WG, I haven't had a hip replacement, which I'm sure differs in many ways from knee. The one thing I wish I had got and didn't have was some sort of small wheeled trolley to push along. I could carry some things in a shoulder bag when using sticks but not a cuppa or plate. I improvised by putting a tray on a wheeled plant dolly and pushing it along with one stick! Far from easy. If you haven't already got something to safely convey a tray, I would buy or borrow one!

Good morning Nan2. Good morning everyone else
A new week.
Aqua this morning, then meeting a friend for coffee. As we are meeting at 11.30 it could end up being lunch!
No other plans. I feel as if I am starting with a cold, hopefully not!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good Monday morning everyone. It's another "meh" day here - cloudy, very still, but at least it's not raining.
Nanto, well done on making even a little space in your freezer. They never seem big enough, do they!
WeeGranny, it will be lovely to see those bulbs flowering in the Spring. Gem's advice about carrying cups of tea etc round the house after your op is very good. You can get (buy 2nd hand, borrow or hire) walkers with wheels and a flat surface to put a tray on. Good luck with the grabber - I think they look very difficult to use. I'm sure you're right about the pain - the effects build up and sap your strength.
Oma, how are you today?
Plant, do you have to stretch high to clean your sitting room windows? Did you do them yesterday? You're right, Eva does like to be close to us - but OH is her big love in life when she wants a cuddle. She likes to sit on his lap while he's watching tv.
Gem, I'm just off to read about Phantom. Enjoy aqua, coffee - and probably lunch. How are the kittens?

It's a dull miserable looking day here too so far Daisy.
Kittens are fine thank you. They met 2 more of our friends last night so know a lot of new people
We take them for the second vaccinations on Wednesday. After that we will let Sooty Next Door come in and have a supervised meeting!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem, they're going to grow up far too quickly, aren't they. But it's a good idea to socialise them with Sooty Next Door. We did that when our lovely next door neighbours moved in with their Sprocker. We took the introductions very slowly over a couple of weeks and both dogs are really happy in each other's company."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. Morning ladies
Its dull but dry.
WG ,
MIL has a walker with a tray on its a bit bulky but it’s safe to carry a plate and cup on
better than struggling trying to hold a plate with one hand and one crutch.
We have a grabber they are not easy when you first try them but you get a way of doing things,
I try to lift stuff and put it on the work top or sofa if I need it,
Gem
I bet you end up having lunch 😁
Aww poor kittens having to get nasty jabs but it’s for their health isn’t it.
I had to get out of bed again last night the pain killers didn’t work ,
This morning I had to go to the opticians these glasses are still not right.
The Opticians are in Sainsburys so B dropped me off at the door but I had to walk all along the back of the checkouts to get to it ,
It took ages and I’m in agony.
Got to go for yet another eye test tomorrow morning ,
I have said if nothing had changed I want the vari focals changed to Distant and reading glasses.
A pain keep changing them but better than what I have.
Im getting sick of pain at the minute but can’t do much about it.
I have appointment with Physiotherapist on Friday for my leg I will talk to her about this while I am there.
Hopefully she can suggest some stretches that don’t involve getting on the floor .
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Thank you for your suggestions re trolley/walkers ladies! Unfortunately, my ground floor isn't on one level, so I'd have to negotiate going from one level to another! I'm going to get myself one of those insulated mugs later, so at least drinks won't be spilt.
Gradually ticking off my list of things to do and what I need to take with me!
Have a good day ladies xBelieve you can and you're halfway there.

Oma, Just as mine is getting better your pain is very bad.
Is your bed soft? I can’t understand why the opticians can't get your glasses right, I have worn varifocals for ages.
WG, getting close for you, when is your son coming?
Daisy, I live in a bungalow, I don’t have many windows and they are easy to clean apart from the kitchen one which is over the sink and draining board. I used to climb up but no more. I can clean it from the outside.
H has started her new nursery this morning, she seemed to go in happily GD1 said, she has gone to fetch her. I joined them for a chilli last evening, GD2 is on the mend and has some colour in her cheeks now. DD and Sil will not be back until after midnight.
Gemini, love to hear about the kittens. Have an enjoyable Aqua and poss. Lunch
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Plant, it's good to hear you are on the mend at last. You must be quite relieved that window-cleaning isn't a major chore for you. How did H get on at her new nursery today?
WeeGranny, oh dear, a trolley-type of walker wouldn't be much use if you've got steps between different rooms. The insulated mug is a great idea though, and you could perhaps fill a thermos flask and that would save you a couple of journeys to the kitchen. You are getting yourself very well-organised. xx
Oma, I've had varifocals for years, but have found the last couple of times that they don't work so well, and I've decided next time I'll get single vision ones. I don't need them much for reading so I don't think it will be a problem. I'm so sorry you've had another painful night, but fingers crossed that the physio can help when you go on Friday.
I have had quite a productive day today. I did a couple of loads of washing and some ironing this morning, plus a couple of phone calls, writing some cards and cutting the lawn. I even trimmed the edges. I didn't take Eva so far today as she was a bit stiff after a long walk in the Forest yesterday.

My Mattresses is a Premier inn mattress with a 4” topper ,
Normally a lovely comfy bed.
B bought me a V pillow today to see if that help while I’m sitting.
Daisy
Im sure Eva was just as happy with a small walk , if she’s anything like Storm it’s not the walk it’s the stopping and sniffing at every blade of grass , bush, tree etc.
Our walking time would be half the time if I didn’t let him sniff so much,
Sniffing is so important and being aloud to sniff for as long as they like 😁
WG
I have a Ninja insulated cup it’s ideal it keeps water and ice cold for a good 24 hours , and supposed to keep hot drinks hot for several hours although I haven’t tried hot liquids in it.
It also has a handy rubber carry handle you can put over your wrist if need too.
Plant
Did H have a good day? Xx

Plant, pleased to hear H settled in ok. Glad GD is on the mend.
Daisy, no we never seem to have enough freezer space.
Our 2nd freezer is a big one,but its surprising how quickly it fills up.
Its been another cool dull day today. We need some sun.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Oma, you're quite right -stopping for a good sniff is really important to them and Eva has to stop and sniff every blade of grass, every twig, every inch of a wall or fence, every tree trunk. ... I bet that sounds familiar to you. But she does still need to run or have a long walk whenever possible. I hope you sleep better tonight. xx
Nanto we used to have an enormous chest freezer, and I downsized it when we got a new one. I wish I hadn't now! We could do with some sun, but at least that awful, miserable rain has stopped for a few days, and all the fallen leaves are nice and crisp.
Plant, H is such a little star. Thank goodness her first day at her new nursery went to well, and enjoying a swim afterwards must have made her day.
