    Morning ladies

    Gem
I can imagine why people are put off ,
By that time on a cold winters day you just want to be in the warm and snuggled up don't you,
I read on FB our wildlife centre ponds were all frozen,
they have something that thaws several places without disturbing the fish ,
It looked like a Christmas card scene that you expect children to be skating on .

I think sitting wasn't a good idea either , you would end up with a numb bum 😁

    WG
    How is your eye today?
B woke a few months ago with a blood shot eye that got worse as the day went on ,
He looked like something from a horror movie,
After going to the eye infirmary it turned out to be a burst blood vessel, most likely caused when he sneezed during the night,
He did have a cold at the time,

    Daisy
It doesn't matter how many layers you had on as long as you kept warm.
I'm sure Eva didn't mind with her coat on,
Plus coming home to a cuppa and chocky biscuits makes it worth while ,
A good excuse you need the sugar for a energy boost 😁

    Nanto
We like corned beef and onion pie but with a crust base and top,
I like home made corned beef pastries too.

    Plant
Don't venture out , it's far too cold and if your track is anything like our side roads , it's not worth the risk,
Stay in where it's nice and cosy xxx

We are off to IKEA this morning to pick a wardrobe for the spare room , SIL will pick it up in the van on Wednesday for us as he has a day off then,
It's still very white out but the main roads look clear,

Bs DS2 went to take the dog to have its nails clipped yesterday,
The car skidded twice before they got to the end of their road so they cancelled and went back home.

Eye seems a bit better this morning but still a bit weepy. Thankfully the swelling and redness have both gone down, so hopefully the drops are doing their job. DS wondered if my eyes were more sensitive after my cataract surgery. I never had eye infections before, so maybe he’s right. Thanks for all your messages x
I can’t quite believe my DD, she went swimming in the lake this morning, water temperature 2.1 and air temperature-3!!
Rather her than me is all I can say!
Going to get the wood burner cleaned out and lit later. It really warmed up my cold kitchen/diner when I had it on the other day.
Hope everyone has a good day and manages to keep warm!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

        Good Sun day afternoon everyone.

Nanto, your corned beef pies always sound delicious comfort food. I did corned beef stuffed baked potatoes recently, and we both enjoyed them.

Gem, your walk sounds lovely, but no wonder you didn't sit on any of the benches. I can understand people not being keen to go to the deep water aqua class on a cold Sunday tea time. But I'm sure you will be glad if you make the effort. I hope OH's golf partner's shoulder is soon better, but playing in these temperatures can't be much fun anyway.

WeeGranny, thank goodness your eye is a bit better. The drops must be doing their job. I think your eyes can get drier after cataract surgery. I remember being told to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate by my Consultant, and I put Optrex moisturising drops in twice a day without fail. I do think that helps. Oh my goodness, your DD must be very brave getting into water as cold as that! Is it something she does regularly? I know people who do go wild swimming say it's very invigorating and I wish I was brave enough! How long did she stay in the water for? Enjoy your cosy day with your wood burner. It's such a lovely, relaxing warmth, isn't it. I love ours.

Oma, did B's eye heal up on its own, or did he have to have treatment on it? It must have been quite scary - for both of you. Our little pond is frozen solid. I've broken a small area of ice just in case there's anything in there that needs some open water, but it will soon freeze over again. We don't have fish, so do't have to worry about them. I hope you've found just the right wardrobe for your spare room. I'm sure B was looking forward to the outing to his favourite store. . Keeping off the icy roads is sensible unless a journey is absolutely vital. I'm sure the dog didn't mind not having his nails clipped. You'd have to sedate Eva to do that!

Plant, you must be very fed up not being able to get out, but it isn't worth the risk, and the snow will go soon. Does H go back to school tomorrow?

It's not quite so cold here - currently 3C and sunny, and forecast to be -1/-2C overnight. We were very late waking up this morning - nearly 10 am - so it was a late breakfast and I'm just going to heat up some soup for lunch. I made roasted vegetable soup yesterday and it was very nice. I've made lots of different sorts of ordinary vegetable soup, but never roast veggies before. It was easier and quicker than I expected and very tasty.

