Oma - it's because they were magic shoes. They had to grow to be bigger so they fell off when she ran away through the shrubbery in the palace gardens, and so they missed the evil moment when Cinder's beautiful ball gown turned to tatters.

But because they'd been left out in the garden all night they got wet with dew and shrunk back to fit Cinder's little tootsies perfectly. And everyone lived happily ever after, except the dress hire company who were very cross about how tatty Cinder's ball gown was!
