Spiders are given a chance in our house, either co-operate when a duster is thrown over them so that they can be put out or they might have to be dealt with.

Thinking of you Gemini, I hope you go down early.

Glam, I need to start thinking about Spring flowers, several tubs to fill. Pansies are so cheerful and I do like tulips. Need to get to a garden center to see what is on offer.

Glamm, It is a very good feeling when cars pass their test. At least you are seeing more of Oliver since Jim left.

Oma, well done for spotting the boot open on neighbours car, I wonder why the husband is so unfriendly must make it difficult for hie wife.

Nanto, Not very pleasant here so nothing will get done outside today. Well done to your OH in saving the spider, they are so harmless but very creepy.

My lovely cleaner came this morning, I overslept and she was in the drive phoning to let me know she was here at 9am. Must set my alarm next week. My windows are so lovely and clean. Next week I am going to get her to sort out and clean some kitchen cupboards. I am still busy making this Membrillo paste, almost there. I gave my lovely friend half of the quinces, she was very pleased. I don’t think I will repeat it next year if we get a bumper crop again, it is so time consuming and tiring.

Oh that is good news, she can sleep like a baby now.

Oma, in answer to your question it has to set like a jelly, mine is still warm and no sign of setting and I have made loads. I hope when it is cold it will be firm enough to cut into cubes. Apparently you can freeze it. Apparently it is eaten with cheese. For me it was just a way of using the quinces, I don’t think I will be making it again even if there is a bumper crop. I will put them on the village web site, I believe the quince are expensive to buy.

Hallo everyone, I certainly was lucky with the weather for my few days away, it is raining and blowing a gale at the moment!

Daisy, we can stay in our homes during the renovations, I heard from a friend that we will be "upside down" for a month, they have just finished the block that he lives in, we shall see, there is a coffee morning on Thursday for more information.

I went with a friend to a choir practise last night!!! The idea was to take him then pick him up after it had finished, he is 88 years old, starting with alzheimer, he loves to sing so I arranged it for him where I do the coffee, I was surprised how many were there, quite a few I know as well, the all asked if I was joining??? I told them no and why I was there, I did stay with him up to the coffee break then he decided to leave. He is well known in the village and a lot there to help him etc, but, I don't know if he will go, it is only a 5 minute walk, he insisted we went in his car, oh dear, it shouldn't be allowed! He cuts every corner, got angry when he couldn't find a place to park then when we left he had no idea at all where he was parked. To put me through it all again when he arrived home he realised he had forgotten his jacket, I did offer to walk back to pick it up, no, the dreadful car journey again. Then the hall was closed so I went this morning to pick the jacket up for him.

His wife is in a care home, 8 years ago she had open heart surgery and during surgery she had a cerebral infarction, she can use her left hand and talk, otherwise she is completely paralysed. Poor woman. He goes 3 times a week to visit to the home near Den Haag, how on earth he copes on the busy roads I do not know, my DS2 and his DS are best friends, I mentioned it to DS2 and how it was a wonder he didn't get lost, he said "oh he does mum, he has a GPS tracker and then one of the boys can go and get him home safely!!! I think it is dangerous! Otherwise he is such a nice man, I enjoy going for coffee and a chat.

Your friend certainly seems a danger on the roads, be careful what you offer to do for him Lizzie. I am very surprised he is allowed to still drive. You certainly were lucky with the weather for your holiday, it is quite Autumnal here.

The problem is that he will have had a medical at 85 years and the next one will be 90, what happens in-between just happens! I don't do much for him, I just arranged for him to go to the choir, he has friends and family, I hope they can see how he drives before something happens!

'll talk to you all tomorrow.
OH just gone from visiting me.
Consultant says I',ll probably go home tomorrow. Nurses say it's not up to him but depends what physio says! I haven't seen one yet so I'm sure I won't be ready to go home tomorrow.

Gem, I'm sure they will want you to get out of bed and moving (carefully) first, but lovely if you can go home tomorrow. There's nothing like your own bed. Sleep well. xxx

Lizzie, I'm glad the weather was ok for your holiday. It does sound as though your friend shouldn't be driving - it's a worry, isn't it. What a pity he didn't stay for the rest of the choir practice - singing is supposed to help those with Alzheimers. The poor man has got a lot on his plate with his wife as well. I hope his family will keep a close eye on his driving.

You must be relieved you haven't got to move out of your flat while the work is done. Are they installing a heat pump for your central heating?

Plant, the Membrillo sounds difficult, but I bet your house smells gorgeous! I've never tasted it, but I'm sure it would be lovely with a salty cheese like Cheshire. It looks as though you've found a lovely lady to help with the housework, even if it does mean getting up a bit earlier on 'her' days.

Nanto - congratulations on becoming published! Were you surprised to see your letter in print, or did they tell you beforehand?

Glamm, a nice feeling when your car passes its MOT. You feel quite proud of it somehow, don't you (well, I did when mine passed).

The weather has bee too wet and very windy to do anything outside today. I didn't take Eva out until tea time, and it was still drizzling then. OH and I tidied up part of the garage where we keep a little stash of tinned food and a few bottles of vino. I also tidied out some cleaning materials etc and put everything back neatly. It took longer than I expected, but quite a good job done. The rest of the garage is uncharted territory as far as I'm concerned. It's full of every screw, nail, nut bolt, screwdriver, paint tin etc and for all I know a couple of UFOs as well!

                                Good morning everyone.

I did get some sleep last night despite having to call them 3 times to use the commode!
I had to ask for more painkillers at just after midnight. They gave me morphine as well as the paracetamol and it did help.
BP etc all fine this morning.
Today I will see the physio for the first time.
OH is coming to see me this afternoon and DD and GS1 at 6. He's very anxious to see me apparently.

                                Have a good Wednesday ladies.
