It's been one of those days when I haven't had a chance to sit down at the computer to say "hello". I'm trying to grab a few minutes while OH is making dinner.

Eva's trip to the vets went well. She checked heart, teeth, ears etc, and all good. (Chef calling for hlep - I'll be back later!)

Daisy, glad the vet chechup went well.
You were the chefs assistant tonight then.

Plant, hope H is better soon.

Gem, little E sounds such a happy little chap.

We had a good couple of hours at the pub. We all enjoyed it.

I have to report - chef did very well - pork chops cooked in the oven with onions, apples and topped with grated cheese.

Oma, sorry we were at the vets when you texted. A big thank you. We've caught up now. xx. I'm sure your MIL is glad to be home, but it's a pity she doesn't show it! I bet Storm is loving this cold weather. Is the snow sticking?

Nanto, I hope you enjoyed the pub and the quiz. Did you win a prize? You were lucky to miss the snow.

Gem, little E always enjoys whatever he does when he's with you. I hope the plans for his op are still in place, and I'm sure the whole family will breathe a sigh of relief when it's over and he's safely back home. It's perhaps as well there was no golf today, but the paracetamol and rest seem to have made S feel better. I hope she will get a good night's sleep and feel fine tomorrow. You certainly had a busy day. I hope you were cooking something easy.

Plant, poor little H. Ear infections are horrible. We've had the same weather, and we spent some time in the garden protecting the last few tender plants from Jack Frost. Did your gardener get the jobs done that you wanted?

Eva was so excited to be back at dog training. There were only 3 other dogs there, and all relative newcomers so she was very good and ignored them. She was so tired though, and slept all evening and all night. She didn't even pester for a walk this afternoon, although I did take her round the block. It was too cold to go further, even though we were both well wrapped up.

DIL1's new member of the family is a Border Collie cross. She's a rescue and after thinking about it they decided not to change her name, which is Daisy!!! She's a gorgeous dog, but is very lively, and thinks that if anything edible is within her reach it's hers! Last week she sneaked a bowl of raita off the work surface, in full view but so stealthily nobody noticed. Yesterday she helped herself to a bowl of uncooked rice, smashing the bowl in the process. She's a demolition expert as far as toys are concerned, but was giddy with excitement at the snow they had yesterday.

          Good morning. Cold again.

          Daisy, yesterday's dinner sounded nice.
DIL's dog is a lovely colour.
No, we didn't win a prize but we enjoyed taking part.

Only plans for us today is hubby meeting his pal.
He'll be out for a couple of hours
I'll be indoors where its warm.

Good morning, Daisy, I can't expect everyone to keep the lipoedema in their minds.

It is very cold this morning, at least dry after a lot of rain and sleet yesterday.

DS1 phoned last night, they had been to the college at Rotterdam airport with GD2, she is signed in, she can always change her mind, DS1 and DIL were impressed, so was GD2, it isn't only the training for stewardesses, a lot more included. It is strange thinking of the "baby" of the family going to college.

I have to be at the doctor art 9-30, I woke in the night and could hardly breath! I thought it was the end!! I could have dialled 999, in fact the assistant said I should have done.

I had the airway infection in the spring and it never seems to have fully recovered. Now I am on the look out for a new duvet, the one I have is full feathers, that could be causing it.

Daisy, I know the feeling about the dog "stealing food". I could write a book about what mine did!!!

              Morning ladies

Lizzie feathers are notorious for causing problems for people with any kind of airway problems,
We can't have them as it sets Bs asthma off,

How exciting for your GD I hope she enjoys it

              Daisy
What a gorgeous little girl Daisy is, with those eyes you can forgive anything,
My niece had a border Collie, very energetic dogs and their minds race ten to the dozen don't they,
              Always into something 😁

Eva must have been worn out to sleep that long , I'm sure her short walk was enough.

J is doing a fine job of cooking isn't he , he needs a gold star chart 😁

              Nanto
I don't blame you staying in today,
Nice to hear you had a good time yesterday even though you didn't win anything.

              Plant
Poor H I hope she slept last night and is feeling better ,
It always seems worse at night with little ones , hopefully it passes quickly.

              Gem
When is E going into hospital,
Does he talk about it ?
I can imagine him giving your friend a tour of the bed 😄
              How is S this morning?

Snow has gone and it's quite bright but very cold,
We have Storm today , I'm not leaving the door open for him it's too cold so I will be up and down like a yo-yo today.

We are taking GS&Lucie out for a meal tonight ,
              It's a Indian buffet,
We used to go a lot but they had a huge fire and they were shut for almost 2 years,
It opened again last weekend all shiny and new.

                Good Friday morning everyone.

