I agree Oma, we shouldn't feel guilty about not getting dressed on a quieter day!

I had a lovely bath this afternoon Still a rarity since my knee op, but getting out is getting easier.
    I am at last dressed

OH off to her audio appointment soon. I will catch up with right Dr Who or Vigil, neither of which she follows. She shouldn't be out long but wants to start a Christmas jigsaw when she gets back which gives me a nice long time!

Thank you for good wishes to our GD. We went over about lunch time and our GDs' other grandfather was already there and grandma arrived later. GD2 was very excited and greeted us with "I'm 10! I'm 10!" She's the youngest in both families and I think getting to double figures makes her feel more grown-up! Her other GPs hadn't see the GDs over Christmas so both girls had lots of presents to open, including some super, really thoughtful presents from their Great-granny who is 94. All the present-opening was accompanied by OH and GD2 having a running battle with wrapping paper missiles, with Cooper getting his fair share of paper to shred. Both sets of neighbours were out, luckily as it was quite noisy!

The other granny had made a delicious GF chocolate Swiss roll covered in ganache, which GD2 loves. It was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. We didn't take Eva, as we knew it would be busy and both dogs love wrapping paper. We got back home about 4 o'clock and I took Eva out for a walk round the block. By then it was dark, raining and very windy. I think storm Gerrit has caught up with us.

Gem, are you enjoying your tv catch up? I hope OH's hearing aids have been reconnected to her phone (that is so useful) and tweaked. Is she pleased with them?

Oma, what a delight little Finn is - you must have been so pleased to see them. I read somewhere a 20 minute nap is the best length. How was MIL?

Plant, I've been thinking about you and wondering how your busy Christmas has been. I think you deserve a quiet day today, and if you don't feel like getting dressed that's ok. Your home, your rules. I'm sure you have had a great time with all the family, but it is tiring isn't it.

Nanto, did you get your pub lunch?

Our dinner is going to be leftovers again!

Daisy, sounds like a lovely day for your GD, more presents, more paper for the dogs to enjoy playing with. I have curry for dinner today, my son who is an amazing cook sent me some for my meal today, plus a crumble which I could easily do without. I have been fighting sleep all the afternoon.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Sounds like the girls had a lovely day , GD will remember the paper fight with GD I bet as she gets older , it’s these little things that make memories I find ❤️
I wonder what it is with dogs and paper ? Storm loves to open presents and play with paper😁

          Plant
A lovely curry is just what I could eat ,
We have just had toad in the hole , lovely but a curry would have gone down nicely too 😁

          Gem
What did you think of the Dr Who special ? I liked it but not as much as others. .
How did the hearing check go for S , is it all sorted ?

Grauntie, if i had my way ours would be down now.
Hubby likes them left until the 2nd January. Thats why we don't put them up until a few days before Christmas.

Daisy, hope GD had a lovely day.

Our decorations went up a week or so before Christmas and will come down on 2nd or 3rd January, after our usual NYE do.

I've always liked these few days between Christmas and New Year's Eve. It was great when our DSs were young and had all their new toys and games to play with, and when I was teaching it was a few days of respite from prep and marking. We've nothing planned for tomorrow, Friday or Saturday, apart from OH having a blood test on Friday, and although there is plenty I should/could be doing I'm ignoring it all and having a break.

If it's not too windy we'll take Eva to the paddock tomorrow for a good run and everything else will depend on the weather - there's always the log burner, a good book and maybe a little glass (or 2) of wine.

Daisy, i like the days between Christmas and New Year, they are more normal days.

Didn't get chance to catch up here yesterday, not long after getting home from our pub meal,we had visitors.
I think today will be a quiet day.

Dinner today is tomato sausage, mash, cabbage and carrots with onion gravy.

                      Good morning ladies.

I quite like these days too Nan2. All the work done and time to relax enjoy the Christmas lights, catch up on TV and reading and eat nice food

Daisy if your weather is anything like ours, your log burner , good book and wine will win through.
It's still quite stormy here but it has improved.

As I said above, we have plenty of spare days, but the weather isnt helping us do anything! Golf course closed so no golf for OH today. It's too wet, wild and soggy for walks, especially for me who still has to be quite cautious walking.

This evening I am going to DD1's to look after GS1 while she goes out with friends. OH and I are going to do some shopping today. Mainly for New Years Eve ( we are cooking this year) and a few fresh bits we need.

Quiet here but expecting GS1 and his two children, they are planning a walk in the woods behind us with GD2 and her partner. GD1 and her partner are not going back to London until Sat. It has been lovely having her here for so long.

Nanto, nice to get back to normal eating, sausages sound good. I have never had a tomato sausage.

Gemini, We seemed to have missed that storm, I hope things are back to normal for you apart from the golf. I gather you are hosting New Year.

Good Thursday afternoon. I'm very late to the party today!

Plant, thank goodness you're escaping the storm if some of your family are planning a walk in the woods. I know you will miss GD1 when they go back, but thank goodness for Face Time, etc.

Gem, sensible of you not to push your luck by going for a walk in stormy weather. Enjoy your evening with GS1 - I hope DD1 has a good time as well.

Nanto, it's amazing how often both of us have unexpected visitors - but it's lovely, isn't it. Dinner sounds just the job and like Plant, I still haven't tried tomato sausages.

I've had a busy morning, catching up with people - it's my Goddaughter's birthday, and we had a chat with OH's BIL whose wife (OH's eldest sister) is in hospital and rather poorly. Also had a chat with one of the NYE friends, and still need to catch up with both DSs.

But, although it's windy here it's been mainly dry and I've got a load of whites out on the line. Lots more washing to do - towels, bedding and general stuff. We've put the stacking beds back together, moved my keyboard back into my study and I run the sucky up thing round upstairs. Just going to get some lunch.

                            Afternoon ladies ,
                            Its never stopped here ,
Went to Sainsburys to get MILs cigarettes and milk then took them over ,
We then called into Morrisons for a few bits ,

Just got in and coat off when DD SIL and storm turned up.

Made lunch for us all and fed dog , they stayed a couple hours then
                            GS and Lucie turned up.
More tea making and cake cutting.
They have just left so first chance I have had to come on here ,

Its very dark and the rain is bouncing down .

it came very dark here about 1ish and rained.
The sun is back out now.
Its been a quieter day for us. We had a stroll to the post office this morning, mind you its only 2 short streets away.
Hubby been mending something for a neighbour, they were in the shed most of the morning.
I got the ironing done amongst other things.
Off to unload the dishwasher and then it will be cuppa time. We are having fruit cake with cheese on.

Not a lot to be honest but I like to iron the day I wash , it was all washed and dried by 7.30 this morning so now it’s out of the way.
