Oma, I always hope they will help with my spelling - but sometimes it's the opposite. I can't solve a clue because I've spelled the crossing words wrongly.

I think it's since been developed into a theme park and hotel by the current owners. I've no idea what it's like, though.

I often have trouble with vowels, eg the other day I typed the word "rediculous" and really couldn't understand why it got red lined!

When I was teaching I always used to tell my students about my spelling problem, and asked them to tell me if I put misspellings on the board!

                1605

Guy Fawkes, born in York, was arrested when around 30 barrels of gunpowder, camouflaged with coal, were discovered in the cellar under Parliament.
Robert Catesby’s small band of Catholic zealots who planned to blow up James I and Parliament were only arrested after Fawkes revealed their names when tortured on the rack.
Conspirators met at the Old Lion Inn, Dunchurch, Warwickshire on 5th November to await news of the destruction of Westminster.

I started watching Fawkes last night but it was very slow and didn’t catch my imagination,
I went on line and read about all the men involved ,
Some have relatives living today but not Guy Fawkes ,
They suffered unimaginable torture, barbaric but the methods of the times.
