Those knit and natter groups are quite popular now aren't they? A friend of mine goes to one regularly.

I'd like to go to a Knit & Natter gp but find that if I'm following a pattern I can't knit & talk. The first thing I knit for GS1 when he was a baby, at mummy's request, was a balaclava. It was the only thing he couldn't pull off his head in winter.๐Ÿคฃ I generally get my wool from the local market, sometimes Wilko or Boyes.

I'm sure this is a silly question, but when you talk of where you get wool from, do you mean it's say lambs' wool, or is it just the yarn you choose for each project, so it could be cotton or a synthetic product?

I'm curious because I'm allergic to wool itself and if I'm going to have a go it would have to be some other kind of product.

I think people just mean knitting yarn of any type Daisy. That's my take on it anyway!

Gems right Daisy, itโ€™s just whatever you use. So much of it nowadays has no wool in it but I still say wool. The โ€œyarnโ€ I use the most is mainly acrylic sometimes with a little bit of polyester too but I still say wool! Must be showing my age ๐Ÿ˜€

Wool covers a multitude of sins Daisy! Calling it yarn doesn't sound quite right though. I've just finished a jumper knitted in cotton. The little jacket I'm working on at the moment is mostly acrylic with some wool in it.

I always say wool too but the last yarn I used was cashmere.....never again. The fibres went up my nose, in my eyes & covered my front. Glad to have finished, a neighbour gave me a bag of about 20 balls of the stuff. Think I'll ebay it as it's quite expensive to buy. Maybe she didn't like knitting with it either.๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜

Thank you ladies! I had visions of all of it literally being lamb's wool.

Nana, a friend gave me a big bag of mohair and that was awful to knit with. Fluff went everywhere! I gave it to the charity shop in the end, it was a lovely colour too.

I have started a new project which I am really enjoying, knitting socks. Iโ€™d inherited all my mothers old knitting needles so I unearthed her double pointed ones and, to my surprise, am actually knitting a sock on them! Itโ€™s a bit like fighting with a hedgehog but otherwise really good.

There is a brilliant pattern and Facebook group that I have joined and there is so much help and support in there, great fun to just pop in and chat too.

I must say say that during this awful year we have had, my crochet and knitting have helped to keep me sane and stop me thinking about all the awful stuff, even just for a little while. So I will continue with it and would recommend any sort of crafting to anyone struggling to cope.

Watch this space for more sock news......fingers crossed the hedgehogs ๐Ÿฆ” donโ€™t get the better of me ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

My mum has told me about knitting socks on 4 needles Enfys.
As one who can't knit with two needles, that sounds complicated!!

It is lovely that you have something which absorbs you and helps you. We look forward to the sock pics!

I have knitted gloves in the distant past Enfys and my Mil used to knit socks, I have her double pointed needles. I am knitting a pullover for my GGS, having a real problem with the neck, he is growing so fast I hope it will fit him when I have finished it. Good luck with the hedgehog.

Good luck with the hedgehogs Enfys!
Iโ€™ve tried a bit of knitting in the round ,not too successfully as Iโ€™ve always given up too soon I think.I must also have another go at 4 needles some time.
I have been knitting loads of squares to make a blanket for GD to take to Uni in a couple of years as itโ€™ll take me that long to sew it all together