Hallo everyone, it seems to have snowed all day long, they are warning of the roads tomorrow when life gets back to normal.

I did put my strong boots on yesterday and walked to the village, a much colder wind today so I haven't bothered.

A lady has just been for some (new) fur lined boots I put on the village free site, she was very pleased with them.

I went down to the neighbours for coffee for her birthday, it was very busy yesterday so I said I would go today.

WG a friend of mine goes in the local lake swimming every morning! She was the girls swimming instructor, now into flower arranging.

Bs eye healed itself with the help of drops , but they did say it could happen again and it's quite a common thing,

We chose a wardrobe, just a small 3 door one , not expensive as it's only for Christmas storage ,
I got my napkins while we were there , saves dragging B again in a few weeks 😁

We are thinking of changing a few things in our kitchen/ dinning room,
Move a few things around to make room for a fridge freezer.
I currently have under bench ones and to be honest I'm struggling sometimes when my hip plays up. Bending down to get in the fridge,

I'm watching Blue planet with David Attenborough at the moment , it always fascinating,

Lizzie, that looks very chilly. It's a large village, and it's nice to see where you live. Thank you

Oma, your new wardrobe sounds ideal. I think it's tempting to get the largest piece of furniture you can fit in, but it only encourages us (me, for sure) to hoard stuff we do't really need. You'll find a larger fridge/freezer much easier to use. I'd find it hard to cope with an under the counter fridge now, our tall fridge is much easier. We're lucky we've got room for a separate fridge and freezer in the kitchen.

Nanto, I agree. WeeGranny's DD is very brave.

Good morning, I still call it a village Daisy, but, it is more of a small town now, the photo is just the part where I live, there are so many new area's!!

Oma, you do right to get a new fridge, I was at the lady downstairs yesterday, she is very basic and still has her gas plate on a low fridge, it seems to work for her though.

We have just had another heavy snow shower. I have said I won't be doing the coffee this morning. In fact they are warning people to stay home if it isn't important!

We finally got a bit of snow just after 9 last night.
It didn't snow for long but it's still here.

No plans for us today, apart from having a parcel to post.

                        Stay safe and warm ladies.

                          Morning ladies

It snowed heavy again during the night ,
I have parcels coming this morning so not going anywhere,

                          Lizzie
Best to stay in when it's like that , not. Worth taking the chance in case you fall .

                          Nanto
Your post office is very near isn't it?

DD has comedown with this horrible flu bug , she feels awful , luckily SIL is off today and GS is home so she has them to look after her,

My Sisters husband had his first cataract removed on Wednesday,
I was talking to him last night, he can't believe the difference it's made , he's hoping to get the other eye done in a couple of weeks.

                            Good morning everyone

Nan2, a very light snow covering here last night too.

                            Poor DD Oma

                            Keep warm Lizzie!

I have never made roast vegetable soup Daisy (because I'm lazy and like to just bung it all in the soup maker and press a button ) I had some at DD3s once though and it was delicious.

I have had a burst blood vessel in my eye a couple of times. It felt hot and sore for a while but healed itself.

I enjoyed the deep water aqua class yesterday and feel I am getting better at it at last. We are so hot after that class we don't feel the cold coming out! It was 0 degrees when I got to my car but I didn't feel cold,
Back at the pool this morning for regular aqua class. Coffee with my friends after. This afternoon we are going to DD1's to help her dismantle the big trampoline to be collected for scrap tomorrow. Not the weather to be doing an outside job. Heaven knows why she arranged the collection for this week!!!!!
We will need a warm cuppa from her afterwards.

Daisy, in the summer I often make roast tomato soup with garlic, delicious! Today I have pumpkin soup, the lady that came for the boots has an allotment and brought me a tray of their produce! Handy for this weather when I can't get out and about! I have just been to the Lidl though, not far, the snow is deep, walking went fine, only the road I have to cross, like an ice rink!

I love homemade soup I have a portion of sweet potato and red pepper left for my lunch today.
Glad you survived the Lidl trip Lizzie!
