I vaguely remember watching the original Poldark. I shall not be watching this one as I am heartily sick of hearing about it. I watch BBC News in the mornings from 6am. Now they have always repeated the same report over and over again but the Poldark thing has been complete overkill. I don't think there is one aspect of it that hasn't been covered: the actors, the auditions, the accents, the settings, the love scenes, the costumes, the history blah blah flipping blah. I know they have to put light hearted stuff in to news programmes or we would all be so depressed we would be in tears but PLEASE, having it on constantly especially when there are so many serious and dreadful things going on is just too much ..... UMMM rant over (red face)

Gemini - I'm sad Call the Midwife has finished, and sad that there were so many sad (and scary) story lines. I wonder if they will continue the storyline of the mum-to-be who was given thalidomide? An ex work colleague of mine had taken it and her baby was born just about the time that fears were being raised (in Australia, I think). Her baby was born with webbed fingers, but otherwise ok."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

when I was pregnant I was given Debendox over the counter at Timothy Whites at Piccadilly. Some time later there was a link with thalidomide type deformities but it proved to be quite tenuous. The percentage of children with physical difficulties was much lower than thalidomide thank goodness. I do however with my "grown up head on" question how they would give anti morning sickness pills over the counter with thalidomide being so prevalent In the previous few years.
On another matter, it is interesting how horrified the midwives always are in the programme when a MAN is going to be anywhere near anything to do with giving birth where now, just fifty years later they would almost be hung drawn and quartered if they were not willing to participate in whatever the way mummy wants them to. Love seeing the babies born, I know it is only TV but I cry every time. Good job I am not a midwife!!If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

Good Morning Ladies hope all well and fit for another week,we all seem to be so busy with our jobs and little ones I wonder how I ever had time to work full time in a previous life It was quite an eventful week-end at Chez-Glamma
after a very nice afternoon with both my boys and their partners arriving on Saturday (both at different times as the girls don't speak - don't ask ? a case for YEO at a later date) we enjoyed a nice M&S take a way and watched TV,I decided an early night was needed as I had been so busy at the Community centre all week, 1-30am the phone goes and when mr.glamm answered downstairs neighbour asking "is glamma in" well he has no patience with this lady and was going to tell her I was at a local night club but thought better of it she was convinced she was having heart problems again so I told her to press the emergency button for assistance right away which she did and I said I would get up and come and sit with her until help arrived,I must say they where very good and sent a 1st Responder and then an ambulance gave her three heart reading and decided to take her to hospital as the reading was showing a slow heart rate,so back to bed at around 3am and then couldn't close my eyes for ages,I spent most of yesterday in a bit of a cloud and just managed to keep eyes open for Call the Midwife.
Meanwhile neighbour came home in the afternoon,I heard her visitors coming to visit with their laughing and joking and her music & TV on and do you know what she hasn't even picked up the phone or anyone knocked to say thank you I shall certainly not be making any middle of the night visits again in a hurry I feel really let down about this and usually I can let things go but I feel quite tearful when I think how ungrateful this lady is. (rant over )
I'm going to enjoy another "cuppa" or two and then get ready to take Poppy to the beauty parlour she needs a shampoo & set her hair has grown so thick this time the poor girl can't see out of her fringe and there is no chance of me doing it
she would end up bald or with pieces missing. talk later x glamma xKeep Calm,You're Fabulous

Been busy cooking, cakes and dessert and a nice Beef Bourgingon (I can cook it not sure if I can spell it tho ). A great day of catching up and an opportunity for cuddling their 9 month granddaughter. So I won't be back on here till this evening or tomorrow.Grandmothers are just antique little girls - author unknown

Hi everyone.
Rather a wet windy day here. Monday is GS day so we have amused him inside all day. Luckily he still has 2 hour afternoon nap
Glamma I would annoyed and hurt in equal amounts if someone treated me as that neighbour did you. A bunch of flowers or thank you card is the least she could do!!
Avo, it sounds like a lovely day for you“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
