dry - just a few odd spots of rain here and there.

Gem, you must be so pleased that your DD has realised what a lovely pet a cat makes. She sounds a very protective Cat-Mum. Did your OH and SIL2 enjoy their round of golf? Did you get all three bedrooms cleaned? Birthdays seem to be coming thick and fast among your circle at the moment, but I'm sure you all have a great time. I love French food! What did you have? I had trouble pegging washing out this maroning, and it still got blown about and tangled in the whirlygig.

Thank you all so much for the good wishes for GS1's birthday. I've written about it on the birthday thread - she had a lovely week-end.

Good morning on this bank holiday Monday.
According to the forecast its going to get a bit warmer, hooray.

Plant, you need some medical help if your back is no better.

Oma, hope your MIL can get a bit more mobile. The longer she is immobile, the harder it will get.
Glad you had a lovely family breakfast.

Gem, hope you enjoyed your meal out.

No plans for us today, not expecting any visitors.

It's an easy dinner today, fish fingers, potato croquettes and mushy peas.

Good Bank Holiday Monday morning, everyone.

I don't know how it is for everyone else, but Bank Holidays seem to pass us by since retirement unless we've got family get togethers. Even then we tend not to arrange them for a Monday.

So today's just another day, and since it's not actually pouring with rain I'll get some gardening done. DS2 gave me some kale plants yesterday and I need to get them planted, and netted or they'll get eaten before they've grown!

Nanto, it sounds as though you've got a nice relaxing day as well.

                              Good morning everyone.

Very sunny here so far, and that wind is still here.

                              How are you Plant?

Bank holidays aren't the same after retirement I agree Daisy. For me it means no aquafit class, which is annoying!

We need it warmer Nan2, it was decidedly chilly yesterday. Autumn seems to be threatening to come too soon.

Oma, we found my dad was a lot better cared for when they moved him from the hospital to a respite place. Much better care and attention there.

Daisy I got precisely ZERO bedrooms done yesterday I just lazed around. OH and SIL2 enjoyed their golf and SIL came back to us for coffee afterwards.
We had a good night last night . Good company and good food.

No plans today, but we may go out. OH just asked me to look up if Screwfix is open today . Still my beating heart
