Oh poor Eva Daisy Well done on no hangover

We have done two dishwasher loads - one before we went to bed. There is a bit of bowl washing up and some general tidying to do.I am going to put the tablecloths in the wash now . My sofa smells a bit of dog though (I do have very sensitive sense of smell.) I think I will have to fabreze it. She was very good though.

Daisy, hope Eva is ok. Sis in laws dog chased a squirrel and jumped a fence and cut himself open on his belly.
That was some time ago now,he didn't take long to heal.

Oh Daisy, poor Eva, what a shock for you. I hope it all heals okay. How on earth did you manage to get back into control of your entertaining.

Oma, you can now sit and relax knowing your home is ship shape again.

My rooms were not used for entertaining so remained tidy and relatively clean and tidy. I haven’t seen anyone today.

Lizzie, how are you feeling today, I think you like routine.

Hope it’s not too late to wish all you lovely ladies a happy ,healthy and peaceful 2024.
I was in bed at midnight but luckily not fast asleep as there were some VERY loud bangs. Our Community Facebook page had a lot of complaints this morning about fireworks at 2.30 a.m .

Daisy I ‘m so sorry Eva injured herself. Horrible at any time but on such a busy day !! Hope she heals quickly though I expect your bank balance will take time to recover until the insurance which I’m sure you have kicks in. Normal vet fees are bad enough but for emergency ones you must need “Monopoly money”!

My few decorations won’t come down until 12th Night.

Nanto, thank you. Ouch, poor dog. That sounds painful, so a good job it healed quickly.

Gem, I had to smile at your sofa smelling of dog. I hope the Fabreze works. I'm forever hoovering dog hairs off our sofa and an armchair, especially if we're having visitor who might be wearing dark clothes which show every tiny hair! Eva isn't a particularly smelly dog except sometimes in the winter - even going for a walk in the rain seems to clean her up quite well.

After this morning's sunshine it turned cloudy, colder and now raining. We've done the rest of the clearing up, but I'm not washing tea towels etc today. My mother always did the washing on a Monday, unless it happened to be New Year's Day and she'd always leave it. She said if you do washing on NY's day you'll be washing all year! No logic in this whatsoever, but it's a good enough excuse for me to leave it today.

Leftovers for dinner, so no proper cooking tonight.

Plant and Clover, our posts crossed.

Plant, I have to admit we struggled to get ourselves re-organised for the evening. We were both quite shaken, and a half hour drive across the Forest to the vet hospital and then back again was so slow - lots of visitor traffic and flooded roads. You've had such a busy Christmas, I bet you're ready to get back to normal.

Clover, happy New Year to you as well. No wonder people were complaining about the noisy fireworks. I hope at some point they stop the sale of them to the general public. We've always had Eva insured and never claimed for anything. In fact we were wondering whether to cancel the policy - it's due for renewal later this month! The premiums are higher than for our cars, so we're definitely hoping to get this claim approved.

We always used to leave our decorations till 12th Night, but the last few years we've taken them down on the 2 or 3 January.

                  It's raining again!!!!

Clover, ours will be up until 12th night too. I feel a bit sad when neighbours start taking their outside lights down .

OH attacked the sofa with fabreze and I think it's better. I wouldn't mind if it was our old sofa with washable throw on, but this is my recliner one!
I think I would ask before letting my dog go onto the furniture of none dog owners!

Once we did the clearing up we had an easy day. I had a long bath this afternoon and watched Mrs Doubtfire. OH and I played Skip Bo, one of our favourite games .
There was enough sweet and sour left from last night so I only had reheat that and cook some rice. Leftovers like Daisy

I agree they should ask first ,
Storm is not allowed on my furniture and he know so never tries ,
Hes allowed on DDs but prefers a small chaise lounge they have under the window that DD puts a throw on .

she wouldn’t allow him on other peoples sofas though .

Its raining heavy here as well .

Morning all and a belated Happy New year.
DS spent New year's with us , he had to work New Year night but he came to ours after work, saw the new year in with us and then slept on the sofa.
In the morning before he had to go back to work he helped us get the Christmas decorations down.
OH struggled a bit with battling to get the Christmas tree packed away, he had to sit for a while to recover . Thankfully that nasty cough has improved at last. It has taken him a few weeks to shake it off

Gem it seems to have been raining non stop through all December and now January has started the same, rain , winds and more rain.

Daisy, my mum was extremely superstitious , she would never do any washing on New Year's day as she claimed it would bring you bad luck . Well I did two loads of washing yesterday!
Dad on the other hand was the complete opposite, he didn't believe in anything like that and I have to admit I follow his way of thinking.

