The opening of Britain’s first Women’s Institute, (regularly referred to as simply the WI) at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch, Anglesey, Wales.
Its two aims were to revitalise rural communities and to encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War.

It's very amusing to hear some of the satnav attempts at place names.
The York street Goodramgate ( pronounced Good -Rum- Gate) is Good- Ram-Gt according to the satnav .

In the days of one channel, black and white tv, that was required viewing!

BBC Television for schools began.
