What a relief for her Gemini, will she be able to continue breast feeding now, I do hope so. You must be feeling relieved too, especially as you are going away.

Gem - that is such good news - for all of you. At least now you can go on holiday and not be so worried about her. I know you'll still worry a little bit, but at least that awful infection is clearing up. Good news indeed. xxx

              Thanks everyone.

Plant, I'm not sure about the breastfeeding. They are not sure feeding from the infected breast will be possible now, and DD is so afraid of mastitis recurring.

DD and SIL popped to the village pub for a drink in the garden today, minus baby! His Grandpa looked after him I'm so glad to see DD, and SIL, getting some life back.

It's taken a while Gem, but at last things seem to be improving for DD3. xx

Gem, thanks goodness it sounds as though your DD and SIL are getting out and even having a little break on their own. xx

DD is at the breast clinic today, a follow up appointment. Hopefully they will be happy with the progress and reassure DD that what has happened is meant to happen!

                      Just to update.

From the breast clinic yesterday DD was sent for an operation.

After seeing several people she saw the senior consultant who said the breast was filled with old milk and pus ( sorry!) The drainage of this was making the small holes in the nipple bigger ( which DD had been saying) Also the skin was in danger of breaking down, so it was fairly urgent.
I was told this just before setting off for the airport.

Very worrying as you can imagine.

Anyway , the surgery went well and was apparently less invasive than they predicted.
She has a drain in place.
They were hoping she would be able to go home today.
SIL will have managed fine with the baby all night, but DD was really missing him. Hard to be parted from your 5 week old baby.

Let's hope her recovery goes smoothly and things move forward more easily for them all.

I hope this will be the end of the breast milk problem for your DD. You must have been very worried.

Gem - I wonder why they didn't realise the nipple holes were getting bigger, especially as your DD could tell. Still, at least now, hopefully, she will feel better in herself and the pain will go. It must have been awful having to spend the night in hospital without little E - thank goodness E's daddy is a 'natural'.

The best thing you can do now is relax and enjoy this holiday - you've been looking forward to it and your DD would be upset if she thought it had been spoiled. xx
