Lizzie - that is such a shock, and you must feel awful being so far away. Sending hugs to you and your sister. xxx

thank you, for your thoughts, it is not good with her being so far away and with the cover restrictions. Plant, she doesn't remember ever being in touch with asbestos, we were brought up next to a joiners yard in the days that asbest was used. I have been in touch with it myself, when we first moved into the flat I removed the lino at the time, twice actually, they later discovered an aspest layer and now men in white suits have to remove it.!
I have just phoned her and in fact no one has yet confirmed it, they are 99% sure but have to wait for the biopsy.

I have just discovered a posting I didn't post. My sister went to the hospital yesterday and it wasn't good news, I had been trying to get in touch with her but couldn't, I sent my nephew a message and he replied that they had been to the hospital and it wasn't good news, he said that she would phone me later and she did. She said it was bad news, the cancer has spread and that she had expected to hear that. I had as well, I phoned her on Saturday and she was ill, it upset me. She did sound better yesterday, strange enough. Her eldest son lives in Alnwick and he was there yesterday and they have no idea how he will be able to travel with the lockdown.
The specialists have a meeting tomorrow and will let her know what they decide to do but they have told her that surgery is a no go and so is chemo.
She hasn't told our eldest brother yet, he is almost 82 years old and a worrier at the best of times, I asked if I had to tell his daughter and let her decide what to do, I got in touch and she will tell him when she goes either tomorrow or Friday.
I was reading yesterday something that Bruce Springsteen said, it was " As we get older death is a way of life', he couldn't have worded it better.

Lizzie, I'm so sorry to hear your sister's news. It's awful being so far away, let alone under the current restrictions. Sometimes knowing the worst can actually make you feel a bit better because you know what you're facing. How kind of you to offer to tell your oldest brother's daughter - she will be better breaking the news to him in person.
I think your nephew in Alnwick will be able to visit your sister on the grounds of her being vulnerable. I'm sure her husband will need some support, especially if they need to do multiple trips to the hospital as well as day-to-day things like shopping etc.
Sending hugs to you, Lizzie. It's painful having to stand on the sidelines when you are unable to help. xxx"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