Nanto, it certainly is chilly. That hot drink looks very inviting. You're wise to stay in the warm today. The pork chop recipe is quite tasty, and a change from ordinary pork chops.

Lizzie, I'm sure GD2 will love her course, but as you say, the baby of the family going to college is a bit of a milestone. I'm so sorry to hear you were poorly in the night, and hope everything gets sorted out today. I agree about the feather duvet and I'd definitely change it if I were you. I think it's very hard to stop a dog who's natural thief from stealing food, and BCs are known for being able to outsmart most people.

Oma, Storm will want to be in the garden as much as possible, I bet. He'll certainly keep you busy today. Enjoy your night out with GS and Lucie tonight. The restaurant must be so pleased to be opening again. I hope MIL is ok, especially with this cold weather. Does she keep her house warm enough?

                  Good morning everyone.

Still no internet , and for some reason we haven't been able to connect to next door's since yesterday. So, no laptop and we are concerned about using all our 4G on our phones.
I will make a thread about our connection woes once we have a connection of some sort.
Open Reach are nearby, but to quote ' we only dig the holes. Someone else should be along within 3 days to repair the cable'
I think we will be switching over from Sky soon. As I say, more threads on these topics when I can.

Nan2 it's nice to win a quiz but I agree with you it's the fun of taking part that matters.

Lizzie, how scary that must have been, especially when you live alone. I hope you are ok now .

Daisy but that dog looks so innocent!!
Well done to super chef Mr Daisy

Oma you both deserve a meal out,I hope you have a lovely time.

OH feeling fine thank you. So different to the first one 3 months ago.

I cancelled this morning's aqua class as I decided going out in the cold once a day is enough! I am booked in for Sunday's deep water class again.
GS2 from school this afternoon. His school playground seems to have a microclimate of its own. It is always SO much colder than anywhere else. I am going to dig out my nice warm duvet coat for this afternoon!

Well a change of plans today
SIL forgot to drop the dog off,
We waited till 9.30 then I rang DD. She said she didn't realise he was still in the garden and not to bother today ,
She usually reminds SIL before he leaves but she was on a Zoom meeting when he left.

So a free day we didn't expect.

                    Daisy
MIL thankfully keeps her heating on,
She had a new large radiator fitted in the sitting room on Wednesday by the housing, SIL went up so they could get in and fit it ,
It is really warm now although her bathroom is like a fridge. I think she needs a new one in there also.

                    Gem
Pleased to hear S is feeling ok fingers crossed it continues,
Get your big coat out , some of these school yards seem to be like wind traps and are very cold when your standing around.
I remember GS 2 's school yard was like that,
It was on a hill and very exposed.

I have been to the doctor, she can't hear anything from my lungs, BP etc all very good, she did say that I have to phone the HPP next time anything like that happens, that is part of the hospital, all the local doctors run it during the times that the practises are closed, it is a very good idea, when there is no need for an ambulance one of the doctors on duty will turn out, like the doctors used to do! I must remember that if it happens again. It really was scary Gem. I have had bloods taken and have to go for my lungs X rayed, I could have gone this afternoon, I maybe should have as it is lovely and sunny, only with not sleeping well I didn't think it was a good idea.

She agreed it could be made worse by the duvet so I have ordered a new one, it should be here in a few days. The other one has never been the problem, with having that infection in May most things affect me, the slightest whiff of perfume, washing liquid etc sets me off. Some (young) ladies like to get their perfume on to go to the gym, walking past them leaves me breathless! That is usually only on a weekend though.

Gem, it will be cold if you are out in the cold, it is cold here but at least dry and sunny today. I hope S continues to feel better. What a carry on with the internet Gem, we can't be without it can we???

                      Oma, fancy forgetting Storm!

Daisy, Eva would enjoy the class, you would enjoy going as well.

Had to go to get my hearing aids sorted, GD1 took me as my DD was busy. We had a very poor lunch out and now we are both searching for Christmas presents ideas. Quite pleasant weather earlier but very cold now. H back to school, she had yesterday off as she had an ear infection, I would have kept her off today also but she likes her school. Baby has chest infection and his daddy is not well. I thought frosty weather was supposed to kill off bugs.

Oma, I hope your Mil cheers up,she seems to like it in hospital and then takes it out on the family. Enjoy your meal out.

Gemini, pleased to hear that S hasn’t had a reaction to the treatment this time. When is little E’s op? Wrap up warm when you have to do the school trip.

Daisy I am sure Eva loved being back with her doggie friends. Your OH is doing very well rustling up those delicious meals.

We now have a dug up pavement in front of our house meaning people have to cross over or walk on the road! As we live on bend this is not ideal. We can only presume the engineers will be back tomorrow. Still no Sky but we are again logged into next doors internet.

