Those who are suffering from the heat - come to the wet, dull and damp New Forest! It's been overcast all morning, but I got some weeding done. Then I was just trimming the edges of the lawn when it started to rain, so I left the edges and cut the lawn proper. By then it was too wet to do anything else. It was like winter this afternoon and was still drizzling when I took Eva out about 5 o'clock.

Compression bandages, sleeves and stockings must be an absolute nightmare in hot weather, and I do feel for you, Lizzie, and Oma's friend.

Nanto, will you be able to make a few rhubarb tarts with what you've got?

WG, I don't feel like eating when it's warm either. Is your DD better now? There are some horrible lurgies around. I love the sound of the colours for your cupboard and the wall. I like blue anyway, and the two shades will complement each other.

Good morning. It's certainly cooler this morning, but the sun is shining.

Daisy, I'm going to make a couple of rhubarb pies today, they will take less room up in the freezer than tubs of rhubarb.

If they have some coleslaw at the shop we'll have salad for dinner. I never gave it a thought when we were out yesterday.
Otherwise dinner will be I don't know what.

        Morning everyone

        Nanto
Did you enjoy your day out yesterday?
I bet the rhubarb pies go down well , we have a big vacuum pack in the freezer , it lies flat so doesn’t take much room up
Must get around to using it.

        Lizzie
These compression bandages have to stay on night time as well as all day so she gets no rest from them
But it’s a must so she has no choice.

Its a lovely day but a bit cooler than yesterday,
I have washing out and towels in the wash they should all dry nicely .

Im popping to Aldi then we are out for lunch with DD and clan .

Ive cleaned downstairs within a inch of its life ,
I will iron and do the bedrooms this afternoon then when we go away tomorrow I know it’s clean to come back too.

Good morning Nan2, Oma and everyone else.

Sunny but a bit breezy here.

I have some rhubarb in the freezer I need to make into something at some point Nan2.

Lizzie, the bandages make your life misery in hot weather I know.

Oma, your poor friend, she will be glad when the weather cools down. Enjoy lunch out. Where are you going tomorrow?!

I'm sorry you are having some rubbish weather Daisy. That was our weather just before we went on holiday.

GS3 is having a brunch birthday party today, presumably to work around his 1 to 3 pm nap time!
Friends are coming for a meal tonight. OH is cooking chicken with tarragon sauce. I made the mash yesterday, we will have veg of course. Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for pud, with crushed up meringue nests and ice cream.

Good morning, it is cooler now, luckily! We had a heavy shower at 9am but nothing like in the south of the country, I have seen films from festivals and they were literally floating!

            I love rhubarb!

Gem, enjoy the birthday brunch, 2 years soon goes!

Your poor friend Oma, it must be so warm in bed, at least I can take mine off to go to bed, I do sleep with my night socks on if my leg is playing up, but, luckily not very often.

I got a denim skirt sewn yesterday, keeping out of the heat!

You poor ladies having to wear those tight stockings when it is hot.

Oma are you going away and where to? That dog has a human brain I am sure. Have a lovely lunch.

Daisy we had a funny weather sort of day yesterday, very quiet but no sunshine.

I can’t believe that GS of yours is two. I am sure he will have a very enjoyable party.

Lizzie, you are a fast worker, denim skirt sewn in a day. Lovely picture of your Granddaughters.

Good Sunday morning, everyone. It's still damp, dull and a bit drizzly here, but I've washed cushion covers and throws so they're out on the line. I hoope they dry properly.

I could just fancy a rhubarb pie or crumble. With vanilla ice cream or lovely thick home-made custard.

Oma, enjoy your lunch out with DD and family. Sorry if I've missed mention of your holiday - somewhere nice I hope. xx. It makes such a difference coming home to a clean house - although I suspect yours is never 'dirty' because you have such high standards.

Nanto, I often used to buy coleslaw but while I was at DIL's I needed some one night and made it - really quick and easy and the GSs loved it. One of my SILs gave me a recipe years ago which included grated apple and a little dried fruit. I couldn't find the dried fruit in DIL's kitchen but added some apple sprinkled with lemon juice to keep the colour. I usually have a white cabbage in the fridge as they last for ages and are useful to have to add crunch to stir fries, salads etc.

I've just put the bathroom curtains in the wash, and then realised they are dry clean only! It will be interesting to see what happens. I thik they'll be ok as they were only cheap and I think manufacturers often slap a 'dry clean only' label so they don't have to check them for washability! (Is there such a word as 'washability'?).

EDIT. - sorry Oma, I've just seen your post about where you're going. I had a quick look online and it looks beautiful - so peaceful and lovely woodland and lakes.

Plant, the weather's much the same today. It looks as though it could rain any minute.

Plant, it wasn't in a day really, I started on it the other day and just finished it off yesterday.

Oma, I know the area very well near Burton Constable, my brother lived there a while and when I visited them 2 years ago we went for coffee on that park.

Your version sounds nice and tasty.

I made 3 rhubarb pies for the freezer and a crumble. The crumble is in the fridge for tomorrow.

                            Good morning. Nice and bright.

Hoping for an easier day today.

Yesterday we did some gardening, I made rhubarb pies and crumble for the freezer.

Had a couple of visitors. One of the visitors was a neighbour. Hubby had repaired her hoover, so she had tea and cake with us in the garden.
Her husband is in hospital with infected ulcerated legs. She said she had enjoyed having a natter. We told her she is welcome to come for natter anytime.

Dinner today is jacket potato with tuna and coleslaw. Made a little crumble yesterday, so will have that with custard.

Good Monday morning, everyone. Guess what? It's raining.

Nanto, I'ms ure your neighbour ws very grateful your OH mended her hoover. I hope her OH isn't in too much pain with his legs. It sounds horrible.

I've overslept - I meant to get going much earlier. I need to take some things over to DS2's, do some fruit and veg shopping and sort out some photos for DIL1. I reduced the ironing pile a bit yesterday, but I see the washing basket is full again! I want to get the spare room ready for OH's brother and his wife coming next week, as the end of this week will be busy.

                              I'll pop back later.

                                Good morning everyone.

Nan2, you are having a pie and crumble making time! I'm sure you neighbour appreciated the company, and the tea and cake!

Oma, I'm so glad you are having this holiday. Your York break and birthday were spoiled so you deserve it

Daisy, how did the bathroom curtains fare in the wash?!

We had a lovely time at GS3's little party yesterday. He loved it and we all did too. Good food, good chat and seeing the little one for his birthday celebration. He loved it.
'Baby' the doll we bought him was a big success and he pushed it around in it's pushchair a lot after his afternoon nap. We had all gone when he woke up, I bet he was surprised!
A good evening with our friends. the meal was a success, and it was warm enough (with a cardigan/throw ) to sit outside after dinner until late.

Aquafit this morning. DD3 mentioned maybe meeting up today but no firm plans were made, so we shall see. I am free in the afternoon.
