Oma, oh bless his little face. I wonder what he's thinking! So good to see him looking well after being in hospital. I bet your GS and his friends will be having a few celebrations! GD1 breaks up Thursday lunch-time. We're hoping she can manage at least part of each day. GD2 also finishes on Thursday, but not sure when. Then it's 6 weeks of holidays. I'm sure they'll fly by but I don't know if parents feel the same!

Gem - we had a tuna mayo salad followed by a yoghurt. No cooking at all but it was an effort even to open the tin of tuna.

Just off now to have another go at scrubbing the floor where the washing machine goes. It's horrible. Ugh!

Tea sounds good Daisy, apart from tin opening effort

We have just come inside from a very pleasant hour in the garden. It took until 10pm for it to be cool enough to sit out!

Hot again, although we had a very quick shower about 6ish. It wasn't enough to do owt.

We are popping into town this morning. I want to go to the butchers and get a few other things.
Then, on our way home we are calling to see the new grandparents(nephews mum and dad) to drop something off.

Don't think we'll be doing much else with the predicted temperatures.

Oma, Fin looks so alert in the photo. You'd never think he'd been so poorly.

          Good morning all.

I think it's a good day to do very little Nan2.

We slept with fans running last night and it did help.

I am picking up GS1 from school this afternoon. He's not going to martial arts as the room will be like an oven.
OH isn't playing golf today so I have asked her to drive me to school. It's only about 10 to 15 minutes each way, but with 39% predicted at that time and my air con not working, it will be much more comfortable in OH's car.

          Keep cool everyone.

Good morning everyone, on this hot and sunny Tuesday!

The temperature stayed in the mid 20s all night last night, so it's already quite warm. We're still having plumbing nightmares! It should have been such a simple job. And OH opted to fit the new washing machine himself instead of letting them do it. He now needs a new connector for the water pipe (or a whole new pipe, I don't know!)

Back in a bit - its here now

We have just had breakfast in the garden, the temperature is quite bearable at the moment.

I suspect we will soon be indoors with fans running however.

Off to have my shower now.

I haven’t drawn the curtains yet as there is a little breeze so back door and sitting room french window open hoping for a through breeze. I found I had left a sitting room window open all night, no visitors thank goodness. Baby H got so hot yesterday, she didn’t stop running around so DD put her in a cool bath. Her daddy has her today, their flat is very warm, I hope he manages to keep her cool. I slept quite well with the fan in my bedroom. They are forecasting showers this evening in this area, I do hope they are right.

Gemini, not the sort of weather for Martial Arts, air conditioning is a must in this weather.

Daisy, poor J, running into difficulties with the plumbing, sometimes it is less stressful to let the experts do those jobs. I hope you get the washing machine up and running.

Oma, I am off to have a cool shower but going bra less isn’t an option, I would frighten the neighbours.

Oma - I hope it's cool in the hairdressers, but with hair dryers being used it must be difficult to keep the place cool. Still, at least you will have a nice new trim and that always makes us feel better! I need to get my hair cut, but haven't got round to it yet!

Gem - I think there will be lots of children not doing their usual after-school activities today, and with your area being on the 'red' list, you will be glad of S's air con in the car. I keep hoping to hear baby news, and thinking about how uncomfortable your DD3 must be. Perhaps we need a good thunderstorm - I remember a midwife telling me that that seems to send lots of mums into labour.

Nanto - the new grandparents must be so happy to have their first grandbaby.

Plant - it's so hard to get an active toddler like little H to slow down, no matter how hot it is. It must be hard in a flat to keep it cool. Do they have a balcony? Let's hope the showers this evening help to cool things down a bit for you.

OH has just gone out to get the new pipe or fitting for the washing machine. I felt sorry for the delivery men - they were already really hot. We gave them pints of orange juice with lots of ice which they downed in one!

OH has suggested we try the advice of closing all the windows and keeping curtains etc closed. I'm not convinced! We've been keeping curtains closed, but yesterday I opened the living room windows and the french doors at the back so we got a through draught and it stayed really cool in there. All the windows and doors in the house were open and most of the house was quite comfortable. We haven't got curtains or blinds in some rooms so I don't know how they will be.

Good morning, just the heat today then tomorrow cooler, or so they say! DS1 and family and living it up on the island! Beach and the sea all round. A lovely breeze to go with it all.

I am feeling a little better, just the eating, I did do a piece of chicken breast on Sunday and enjoyed that so I will give it a try today, that and the salads, I enjoy those. I have bought some green beans and will try them with the chicken.

I have to go to the hospital tomorrow in Rotterdam, I will go with the metro, showers forecast so they will cool me down.

Lizzie, cooler here tomorrow too, more average summer temperatures are forecast the rest of the week.
Just eat what you can fancy. I had to do that at first and gradually returned to more or less normal eating.

Plant cool showers are very necessary in this weather aren't they?

Daisy we are hoping DD won't go into labour today. Although she is suffering in this heat, to be in labour would be worse.
I think the general advice is that once the outside temperature is higher than inside you should close doors and windows and close curtains. We do that in our bedroom. When it's cooler in the evening we open windows and curtains.

I offered the Sainsbury's delivery man a cold drink yesterday, but he said they had supplied them with plenty of extra water.

Another scorcher here. Today my gardener was due but I rang her and told her not to come, far too hot and there’s nothing desperate that needs doing, she was quite relieved I think.

What I do is open all the windows and back door very early, this morning I was up at 5 to go to the bathroom, so opened everything up then. Then at about 10 I shut the windows and close the curtains. Otherwise it’s just hot air coming in. It’s quite pleasant in the lounge although I do have a big fan on too. Supposed to be cooler tomorrow fingers crossed.

Im being very lazy, do watering very early and very late and that’s about it. Roll on autumn, I really am not a summer person. Sorry all the summer lovers 🙂😎

Well, I'm trying the close the windows and keep the curtains closed idea. The living room is ok. It's like a furnace in the room where I have my computer, so I've just opened the windows and there's now a cool breeze coming in. The kitchen was pleasantly cool yesterday with the door open from morning to night. Today it's hot in there. No curtains or blinds and now the sun is streaming through the Velux windows! I'm keeping out of the other rooms. I seem to remember houses in the hottest parts of France open windows and close the shutters against the sun. I'm thoroughly confused!

Enfys - I'm sure your gardener was grateful for you consideration. It's sensible to be 'lazy' in this weather!