Little E's operation is on Wednesday Plant. I will go over to see him on Thursday.
I hope your poorly family members are well soon.

I'm glad the Dr found things ok with you Lizzie and hopefully the bloods and xray will be fine too.

I wore my duvet coat, warm shoes and gloves to collect GS2 and was toasty warm

Poor E but they get over things quickly and if she is happier at school she will be fine.
Poor baby also, chest infections at that age are horrible they can't tell you how they are feeling can they.

                            Gem
They might finally sort it out, you should get compensation for it being off all this time
I bet you were pleased you had your lovely toasty coat today😁

We had a lovely meal with GS and Lucie , they were stuffed when we came out.
Luckily the car park is right next to the restaurant as it's freezing out there and that sleeting rain that stings your face.

Gem, how frustrating your internet isn't fixed. I remember the aggro we had before we got fibre to the property nearly 3 years ago now! It was incredibly frustrating, and you end up prioritising what you use it for. Thank goodness you are able to log into next door's again. I'm sure little E will take next Wednesday in his stride, while all the grown-ups are anxious and on edge, which is only natural. I bet he'll be delighted to see you on Thursday and will tell you all about it. I've often wondered about getting a duvet coat - yours sounds as though it was essential today. I'm pleased S is ok. Thinking about possible side effects isn't pleasant, but hopefully she won't have any more reactions.

Lizzie, that all sounds like good news from the doctor, thank goodness. The Doctor lead unit sounds very good. I don't know how we could get a doctor to make a house call here these days, unless it was as a result of a 999 call. I think you were sensible not to go for the x-ray today. Have a good night's sleep. Your sensitivity to a lot of triggers seems to have increased since that infection, so that could include the feather duvet as well as other people's perfumes etc. It must be incredibly difficult to avoid contact with irritants though. My DIL2 is very sensitive to all perfumes, washing products, toiletries etc but with her it triggers migraine. When I take Eva over there I don't even take a dog towel because the scent of our very ordinary Persil/Comfort products upset her.

Oma, I hope you used your unexpected free day to relax. You've had a lot on just lately and a lazy day is in order. I'm glad MIL keeps her heating on - I had visions of her not wanting to use it and being cold in this frosty weather. Poor Storm being forgotten and deprived of his gourmet lunch at your house. At least he would have enjoyed the wintery weather in his garden. Did you have a nice meal out with GS and Lucie? What is the renovated restaurant like?

Plant, it's good that little H wanted to go back to school, even though she might have benefitted from another day at home. She's a lively little girl. Are your hearing aids okay now? What a disappointing lunch for you and GD. Poor baby. You feel so sorry for them when they aren't well and cry miserably. I hope he's soon better, and his daddy, too. The dogs in our training class learn to ignore the other dogs, and Eva works off lead quite happily but she was very excited to be back there.

After OH reached dizzy culinary heights yesterday, he's back down to earth with a thump today. Neither of us was very hungry tonight, so we ended up with beans on toast with an egg on top. He did garnish it very nicely with fresh tomatoes, and we had grapefruit to start with.

I don't seem to have got much done today. The Sainsbury delivery turned up 1 ½ hours early (the driver did ring and ask if it was ok as he was already in our road), and that suited us as there were no earlier slots free when I booked it. I spent quite a lot of time booking a blood test for OH. The website gives a phone number which is no longer in operation and says "or book online". I can do that myself using my hospital number, but OH's blood test is from the GP Surgery. Anyway, it worked in the end, but the service is booked up until 9th December. I don't know what you do if you don't have access to online.

I took Eva for a walk just before it went dark, as did every other dog owner in our road, it seemed! I ordered a few things off Amazon, which reminded me I need to start thinking about Christmas presents. Then I realised I'd forgotten to post a friend's birthday card, but I was too cold to walk to the post box, about 10 minutes away, so went to go in the car instead. The inside of the windscreen was wet with condensation and it took ages to clear, so a 5 minute job took about half an hour!

We've got a free week-end, so I'm going to try and catch up with a few things I didn't get done this week. Hopefully.

Good morning, I have actually slept well! I have been doing some research on stuck mucus, if that is the description, I have sleep apnea and use the mask, I have been reading that it causes a lot of the stuck mucus!! Then when it happens there are prickles that activate the problem. Maybe the duvet being one of them. I will start the steaming, salt rinsing etc and hope that it helps.

Plant, GD2 does her work experience with babies from 10 weeks to 2 years, she says they are constantly full of colds etc!

Daisy, the lady I visit on the lower floor, is almost 85 years old and she was telling me that her surgery do house calls from being 80, also the assistants visit for the blood tests etc. I don't know if our surgery practice do that or not.

Gem, I hope that it all goes well for little E.xx

Oma, you would all enjoy the meal, not so much the cold though.
