The GPO (General Post Office) introduced TIM - the automated speaking clock using the voice of Miss Ethel Cain - a telephonist at the GPO's Victoria telephone exchange in London.

Oma, I didn't know TIM still existed. Is it still free?
Have you noticed we still say "dial" a number, even though we're probably the last generation to have actually used a dial phone.