If you recall I mentioned that a stone was thrown at our window Christmas eve, well apparently there have been more incidents like this in our area these past few days.
A few youths have been captured on security cameras and video door bells throwing, stones and bricks at windows and in one incident a metal bar was used to smash the windscreen of a car parked on the road.
Unfortunately a clear image of the scumbags isn't available. It could be any white 12 - 18 year old youths
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

                        Good morning.

Mimi, that's awful about the youths doing the damage. They never seem to get caught though.

We had heavy rain last night. Don't know what the forecast is for today.

Daisy, I've never heard that saying either.

Gem, you are right, dog owners shouldn't let their dogs on other people's furniture.

I want to change the bedding and clean upstairs, so I took some beef stew out of the freezer yesterday, for an easy dinner.

Oh, and we need to take the lights off the tree in the garden.

                          Morning ladies ,

                          Mimi
I often think what will they do when they are adults and someone throws a brick at their windows,
Mindless morons , if it was my boy that was caught doing that he wouldn’t know what hit him , 🤬

My DS has the same cough I rang this morning she’s been awake all night she sounds like a dog barking ,
BIL is the same so no peace in their house.

I hate taking the tree down it’s so big and heavy .

                          Nanto
Ive never been superstitious either , if it needs doing it gets done regardless of the day ,
It horrified my mother she wouldn’t take decorations down till 12 th night , washing was done before New Year’s Eve
Dont swear on a Sunday , Friday was fish day etc

How are we all today ready to tackle the next year 😁

GS coming this morning but first we going to Curry’s,

I have two stick hoovers ,A Dyson pet and a Vax .
The Dyson is on its last legs we changed the battery but it’s cutting out after 10 minutes, it’s very old now.
The Vax although a good hoover is far to heavy for my wonky fingers with the motor being like the Dyson on the top .
So I’m going to look for a proper plug in vacuum type that I know I can push along .

We would order online but I want to make sure it’s easy for me to use.

Rain and grey here again , did a dark wash that’s in tumble I will iron later .

Im not fat just 6ft too small

                            Good morning everyone.

Mimi the nasty little s***s. Let's hope they are caught eventually.

Nan2, we need to do our bedding today or tomorrow.

                            Enjoy seeing GS Oma.

Library for me this morning, The library has been closed from Christmas eve midday until 10 am today. They were leaving the heating on a frost setting. I was advised to dress warmly today in case it takes ages to warm up!

No golf for OH again. I am sure she is getting withdrawal symptoms! I think she is more moody - but she thinks it is me
I hate January along with most of us. No alternative but to get through it though unless we hibernate!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. It's blustery and very wet here. Nothing new though.

Mimi, I hope the police do catch these little thugs and take action. Pleased to hear your OH is at last feeling better. How kind of your ds to help with the decorations before going to work. The thing is, Oma, your boy wouldn't have done anything like that - he would have know there would be severe consequences from his mum and dad.

Gem, I hope the library warms up quickly, but at least you know to wear extra layers. Poor S. I'm sure she misses both the golf and the company, but perhaps she's also missing the exercise and fresh air. What about a trip to the coast this week if you can fit it in? Blow those cobwebs away. How is your knee now after being so busy over Christmas and New Year?

Nanto, a nice easy dinner sounds ideal. there's something about the new year which makes me want to clean and tidy. Luckily the urge soon passes

We'll get out decorations down today. I'll try and take Eva for a little walk if the rain eases off. She's been very good about leaving her wound alone, but she needs some gentle exercise. No, I wouldn't let her get on someone else's furniture. Cooper isn't allowed on the furniture, because when they got him as a puppy they knew he would be too big and heavy for the girls. But they allow Eva on the sofa! Their house, their rules but they know she likes to cuddle up to them.

We have had several dogs and they have never been allowed on the furniture. Gemini, perhaps you could have found something to put on your furniture for the visiting dog to lie on.

Decs are down here but I like to leave the cards up until 12th night. I need to go and stock my food cupboards today if I can get going. Had a lovely glass of champagne with DD and Sil last evening, they had a quiet New Year after the busy Christmas.

Mimi, I wonder what possess these youngsters to throw stones at peoples windows, very worrying for you. I hope they are caught soon and their parents informed what they have been up to.

Oma, is GS back to Uni soon, you do see him more than you feared. My DD is still coughing, she has had an antibiotic but it has not cleared her chest.
