Good morning everyone.
I hope you are all escaping the worst of the storm. We had a very wet night, but that's it.
A nice surprise visit from your GD Lizzie
Daisy, I hope you have no repercussions after getting so wet Daisy.
GS1 is due here for the day, although its never a given with him! GS2 from school this afternoon. DD3 would have come today for the weekend but I think she rightly guessed with the boys around it won't be that peaceful!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Morning ladies
Daisy
I hope you dried out and put your feet up,
Storm is getting a bit funny about the rain,
If it's a long walk he's fine but going in the garden, like Eva he's not fussed.
Nanto
We had heavy rain during the night and early this morning, but despite it all our street still has ice patches.
Hope your hubby's friend isn't snowed in.
Gem
Did S get to play golf yesterday?
GS1 Is at that unpredictable age , one minute they are happy to come then the next they change their minds.
Lizzie
Good luck to your GD , once her exams are over in May
Just as well you were at home otherwise it would have been a long walk for nothing 😁
I've already been to see DD , she's feeling and looking a lot better but still working 🙄
We then went down to Lidl for fresh bread rolls and B fancies leeks for tea,
Not sure what with yet.
Off to Martin's this afternoon take Finn's Christmas presents,
At least we only getting the rain not the snow and gales like some poor people ,
We watched the news last night it's horrendous in some parts isn't it.Im not fat just 6ft too small

A rather late good morning everyone.
Nanto, what a lovely cheerful message and picture this morning. Flowers always make me feel happier, even online. I'm glad. you escaped the worst of the weather.
Lizzie, your GDs are such lovely thoughtful girls, and I'm sure you were delighted to see GD2 yesterday. How far did she have to walk? Congratulations to her on being accepted at college. I'm sure she will work hard and pass her exams in May. You must be very proud of both of them.
Gem, I hope GS1 decided to come to you. Perhaps it's an incentive going to pick his cousin up in the afternoon. I think your DD3 has made a wise choice, resting at home today. How is she? I don't mind getting wet on walks - it often happens. I just make sure I have a warm drink and change out of wet or damp clothes.
Oma, you must be relieved that y our DD is looking and feeling a bit better, even though she's still working. I hope your SIL doesn't catch it as well. I'm sure Finn will give you a great welcome, with or without his Christmas presents. I'm wondering what you will have with leeks for your teas? OH sometimes persuades me to make a leek dish. Two or 4 hardboiled eggs, halved and put in a lightly greased casserole dish. Boil and mash potatoes with the cooked leeks (I add them to the potato saucepan) and cover the eggs. You can smooth the potato/leek mix out or leave it rough. Pour cheese sauce over it and pop under the grill for a couple of minutes.
We seem to have escaped the bad weather, despite all the warnings that we wouldn't. It's dull but dry today, but we're likely to get frost overnight.
We made an early start (for us) today, and Sainsbury's came early - it's a good job we were up! So I've spent most of the morning giving the fridge a really good clean, sorting out the fruit bowl and the vegetable rack. I'm hoping OH will come for a walk with Eva and me this afternoon. I think the fresh air and some exercise will do him good.

Daisy, it will be 6km walking, the girls often do it though.
I have just read that the storm they said we would get has passed over the north of the country and missed us, we could get snow this evening but nothing like was forecast, well keen frost over the weekend.
You mentioned your Sainsburys delivery, DS1 said they had a delivery yesterday morning , with there being so much snow the poor man parked half on the grass verge, the wheels sunk in, almost 3 hours later a rescue truck arrived to pull him out!

Daisy, I expect the fresh air will do your OH good.
Oma,I hope Finn likes his presents.
OH did play golf yesterday and played well. She likes playing on frozen ground!
Oh dear, poor delivery driver Lizzie!
We have certainly escaped the bulk of the storm where we are. Some more heavy rain on the drive over for GS2, but nothing too bad at all really.
GS1 has been here all day. We have watched Jurassic World and he has shown me several You Tube tornado videos!
Both boys are chatting and watching TV, time for me to make their tea!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gemini, pleased to hear you had some me time with GS1.
Daisy, did you get your OH to join you on your walk with Eva
Oma, pleased to read your DD seems to have turned the corner, so many people have viruses.
I have a water infection, not feeling great. I managed to get a doctors appt. And now have some tablets. Harriet came home from school with the class teddy, it is her 5th birthday on Sunday and she is having a party, I think most of her class are going. My spare bedroom is full of party food and party bags. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

GS arrived just on 12 hungry as usual😁
So he was fed and watered and left happy at 2 pm
We then went to Martin's ,
Spent a lovely few hours with them and Finn , we have just got back.
He had a bit of a grump when we were leaving , he wanted us to stay till Sunday,
I had to tell him our house would be sad if we didn't go home tonight 😁
He was very excited to get another big bag of Christmas presents,
Clare wasn't home when we got there she was about 15 minutes behind us ,
He was very good he waited till mummy was in before he opened them,
We did let him open a little on that had a hot wheels car in before she came home though 😁
It's raining hard we had to crawl along coming home the windscreen wipers couldn't keep up ,
B has decided he fancies Bacon and leeks for tea , I did suggest leek and potato soup but he didn't fancy that.
He would like your recipe Daisy but the cheese sauce would put me off .
Plant
Oh poor you , I'm pleased you got to see the Dr and get meds straight away,
Can't believe H is 5 already
Gem
I bet you had to be very enthusiastic about the tornado videos 😁
It's nice when the cousins can be together isn't it.

