    Good Friday morning, everyone.

We've got much needed sunshine at the moment, but don't know how long it will last.

Nanto, enjoy your pub meal. Do you have a favourite? Bramleys make the best pies and crumbles, don't they, and lovely to have some in the freezer.

Oma, yes, I think it was sensible not to send the girls to school. A lot of GD1's friends stayed at home as well - they have such long journeys so when things go wrong getting them home is more difficult. That mum acted so quickly. If she hadn't I dread to think what might have happened to her and her baby. How frightening that must have been. I hope the dentist's goes ok and your tooth can be repaired easily. Don't get over-excited doing the ironing!

Glamm, how are you feeling today? I bet it's nice to sleep in your own bed again. Take care and get lots of rest. xx

Plant, did you get much of a storm in Normandy?

Lizzie, it must be hard for the children getting round on bikes in such bad weather. Thank goodness you had no more damage. It's good to hear that your BIL has settled in now. I'm sure it will help him a lot.

This afternoon we're going on a trip round a local distillery! It should be interesting, and I think they do vodka as well as gin. OH thought it was just gin and I would drive home (I don't drink gin) but vodka is a different thing. Anyway, I think we'll both bring our samples home to enjoy in front of the fire one evening. Tonight we're popping round to our neighbours for a drink and catch up with them and another couple in our cul de sac. I'm just going to take Eva out so she'll sleep this afternoon. I hope it's dried up a bit.

      Yes Gem, we have sunshine.

Oma,I saw it on the news about the lady whose windows shattered. Glad her and baby were unharmed.

Daisy, I love the gammon and pineapple meal.
If there's no gammon left I will have scampi.
      Hubby always gets the scampi.
Enjoy your visit to the distillery, will you be sampling the drinks.

Well there’s another Β£70 on my tooth , would be cheaper to get them out and have dentures fitted πŸ₯΄

Its dry but very cold today , was lovely and warm in the dentists though.

Dentists are expensive! At least you can smile again Oma

That sounds like a nice day and evening Daisy.

We had a good time with DDs and GC. OH came too. There was also an outdoor area which they spent time in. I was thoroughly cold by the time we left! As I now have to elevate and ice my leg I'm even colder. I'm under a blanket!
Chicken and leek pie for the meal tonight before the quiz. Looking forward to it ( I will have warmed up by then!)

Gem, Our earlier posts crossed. What a lovely time you've had with your DDs and GC. We need to wrap up warm now - it is getting chillier. Have fun at the quiz tonight.

Oma, it's never cheap at the dentists, is it, but at least your smile is back how it should be.

Nanto, I love scampi as well. My OH often chooses gammon, but we find it can vary a lot - from what looks like cheap ham slices to really luscious hunks of mouth-watering gammon.

We had a good afternoon at the distillery. It's a very small, local company who source most of their raw materials within the Forest and nearby. The tasting was interesting, but I was beginning to feel a bit light-headed before we had finished! I'm not meant to drink gin - it goes straight to my head and I can understand why it was called "mother's ruin". Ooops don't get the wrong idea, I mean I need a nana nap before we go out this evening.

We're only going next door for a drink and a chat. I think I'll stick to water.

              Good morning. Dry again.

Daisy, the pub where we go always have decent gammon. Never salty either.
Hope you haven't got a hangover this morning.

We all enjoyed our meal yesterday.
10 minutes after we got home, we had visitors, which took care of the rest of the day.

Oma, dental treatment is very expensive now, glad I've got dentures.

Out shopping today in town, so we will be eating out again.

              Have a good day ladies.

Good Saturday morning everyone. It's raining here again, with flashes of sunshine in between. I think we had heavy rain overnight as well.

Oma, enjoy your visit to see Finn. They change even in 2 weeks at this age, don't they. I bet he gets all excited when you arrive. I had to double-check the date when you said your nieces had put their Christmas decorations up, in case it was the 4th December today.

Nanto, it turned into a busy day for you. At least you got home before your visitors arrived. Have a good day out in town. I hope it doesn't rain for you.

We had a lovely evening with our neighbours, although Eva was terrified by the noise of fireworks which we couldn't hear in the house. No headache, I did stick to water.

Good morning, it is dry here, not for long though.

I have got all the olives off the trees as they were weighing the branches down. I got the balcony cleaned at the same time, I had other plans, pleased I got this done though.

Daisy and Oma, there are quite a few Christmas trees etc in the area, my neighbour opposite always puts hers up in October.

I hope to get to the material market in Rotterdam tomorrow morning, not so much for material as for lining, threads etc

                      Good afternoon everyone!

Oma I'm a firm believer that when you want to put your Christmas tree and decorations up is the right time Having said that ours won't be up until December, sometime in the first week to 10 days .

Good news about no headache Daisy!

                      You have been busy Lizzie!

We had a good night last night . We enjoyed the quiz and the meal.
Lazy day today, although OH has been doing some autumn tidying up in the garden. I made soup , so not totally lazy

We are home, we were in the path of the storm and lost our power. As the house is away from the nearest town there was no sign of it coming back very soon so we decided we would come home. The only heat we had was a lovely wood burner in the SR but the rest of the house was very cold. We were heating saucepans of water for hot drinks, fortunately the stove top was gas. Sil drove into the nearest town and they had power. He changed the booking on the boat and cancelled the hotel we had booked where we were going to stay before we caught the boat home. Came home late last night, crossing very calm, to a cold house. Today I have the heating turned up to warm the place up.

Such a shame you had to come home early but it sounds like the best decision.
Keep your heating up until you and the house have warmed up!