Plant, hope you feel better soon.
H is 5 already,doesn't time fly.
Oma, glad Finn liked his presents.
Gem, sounds like a lovely day was had with the boys.
Daisy, did OH have a walk with you?
Speaking of time flying, i read an article in a magazine last night.
It was about when Shanon Mathews was supposedly missing, and it was 17 years ago.
Hubby's pal couldn't make it this morning. Not because of the weather but due to family matters.
So, hubby was climbing the walls, because he had nothing to do.
He spent about ½ an hour on the computer, then watched tv for ½ an hour, till he couldn't stand being bored any longer.
We ended up having a walk to Farmfoods, for some sweet stuff, that passed ¾ of an hour for him.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

You were lucky to escape the worst of the storm. Six k in the bad weather is quite a long way, but your GDs are. young and fit, so I suppose it doesn't take them too long. The poor delivery driver getting stuck on the grass verge. I bet there were a lot of customers waiting for their orders.
Gem, you are now officially the GRU expert on tornados. It's lovely that the two boys get on well together. Thank goodness your drive over to meet GS2 wasn't too bad, despite the rain.
Plant, I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling very well. I hope the tablets get to work quickly. I know we always say this, but it's hard to believe H is 5! Was she pleased to have the class teddy for her birthday week-end? I remember both GDs having the class toy - a really ugly rag doll! I can't say it filled any of the grown ups with joy, and we felt there was a certain amount of pressure to do something "interesting" with it. GD1's was a particularly difficult week-end, and DIL ended up taking the doll and GD1 round the town showing it local landmarks! GD2 was much luckier as by chance they were going to Poultons Park that week-end. But there were parents who wizzed child and doll off to places like London or Bath. I think one even flew to the Channel Islands.
Oma, bacon and leeks sounds good to me! What a lovely day - GS1 at lunch time and the afternoon with Finn opening his Christmas presents. He sounds such a lovely little boy, and he did well to wait until mummy got home before he started opening everything. It sounds as though you've had really heavy rain.
Nanto, your poor hubby. He does like to keep busy, doesn't he. Still, he got a walk and you got some tasty goodies as well. I remember hearing and reading about the Shannon Matthews case with utter disbelief and horror. I didn't realise how long ago it was though.
My OH wasn't feeling so well today and by the time I was taking Eva out he was too tired. It was also very cold, so not ideal for him. I'd forgotten how much rain we've had in the last couple of days and let Eva take me down a path which gets muddy very quickly. I was wishing I'd put my walking boots on instead of trainers. It started to rain before we got home, and it felt icy cold. I don't seem to have done much today, but the jobs will wait - unfortunately.

Morning ladies
Nanto
Enjoy your trip into town,
We went to farm foods for ice cream sandwiches and Cornetto's well farm foods brand ,
We like the ice-cream sandwiches the vanilla and the Neapolitan ones , 4 for a £1 , they quite large and tasty.
Daisy
I hope J is feeling better this morning,
This bug seems to be taking people a long time to recover from doesn't it.
Have you now got to clean very muddy trainers today?
Plant
How are you feeling today?
Will you be going in to H's birthday party?
I remember the noise of little ones parties 😁
Gem
Is DD coming to stay today?
I've done what needs doing then I'm going to sort the sideboard cupboards out in the dinning room ,
I have lots of stuff I'm going to give away on FB market place Plates glassware etc
If no one wants them they will go to charity.
B going to make a start on the new wardrobe well the bits he can do himself ,
My nephew Is calling in today ,
B's DS2 bought a big piece of beef at half price so she wants me to vacuum seal it , she's cut it into 3 joints
Then she can get it in the freezer.
Not sure what time he is coming but we are not going out so no worries.Im not fat just 6ft too small

Good morning everyone.
Plant I'm sorry to hear you have a water infection and hopefully the treatment works soon.
Daisy, I hope your OH feels better today.
I think these flu bugs drag on, and it's easy to become exhausted.
Oma I quite like the sound of that leeks dish. OH is very fond of leeks so I may try it.
DD3 is coming today. SIL will be bringing her, so he and little E will stay a while. She is quite anxious and down, I hope being here helps. She can get plenty of rest at least. DD1 will call in to see her sister here today. DDs 1, 2 and I had a good chat about the situation in the kitchen while the boys were with OH in the living room.
Wet here today with frost this morning.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good Saturday morning, everyone.
Nanto, enjoy your trip into town, and hopefully meeting up with DS2. Is it very cold?
Oma, it will be nice to get started on the new wardrobe. I find IKEA flatpack instructions impossible to understand, but I'm sure B will get them sorted. I think we all have things in our cupboards and drawers that we no long use or need. It makes sense to pass them on to someone who has a use for them. It makes sense to cut a large joint into useable sizes. Your vacuum sealing thingy sounds useful.
Plant, I hope you're feeling better today. Stay warm and rest. xx
Gem, I'm sure it helps that DD3's sisters and you are all pulling together to help her through this rough patch. It's good DD1 can come and visit her today. It will take her mind off things for a while. I hope the frost didn't linger too long.
We had frost overnight as well, but the sun is out now, and is quite pleasant from indoors. I haven't stepped outside yet but don't suppose it's that warm. No plans for us today. OH has only just got up and I'm not feeling very energetic. I've got a large piece of gammon that needs cooking, so I'm going to slow roast it now. DS2 cooks gammon regularly as they all love it, and he uses pineapple juice which he says gives it a lovely flavour. I'll try it and see how it goes.
